This place is great for casual dinners. The outdoor seating is nice and cozy, the ambience is great. Service wise, it was not the fastest but that is ok. The food was great, i love the salad and the steak was good. This was a very comfortable place and would love to drop by in the future just to relax. Me and my wife had dinner here prior to me proposing to her so i guess it is overdue to come back =)

I was very disappointed with our last visit at Cuvee. My husband and I have a long history with this restaurant as it’s where we held our wedding rehearsal dinner, hosted Christmas parties, and attended a number of catered events. We have always loved this restaurant which is why we have been gone back even when the individual dining experiences(outside of a set menu party) may not have been 100%. This time, I was pretty disappointed all the way around and when we get an opportunity to go on another date night, I don’t think I’ll be choosing Restaurant Cuvee. First off, the service was poor. The hostess never greeted us and the server seemed pretty uninterested in engaging with our table. I had menu questions, and it seemed like my questions were more of an inconvenience to her than anything else. Our water and drink glasses were empty for noticeable periods of time with no mention of any delay when they came to fill them up. When our food arrived it was another disappointment. Second, in a catered setting the food is great, but when we dined individually it was not. The calamari was not at all what we expected and it was quite a shock.(If the server was engaging in conversation she could have mentioned this…) The blue cheese and fig bread was pretty blah, the pulled chicken chili dish was watery and not very flavorful and my husband’s jalapeño burger was VERY under cooked. It was so disappointing when a few weeks back at a catered dinner we had the most incredible lamb pops, cheese dishes and ahi tuna appetizers, not to mention the service was incredible! What is going on Cuvee? Every time I go there outside of a catered event my experience is very poor. Lastly, I tried to write you a private note via your website, but the ‘contact us’ page only lists a phone number and does not have a manager’s email available.

A group of friends and I went here to celebrate my birthday back in september. The ambiance of the restaurant was beautiful. It had a unique outdoor/indoor setting with a fire pit. There service was okay, nothing spectacular or memorable. The food was also just okay. I can’t recall any dish that really had that wow factor. Solid 3 stars for not totally sucking. –2 stars for having not being memorable in Napa.

Went to Cuvee last Saturday night to celebrate a birthday with a group of 12. First, the place was empty and that had me worried. I mean completely empty. The décor was very nice and cozy. We were seated in a private room which was nice. Right from the start the service was poor and the interaction with our server(s) was awkward and off-putting. We had brought in some champagne to share with the group which after waiting for almost 30 minutes, we finally opened and served ourselves. We too, like so many others had the burnt bread appetizers, the blue cheese and fig, the tomato basil, and the pork one. All were decent save for the completely blackened bread. The salads were great, I had the roasted beet salad with bacon and maple mustard dressing and really enjoyed it. Others had the Gem Lettuce Caesar and the persimmon one. No issues. When dinner came however, things really went south. 4 of us ordered the flatiron steak frites. 3 of them were completely cold and also cooked to the wrong temperatures. It took several minutes to flag down an employee, in fact I finally had to go ask the bartender to send our server(weird seeing as we seemed to be the only group in the restaurant) and when we did they asked us what we wanted them to do.(what?) They took the 3 steaks that had been cooked incorrectly, 2 of which were grossly underdone, and returned with 3 more, all of which were again cooked wrong and 2 were completely raw inside. There is no excuse for getting it wrong 6 times in a row.(3 steaks 2x=6 times) In the end, they agreed to take the steaks off the bill which seemed like a given at this point and replaced 2 of them with 2 large bowls of fries. Who wants fries for dinner? You had a chance to impress us and you failed. Sorry Cuvee, I cannot speak for the group but I for one, won’t be back. 2 stars because there were some good dishes coming out, I just did not receive one so I cannot rate them.(did taste the pork shoulder while my steak was being replaced and it was great)

Can only echo what so many others have said. Decent food, very nice décor, lovely patio… Terrible service. Have eaten here a few times and it’s always a struggle to get attentive service, the waitstaff and management just don’t seem to care about tending to customers. As locals there’s no reason for us to come back here, many other places have good food, pleasant ambiance and many of them also have excellent service.

