I TRY to go here as often as I can because their food is amazing! Born and raised in San Francisco, I was reluctant to just try ANY taqueria. But this… This place… Amazing. Not only is their food amazing; but every person I’ve encounter over the counter has been absolutely phenomenal! Super welcoming and just… Great to be around. If you’re around the area and want to try a hole in the wall kind of place… YOUHAVETOSTOPBYHERE!

Been here many times, upon recommendations. Service IS slow; just one cook and one a very costumer-service challenged waitress. In one occasion, another costumer in line had to tell the her that I was waiting for my order as she keep going in circles like a toilet brush. Not her fault completely, they need more staff. No chips or salsa offered, that’s fine, let them go. The food itself is not really that great. Am I ordering the wrong items? Still, rice is mush, meat salty, guac with barely any avocado. The worst was, after experiencing it myself, meeting people who too got sick from the food in here. And I’ve eaten some shady stuff out there. So that’s where I draw the line. Chipotle’s food safety issues don’t seem so terrible now. But for sure I won’t be visiting either one any time soon.

I had to update… I go here all the time now and the chile relleno is always in stock. This place is def worthy of a 5 star review. The chips are excellent — always fresh. And the salsas good and spicy. Staff is always friendly and on point.

Simple and delicious family owned stand up(order at the window) sit down and they bring your food in a timely manner. Do not expect much. It is good food and pleasant service.

Have enjoyed the food and service at this cool little spot five or six times over the past year. Veggie burritos and fish tacos are both flavorful and filling. My first stop was prompted by seeing four pick-up loads of local Mt. Bikers in the parking lot. Nothing like going with local knowledge. We were not disappointed. Recommend the fish taco combo plate.

Best Mexican food in Napa. Everything is so flavorful and HUGE! You think rice and beans are just rice and beans until you’ve had Tanya’s. Just check out this tostada! It is everything!

Stopped by to pick up a take home order of a regular asada burrito for me and a super asada burrito for my daughter. This was the first time I have visited Tannya’s and the establishment itself is nothing fancy at all. But the food! When we arrived home, the first scent upon opening the foil to my burrito was that of the freshly made tortilla. Yummy! The meat was plentiful and tender, and despite my good intentions of saving half for later, I ate the whole thing in one sitting! My only regret is that I originally ordered a carnitas burrito and they were out of carnitas! There will be a next time though as I was impressed by the freshness of the food.

So not sure if the place had a bad night — but ordered their nachos which looked amazing, but halfway through thats when problems started. What real Mexican place uses fake cheese in their food? The meat was extremely greasy AND very very salty. The end result of this food = two people getting food poison.

Food is good pretty authentic they actually have chicken mole, it seems to be a local favorite place that doesn’t seem too busy at least that was my impression, I also noticed that it’s not too popular among the hispanic community maybe due to the higher prices I mean what place charges 8.49 for a kids quesadilla? Or 8.99 for a plain cheese one when it’s the easiest mexican food! My husband comes for the burritos witch are decent I seem to like there hard shell tacos, chicken and shredded beef I guess you can still eat here while in a budget but you can end up paying almost double than other Mexican taquerias close by.

Food is OK, over priced for sure. I’ve never been to taqueria were they charge $ 20 for two enchilada 1 taco and horchata.

When the need for a taco hits, you should find your way here. I am talking delicious, authentic Mexican food. I ordered two tacos, one mole and one chicken with green sauce. They we were absolutely delicious, the perfect level of spice and come with the usual Mexican rice and beans. If you are eating there and lucky, go around to the enclosed seating area. There is one table that has a heating unit above it — it is a hot(lolololol) commodity — so try and nab it when you get there. Overall, great Mexican food, cafeteria atmosphere, and one warm table. What’s not to love.

My son was raving about this place, so we went on a Sunday evening for dinner. The only gripe I had was walking in to order. There’s front sitting area that had a bunch of people sitting down, who appeared to be waiting. It wasn’t clear where to order and the menu was hard to see from outside the waiting area. Eventually we figured out what the ordering process was and also who was next. A better waiting or ordering system might be in order. Also, they only had one heat lamp in the sitting area and we were actually able to sit there. If the place wasn’t virtually empty, would have been sitting in an area that was too cold to sit and eat. I imagine my dining experience would have been worse. Now to the food. This is as good as any Mexican food I’ve ever had and I’ve had a lot since moving to the Bay Area in 1999. My son ordered a super chicken burrito and it was so good he nearly finished it in under 3 minutes. I ordered the Chimichanga with rice and beans. They served it with a side of sour cream and guac and the pico de gallo was so fresh and delicious. I ordered the Chimichanga with steak and it was chopped up nice inside the crispy corn tortilla and the cheese was melted nicely as well. If you are in the neighborhood, don’t pass this place up. I can’t wait to go back and try something different. I’m anticipating it will be amazing.

