I really like Sumbody in Alameda. So, when I got an email saying«we miss you! come and buy stuff and we’ll give you a free gift» I was all over it. Saturday, Jan 9, my cousins were visiting from the East Coast, so we did some touristing in Napa, and dropped by Sumbody. The saleswoman there was really great. She was engaging, knowledgeable, and welcoming. Unfortunately, she was relieved by another saleswoman who just doesn’t understand that contradicting your customers is not a sales technique. You see, I started trying out some testers(plural) and discovered that they had gone rancid. This is not surprising for a production that has no preservatives in a small store with a loyal following. The first one, she agreed was rancid, but the rest of them, she didn’t believe me — seemed to even take it personally. Fine, I don’t want to argue. I purchased my items(more than $ 70 of product), and showed her my email with the free gift offer… and she said that the email address did not look official, and she was unaware of any give away. In an accusing tone(all the while telling me about fake gift cards that had been used at the store previously). Ooookay. Nevermind. I’ll just take the stuff I paid for. I have written two emails to the company: one, forwarding the message I got with the gift offer asking if it is indeed legitimate, and another detailing my experience at the Napa store. To date, I have not heard back from them. TL; DR They have lovely products, and the stores are small but well stocked. The testers may be rancid. The sales people are hit or miss. The corporate office is slow to respond to customer feedback. Update: I got an email from Sumbody a few hours after posting this review, confirming that the email is legitimate, but Napa does not participate in the promotion. They have offered me the free gifts just for coming in to the store as an apology for the inconvenience. I have suggested that they amend their emails to include«redeemable only at these locations: …»

I really like this store but I think they really need to improve on certain things. The store is well organized but there’s so much going on that it feels cramped and sometimes(usually with the makeup) dirty, The workers are also sometimes very unprofessional, my first visit I wasn’t acknowledged at all because the employee had her friend there and they kept talking, loudly, about personal stuff, and then on my most recent visit the employee obviously didn’t want to be there and was very short with me when she did have to interact with me. Their products however are 8⁄10 and those other two points are lost because of packaging. I have had 3 bath salt tubes break and spill product on me when I open them and that’s just one example of bad packaging that wastes product. I also get very annoyed that I can rarely ever read the product information that’s either on products or on a separate sheet, because the font if crazy small and too ‘fancy’. Not saying the ‘fancy’ font is bad but it needs to be bigger so it can be more legible. I will go back and shop here but not as often as I would if the packaging was better, the store felt less cramped, and the employees were a bit more professional.

I love the goat milk soap and lotion. Everything is hand crafted and created with natural ingredients. The smell and feel of the products are amazing! I purchased a gift set from here for a friend months ago and I had such a difficult time choosing since everything is so fabulous! Now I can’t stop buying these products! Jessica is always so friendly and knowledgable when I pop in. It is nice to have the help when shopping here. I’ve also had three massages from here loved every experience! Very relaxing just what I needed! Ask for Stephanie. This place is awesome!

i LOVE this place. Their products are one of a kind. Their goats milk bar soap is absolutely divine! my teenage son loves that stuff! also, their salt and sugar scrubs are life changing. Most of the time they give a gift with purchase which is exciting.

The boy and I each purchased a Living Social Deal to experience a 75 minute massage at this spa. The storefront itself sells a variety of natural beauty/health products. The back of the store features two massage beds, very intimate. We had a wonderful couples massage. Both massage therapists are very good, attentive, and courteous. The service was wonderful and for the price of the Living Social deal, it was thoroughly worth it! However, I’m not sure if I would have paid the regular price of $ 115(I think).

My mom and I were on vacation and this spa was recommended to us. The owner and her staff are just lovely. The treatments were some of the best we have ever had… and we are spa snobs. The products are delightful. If we lived closer, we would be frequent clients. We are going to start ordering their products online because we loved them so much. Relaxing and intimate atmosphere with top notch customer service! We will be back our next trip to Napa!