A rest stop before end the ride back to SF. Made the reservation as I like the out door openness of the restaurant. Service was attentive and our waiter made good wine recommendation that was unique to the restaurant. After several wine tasting, it was nice to try some different. The food was well accepted by my dining part but then again for the set up and being Napa, Cuvee meets expectation… If I live in the area, Cuvee would be a good hang out restaurant but not a must-go-when-in-Napa place…

3.5 Went on a Napa weekend getaway with my sisters and had dinner here. We had reservation, but we waited for at least 15 minutes. Good thing they had a fake fire outside to warm us. I had lamb for dinner, good. mushrooms and pork belly for appetizers I think. dessert pot de crème was good and other desserts. It was an okay dinner. Service is what’s lacking. For a place like this, they need to improve that. Place is nice and cozy.

I really liked the atmosphere of this restaurant. It’s got a very relaxed yet hip vibe. On a nice sunny day the patio is a great place to get a few glasses of wine and some appetizers. Their lunch menu selection is small but the portion sizes are large. Our group got the cheese plate, club sandwiches, and chicken wraps. Everything was tasty and up to expectations. Minus one star for the sloooooooow service. Even getting coffee after dinner took 20 minutes. Seriously?!

Don’t be fooled by the four stars, this place is worth at least five. Sit in Chris’ section if you can and enjoy not only five star food but five star service as well. The food is wine country worthy and parking is a breeze. Simply treat someone you care about to a lovely evening here and just sit back and enjoy living life. In the words of Ferris Buehlar, «If you have the means, I highly suggest picking one up.»

This restaurant is beautiful. It’s got a great patio, and the indoor space opens into the outdoor space. The décor and food is fabulous. However, I came here in June with my mom, aunt, and boyfriend and received horrific service. Horrific. Even after making a reservation. From the start, our waitress proved to be inexperienced and lacking attentiveness to us. At one point, all four of us were literally waving our arms in the same way you’d flag down a plane on a deserted island to get the attention of any waiter. On multiple occasions, you could see staff members congregating inside(the empty inside) chatting to one another. Hence the frantic arm waving. When we complained to the manager, about the poor service from our waitress and entire staff she said the waitress was new and she’d talk to the her and have her come apologize. Never did she apologize for her staff, our bad experience or offer to compensate us anything. Not only that, but the manager herself was one of the people just standing around doing nothing. Good managers walk around to the tables and ask how everything is, not stand around! The waitress came over, did a half-ass apology and threw the bill at us. Needless to say when it came to the bill, our gratuity reflected our experience. Shame too because my aunt’s a big spender and vows never to return. It’s too bad about this place because the food and décor of the restaurant is fantastic but service was atrocious. And based on the recent reviews, it hasn’t changed since June 2013.

My fiancé and I had a horrible experience at this restaurant. I’m not sure what was going on that night but it seemed like the whole staff was running around like a bunch of chickens with their heads cut off. We would get left for periods of 15 – 20 minutes with no service whatsoever. I might have thought that we were the only ones being treated this way but we watched as every table in the restaurant had the same experience. I saw at least 4 groups of people just get up and leave because they sat for so long without attention. With all that being said on the service end our food was actually pretty good. I had the pork shoulder and it was very tasty. The barbecue sauce over the top was delicious. My fiancé had the half roasted chicken and although it’s served so piping hot that you have to let it sit to cool off it was very good. Also I had an old fashioned to drink and it was made just right. Loved the giant circular ice cubes they’re served with. It’s a cool looking restaurant with awesome food but our experience left us with a bad impression. With all the sitting and waiting we were there for almost over 2 hours. Pretty unacceptable. I might be giving them some credit by saying it was just that night? At the end of our meal we hunted someone down for the check and they apologized for the slow service. Their excuse was that they were super busy. I find that untrue because the capacity never hit over 75% while we were there and there was always a few empty tables.

Way to overpriced for what you get. Bill was $ 160 and it felt more like an $ 80 meal. Your meat is one price and that was $ 30+ and your sides are $ 8. Service was lacking. Im a huge believer in «you get what you pay for». Well, we paid to much and got to little. It felt like a place that wanted to be high end so they charged high end prices, but it’s more of a middle of the road restaurant. You won’t get a romantic or special napa experience here.