I can not understand any of the reviews of this place. We read through them, looking for decent Mexican food in Napa and figured we’d give this place a try. It was terrible. Ordered some tacos(lengua, pastor, chile verde) cheese nachos and a carnitas burrito. The nachos were covered in cheese, beans and Cheez Fud signal orange food product rendering them inedible. The burrito had two bites of carnitas in a sea of rice and salt. Oh god the salt, I don’t know who the cook is but everything was so salty you could barely eat it. The pastor and verde were ok if you could overlook the salt issue and the lengua wasn’t too bad. We left 90% of the food on the table. If your definition of delicious, authentic Mexican food involves the same cheese sludge they serve to prison inmates, go for it.

Great local taqueria with solid burritos, tacos and other Mexican fare. Casual place with mostly locals– steady stream of people throughout the day

Love their fish tacos. So gooooddd! Also tried chili verde burrito which was good as well. Good size portion and average prices. This place is usually crowded during lunch hours. They have friendly staff. The fellow who took our order and brought us our food was very receptive and courteous. He smiled and asked if we wanted water refills.

We ordered a super burrito, veggie taco salad, 2 kinds of tacos, chips with salsa, and 3 servings of horchata. It was only 1:15 pm and they ran out of horchata. Service was oh so slow; one counter person for both counter and table service and 2 cooks. Everything was tasty. Fish taco tasted fresh. Spotless bathroom!

I only update reviews if my views change of the place. In this case it has. Since my first visit they have gotten a new cook which has made a big difference in the quality of the food. We’ve been back several times and I’ve actually enjoyed it, I like the food here a lot. The most important part of dining at a restaurant is consistency, which this place SORELYLACKS. Some days the tacos have handmade shells, some days they taste like they came from the store. Some days the ingredients are fresh and every bite is brimming with flavor and some days every bite is filled with burn rice, over cooked meat, and wilted veggies. Through trial and error is seems like when either of the brothers are at the window the food is amazing, I often call ahead to make sure before I just show up. I do enjoy eating here– it’s filling, tastes authentic, and affordable(but highly inconsistent).

This is a taqueria with a touch of class. Edgar greets guests with an enthusiastic, «How are you my friend?» He’s got a «slow food» attitude in a kitchen geared to bringing out the Mexican food — FAST. This is a family owned place where you order at a window and then have a seat, or take it to go. Brothers Leo and Edgar are exceptionally friendly and stylish. I have been grabbing quick lunches here for 14 years and in that time, tried everything on the menu — except what I don’t eat, lengua,(tongue) tripe, and medudo soup. Everything is consistently delicious and these guys and gals too, are willing to serve food that is not a menu«option». Just ask. Today I had pollo verde with guacamole. That’s it, and not listed on the menu. Chicken in green sauce with guacamole. It was garnished with cilantro and very tasty. TIP: If you don’t want your tostada, taco or burrito juicy, just ask. I can’t be trusted with a juicy entrée and always request that the meat and sauces be shaken out so that I don’t spill on myself. My point is, they will make your food the way you like it. If you don’t want rice or beans, customize your order. SUGGESTION: I’d like to see grilled chicken on the menu. As it stands, there are 3 juicy shredded chicken breast choices, house, verde, and mole. Don’t hate me, but I’d prefer to eat from real utensils over plastic — oh yeah — this is a taqueria. Someone mentioned that Tanya’s used to make nachos with shredded cheese but changed to liquid. I think they misremembered. It’s always been liquid since I’ve been coming here. Here’s the thing, if I wanted nachos made with shredded cheese and whatever else, meats, beans, sour cream, guacamole, pico de gallo, THEYWILL cheerfully DOIT. Just ask. Before joining the family business at Tanya’s, younger brother Edgar attended Le Cordon Bleu culinary school in San Francisco. Afterwards he worked with — was trained by Dave Cruz from Ad Hoc, at Brix, Bottega and Hurley’s. With his experience in up valley restaurants, Edgar brings an extra touch of class and customer service to the taqueria. This is a five star taqueria.

Best Carne Asada Super Burrito in Napa! I have eaten at Villa Corona, Tacos La Playita, Las Palmas, Taqueria Rosita, Don Perico’s, El Portillo(has now changed names), Guadalajara, Red Hen Cantina, Fridas, Tacos Michoacan(and probably others I am forgetting) in search of the best carne asada burrito in Napa. My boyfriend who swears that Tacos La Playita has the best carne asade burrito gives Tannya’s a close second. Service: the handsome man that works there and is an art teacher is SO nice and helpful. They can prepare the food really quick so I usually call it in on my way home from work and ask them to cut it in ½ and place in two separate foils. The guy that works there is the only way who ever makes sure they are cut in half. Price: Extremely affordable considering you get a huge burrito with guac, sour cream, and cheese if desired for around 6 bucks(no extra cost to add on the guac like other places)!! The only reason I am marking them down to 4 stars is because they do not take credit cards, only local checks and cash. The salsa is really good just make sure they understand that you want extra salsa and not hot sauce(I made that mistake for several months and thought that I didn’t like their salsa). Also, there is one lady that works there that is somewhat rude. Otherwise A++ for food quality.
