We were staying right next to the Red Hen Cantina during our Napa trip and at the end of the night, we had to make our way on over to it(especially since most things in Napa close SO darn early). How funny that we had come all the way to Napa, just to end our night with a margarita(or 2). This place is sub-par overall, but the vibe seems fun and lively. It brings in an interesting crowd of what looks like half tourists, half locals. Our bartender was quirky and funny, but the drinks just didn’t live up to any standard at all. We ordered a pitcher of the frozen melon margarita(don’t ask why) and another specialty cocktail that included some combination of blackberry and lemon(it ended up tasting like straight up medicine, we barely took 2 sips). We ended up spending most of our time at the Red Hen just laughing at where we were ending our night, and making fun of the drinks we had ordered. Still fun, just not tasty. The margarita was extremely watered down — couldn’t taste a hint of tequila in it – and tasted artificial and poorly made overall. We didn’t try any of the food, so cannot comment on that aspect of it, but overall — great memory of coming to the Red Hen Cantina when in Napa Valley, but don’t expect an amazing experience.

They get a 3 because the top shelf margarita was truly delicious! Other than that, the food and service were very sub par. I will say that once we finally ordered out food, it came quickly, but we waited and waited, and then when we wanted out check we waited and waited again. I’ll come back for drinks at some point but no food!

Food was good, I had the tri-tip fajitas. It came with a side of rice & beans(bland) and a huge amount of cheese on the side, tiny bit of guac and sour cream. It was enough food for one person, choice of corn or flour tortilla. I would say the food needed a little more salt but okay otherwise. The greeter wasn’t very friendly, but our server was awesome! Food came out quick, just a little over priced for bland food.

This place is a tacky version of Chevys. Place just doesn’t feel clean and looks cluttered with all this cheap furniture and décor. The food is soggy and you just pray your not going to get sick after.

Hadn’t been to The Red Hen in a few years and now I remember why! The deck, the chairs, the tables and the cart all needed a good thorough cleaning! The chips tasted like they’d been sitting in a plastic bag for awhile! My wife ordered the carne asada fajita salad which had absolutely no seasoning at all on the several hours old over cooked beef! Our 13 year old daughter’s wanted rice, bean and cheese burritos, the beans were great the rice was saw dust dry and flavorless, not to mention $ 11.00 a piece! My chicken chimichanga was mediocre at best! Just because you own and operate restaurant in «The Napa Valley» doesn’t mean you can charge ridiculous prices for soso food! The wait staff was attentive and friendly! I can’t imagine any time in the near future that I would go back nor would I recommend to any friend, acquaintance, or visitor to our amazing town!

ERM A GAWD. It was so good~ The ultimate burrito was filling and cheesy. The service was also top-notch, our server was kind and having a good time with us. Red hen is mostly tex-mex stuff too btw. don’t think you’re dining at a 5-star renown restaurant. It’s more sit down and have some good, filling food type of place. Pretty legit awesome. SOOOOGOOD. Patio was nice too.

So yeah, we’re here visiting from MKE. We have a TON of these«Tex-Mex» places around town. So I totally knew what I was getting myself into. I was hungry. My mom was hungry. And ironically, the food took forever to come out.(In MKE is like 5 min ticket time, tops) and not only that, but just bad. Bad. I know, what do I really expect. But we were one of four tables in the whole place. It smelled. There was food all over the floor. And our waiter was M.I. A. We should have just called Jimmy John’s from our hotel room lol Go elsewhere. There’s so many other places. Except if you’ve been wine tasting the whole day, and right across the way from your hotel you’re staying at!

I really liked this place. It was late and we were hungry so it was an especially good find. The service was really fast and friendly. We both had fajitas and loved it.

You would get more stars if you had faster service. Chips need salt. Food not bad. Fireplace out side.

This place should name itself Montazuma’s revenge! Disappointment is my closest friend I guess, if your looking to loose 25lbs and can afford to stay near a toilet for 4 days this place may have some appeal. Seriously over priced over rated and gross food, It fails on all fronts, tables are slimy service is a joke, waiters with zero experience. If you want a beer and some chips I guess that’s ok but I would forbid anyone to to dine here.

I see so many bad reviews here and I’m not quite sure why. The food is just okay but it has always been just okay, it’s not bad but it’s «oh my god try this!» It’s a cool local spot where you always know what you are going to get which that alone is worth its weight in gold, so if you don’t like red hen then don’t go pretty simple, don’t cry about it! but I digress. The bar is great as is the staff and that’s probably what keeps this place afloat as it always has since it was on the outskirts of town. There a few standouts that are awesome there, the fajitas and the asada tacos, you can’t fail with the chips and salsa or cheespa either. Don, Kenny and Aaron are great people if you have them serving you, you won’t be disappointed.

A group of co-workers(including my boss) and myself decided to stop by this restaurant after work, in attempts to do some party planning for the upcoming holiday season. Needless to say we didn’t get much done since LOTS of alcohol was involved. Since it was a weekday, the place wasn’t packed at all, which was nice since we received great/attentive service from a friendly waitress. Anyway, we ordered several appetizers, since there were a lot of us. I can’t recall which appetizers we ordered, but they were delicious, especially with a margarita. I ordered a beef enchilada combo plate, which wasn’t that great to be honest with you. It was lacking in the flavor department. Overall, the appetizers and drinks are awesome! I wouldn’t mind dining here with my co-workers again.

Oh My. If only I had read the review before i went! It was Bloody Awful. ALL round! 5 of us went for dinner. FLIES were EVERYWHERE. On the Food and on us. we all felt sick and spoke to the staff a few times who didn’t seem to care for our discomfort. one simply said «I know its awful they don’t even allow us to have a fly swatter» ! Service was Awful and the food Mediocre and BLAND at best. NO seasoning. There were 5 almost FULL plates of food left on the plates when we left. At least the flies enjoyed it. DONTGOHERE. My local Taco truck is 10 times better. Its just BAD. get a Grip Red Hen People. In Need of a good Hands on knowledgeable Manager to sort it. SIMPLE!

A little pricey for so-so Mexican food. The pork was very dry in the Al Pastor tacos, and the rice and beans didn’t look appetizing. Chips and salsa were good, and service was nothing to complain about. There were a lot of people that seemed to be having a good time, but they were all drinking. so…

Let me preface this with the bar being about 4 stars. It had a really fun environment and the bartender was great! Now moving onto the food. It was as average as it comes. My tacos were tasteless, and really expensive for the lack of flavor that came with it. The mango margarita pitcher? Delicious. Come here if you want good drinks, but eat beforehand!

First of all, the margaritas are good and there’s a nice patio But… They say they’re open until midnight, but they close whenever they see fit and the waitresses are rude But the Margaritas are good and there’s a nice patio