Restaurant Cuvee is the restaurant for the River Terrance Inn and we sought it out because we were looking for a casual place to eat lunch. The restaurant is very open, almost entirely in a open air patio. Thankfully, there are lots of trees so shade is easy to come by. The furniture is nice, woven outdoor patio furniture but rather low. Low is good for lounging and drinking and less good for sitting upright and eating. We started by ordering the duck rillettes, served with an arugula and pear salad, fig jam, whole grain mustard, and grilled bread. The kitchen notified us that they were out of duck but substituted it for a pork rillette which came with a thick cap of fat. The toppings were very nice, fresh arugula and sweet pear. Overall, the dish was oily and rich, not only from the grilled bread but also the melting fat cap. I would have liked the texture more smooth. For a light lunch, I ordered the beet salad, topped with a watercress salad, crumbles of blue cheese, hazelnut, smoked bacon, and pickled onion. This was an enjoyable salad, with generous amount of roasted beets that were cooked perfectly. They had lots of accompaniments which livened up the flavor of the beets. I especially liked the blue cheese and the crisp wedges of pickled onion even if the whole thing was overdressed. John’s smoked turkey club came with avocado, bacon, arugula, whipped goat cheese, pesto aioli, caramelized tomato jam. We asked that the goat cheese be substituted for anything like, like cheddar or swiss, which was accommodated. It was a forgettable sandwich that tasted mostly of turkey and the bread was a little too large and tough. The waitstaff seemed unsure of themselves, the menu, of substitutions, and they disappeared regularly. There was 1 large group and it seemed to throw them into a tailspin. It is a pleasant restaurant with a please-all menu but probably not worth coming back to unless it was convenient or close by.

Where do I even start!!! Seriously! Came here a year ago and it was wonderful. A group of us ate a fab dinner so we decided to eat here again with other friends. WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT !! The appetizers were pretty good. Then a couple with a baby came in and sat across the restaurant… and started whining. Dinner came out. My scallops were cold and the veggies that accompanied it were even colder! The pot roast was burnt and cold. The only thing that was hot was the braised chicken that was presented in a fire hot iron skillet that my friend burned her hand on! We sent back the 2 entrees, all the while listening to the baby whining! The manager came over and apologized for the food and commented that the chef was newer. That’s certainly not what I would say and it wasn’t what we wanted to hear. We decided to try dessert but the baby was so loud we told the manager that we tired of listening to crying along with others in the restaurant and could not even relax! The manager apologized and said she confronted the table with the baby a few times already. REALLY?! How about asking them to take it outside until he was calmer instead of subjecting the entire restaurant to it! Needless to say we did not enjoy ourselves! They took off the 2 meals… of course they did .we didn’t eat them! Not one other comp or discount was given, not even a drink or appetizer taken off! We WILLNOT be eating at that establishment again. I think the entire place has sunk, not just the chef!

This is a restaurant for those who enjoy pretension. While I usually practice«three visits before a review», you deserve a warning. Don’t waste your time or money. We chose this from Unilocal reviews for a hopefully gourmet meal after a full day in Napa Valley.(Did we all go to the same place?) Yes, we arrived early and ahead of our ‘Open Table’ reservations(that is another story.) We elected to sit in the very pleasant court yard with a gas fire pit. surrounded by filthy painted concrete floors that continued throughout the restaurant and bar. Odd but ignorable. We asked for the wine list. Can you say wretched mark ups in the heart of wine country! I suspect that explains why they have many locals bringing their own and a very visible corkage policy. We decided to try the ‘Cuvee’s Mac & Cheese’ to tease our dinner. It was a soupy, gritty dish that Mickey D’s could have executed better. On to dinner with a menu that apparently is the chef’s attempt at ‘cool.’ It lists the ingredients under a title with no sense of the true dish. We had to ask to see the menu after receiving our plates to figure out what we had really ordered. The ‘Roasted Ruby Beets’ was in there somewhere. When I uncovered it in the ‘spring greens with bacon’ salad, it was tasty, just scarce. The signature short ribs were bland at best on top of dry potato purée. And yes, Brussels SPROUTS were included… just roasted then allowed to cool. The black radish was somehow cooked into a leathery chip… how did they do that? The short ribs… very disappointingly unimpressive. My dinner partner’s ‘Potato Dumpling Brulee’ — lets just say it was a poor imitation of a doughy, undercooked, chewy gnocchi. Her ‘Pan Roasted 15-oz Ribeye Steak’ was menu-consistent bland and flavorless… they have truly elevated tasteless to new levels. They do have great servers, really. They just deliver very low value food and wine. I didn’t say cheap, just low value for the tourist prices. Look elsewhere for good food.

This outdoor seating on a cool night with low lit firepits makes this a super ambient space for relaxing conversation and dinner. It was pretty busy when we arrived but the staff found us a nice seat outside within no time and although they were short staffed, we were still taken care of within a good timely fashion. Many restaurants in the area have outdoor seating with heaters or fire pits. The food on the other hand… wasnt as sophisticated as the place put it off to be from the atmosphere. Wine list was ok but could certainly use an upgrade

A last-minute Christmas Eve in Napa stint at the River Terrace Inn led us to dinner and drinks at Cuvee since it is the hotel’s detached restaurant and we didn’t feel like a walk in the rain to downtown Napa to scout out other options. The lounge area looked cozy, so we settled for some bar stools instead of heading into the main dining room. Cuvee has happy hour every day on select appetizers and cocktails/beers/house wines. Luckily we caught the end of happy hour, so the bartender quickly fired off some nibbles for us. What I absolutely loved about Cuvee is their Barrel Program. They feature several wines that get poured«draft beer style» behind the bar. You can pick a size based on whether you want to simply try a wine or guzzle down a bunch of it or order for a whole table. The different sizes are 3oz, 6oz, 16oz, and 30oz pours. I opted for the Monticello Pinot Noir, which was phenomenal and I stuck with it for the rest of the evening. For food, we started with the Grilled Shishito Peppers( ) which were tossed in California olive oil, lime, and salt flakes. I took out about half the seeds for each pepper as they were too spicy for my taste with all the seeds and overpowered the otherwise sweet aromas of this pepper. Next up was the Mac & Cheese( ) — 5 local cheeses and butter crumb gratin with country ham and scallions. One of the best M&C I’ve had in a long time! The proportion of oozing delicious cheese to ham to pasta was perfect and every bite was divine. I ended up adding a slice of shishito pepper to each forkful, which created a new amazing combination. We finished up the savory part with the Wine Country Charcuterie Board( ) — butcher’s choice of meats, pates and local cheeses with torn country bread, homemade pickled vegetables, and artisan mustards. The meat and cheese was great, the bread was extremely fresh and I loved the pickled cauliflower. Wanting something sweet to go with the Taylor Fladgate Tawny Port we ordered to round out the meal, we planned on getting the Wine Country Hot Fudge Sunday, but per our bartender’s recommendation to try something that truly showed their pastry chef’s skills, we got the«Chocolat & Pinot»( ) instead — molten dark chocolate torta fresh from the oven, roasted strawberries, pinot noir syrup, vanilla whip, chocolate cracker. I wish we hadn’t listened to her on this count, as the dessert was absolutely disappointing. The cake itself was crumbly and dry, the whipping cream was overwhipped(basically whipped butter consistency) and the whole dish was way too sweet. All I tasted was syrup layered with syrup. I would absolutely come back here for more barrel wine pours, happy hour and also to try their dinner menu, which looked very promising.

for our Napa weekend getaway, I made a last minute reservations for this place because its one of the few places that still has open reservations. Now I know why. we came in here a few mins before our dinner reservation and was told that we will need to wait a few. The best part is that we can wait infront of fire just outside. It was a cold night so that was pretty nice. I’m pretty sure we waited about 20 mins before we got seated. the place is pretty huge, cozy and warm. the food was okay. For the amount of restaurants in Napa, this one doesn’t have a menu thats competitive enough. It’s kind of disappointing actually. We ordered pork belly for apps– they were good. the risotto was done right. the rest of the meal– so-so. they were tasty but nothing exciting. let’s talk service — this one was bad. took a long time to get our drinks, another 15 mins for the waitstaff to get our order then another 15 – 20 mins of wait between courses. No one asked us if we’re doing okay, no one filled our glass of water… for the price and type of restaurant – it’s a fail. there are many restaurants around the area. this would be in my lower list.
