The only way that Rodney Worth is going to get 3 stars is on Unilocal. He has polluted Danville with mediocrity and now he is on to Napa. I’m sure that he’s a nice guy and has certainly been successful in a town where mediocrity rules, but I’m perplexed as to how such a restaurant can survive in a place with rich culinary history and success.

Super cute little restaurant! Seemed like a local bar hangout for the people of Napa. Make sure to make a reservation, I came on a Saturday and there was a long wait. I had the cajun prawns for my meal and they had very amazing flavor and were cooked perfectly. Also, for it being an appetizer, I thought it was a pretty large portion so kudos to that. However, the reason I am giving 3⁄5 stars is because the night we decided to go to The Pear it was pretty chilly outside and unfortunately, we were seated right by the front entrance. I was wearing a pretty thick jacket and boots and I was FREEZING! Everyone was coming in and out constantly and it was hard to really enjoy my food because I was so distracted by being cold. I was rushing to finish my meal so I could jet on out of there to warm up so maybe as a warning when its cold out to ask to sit in the back!!!

Food was good. Staff was good. I don’t know that I’ll go back, but it wasn’t a bad experience. It’s in a nice location. Might be nice in the summer as it has some outdoor seating.

The food was good as per usual. I am a huge fan of the ambience and the location. I was so enthusiastic when we finally got a restaurant like the pear however. My only complaint on my special Valentine’s Day brunch was the service! The concierge was amazing and super helpful I call her b but the server we had who was named Jason was horrible. Unfriendly, did not refill water or coffee or orange juice for my grandmother and my boyfriend and it took us 12 minutes being there for him to even address our table. I never complain about a popular place with great food and always busy but it’s a special day. He coulda been a little more attentive he only had 3 table including ours… Good food and bad server. Meh

I really wanted to love this place. I’ve wanted to come here for a while. I took my mamma who knows southern food. The staff was fabulous. Really great service. Ambience was perfect on a nice spring like winter day, we sat outside and the waitress made sure we were by a heater as my mamma was a bit cold. We ordered the fondue as an appetizer. It was pretty good. We decided to go all out and order the ribs with Cole slaw and fries and the chicken and waffle plate and we’d share, so we could try both. The portions were huge and everything looked really good. The fries were good and the waffles were above average with bacon cooked into them. The ribs and the chicken were both very bland. The chicken actually tasted like it had been fried in old oil. The Cole slaw was also quite tasteless. We were disappointed especially since our bill came to $ 65.00 for the two of us.

Came here for Napa Valley Restaurant Week because the two-course lunch menu sounded so delicious. I had high expectations coming in seeing the pictures of all the food — but was a little underwhelmed. Food was delicious and filled me up, but they were smaller portions than I expected(the restaurant week portions are about half the size of the regular menu portions). PARKING: Free 3hr parking in the parking structure(there are several parking structures around the area). LOCATION: The restaurant is located on the side of the river and not on the main street. FOOD: Came here for Restaurant Week, but took a look at the regular menu too. There were a lot of delicious options! Both brunch and lunch menus were available. For restaurant week, I ordered: — French Onion Soup — It was a cold day and this was great! Wish it was served a little hotter, so I could let it cool down before I eat it. It was a cold day and it didn’t necessarily«warm me up». Soup was served warm and ready to eat — lots of cheeeeese. — Beer Battered Chicken & Waffles — Plated with one chicken and half a waffle, served with some pear-bourbon maple syrup. Basically a fried chicken breast(really moist!), batter was great — not oily at all. What made the dish was definitely the pear-bourbon maple syrup though! I poured that over everything!

I’ve ate at The Pear several times! My first time was excellent! Service was great, food arrived quickly m, outdoor seating is beautiful! Environment is very clean! My second time I dined inside. It was busy, food was great, and our server explained everything I wanted to know on the menu. I am a returning customer!

I went here last night with some friends. Based on the mixed reviews I wasn’t sure how I would like it. I started with the beet salad which was a lovely mix of golden and red beets with pistachios, goat cheese on organic greens. The salad had all the right flavors and was just so delicious! My main dish was the chicken and waffles. This is one of the«popular» items and I totally get why! The waffles were scrumptious with bacon bits mixed in to add to the sweet and savory dreamy combination. The chicken was cooked perfectly and not greasy at all. Such a fantastic treat! Wine menu has some nice offerings as we went with a Pine Ridge Chenin blanc Viognier and it was a great way to start the dinner. Service was fast and friendly. My friends seemed to enjoy the prime rib special and salmon dish. Overall I was pleasantly surprised, portions were good size and I would definitely go back!

We love Rodney Worths restaurants and this was our first visit to the Pear Southern Bistro. Situated on the Napa Valley River the restaurant although small is decorated beautifully with wine and glass décor. Our server for lunch is Shelly. Shelly epitomizes excellence in service and we could not be happier as we were spoiled by this wonderful lady. We order fried pickles and tater tots for our appetizers. They are cooked beautifully with a wonderful flavored texture. I opt for the muffuletta with crispy fries. The muffuletta was flavorful although could be better with a better bun and more olive tapenade. Fries are world class and enough for a small family. Worth provides a great restaurant experience and with servers such as Shelly you have a formula for success.

Called for reservations and was given a choice of 5 or 7 pm… Odd?! When we arrived at 5 the place was empty. When we left at 7 it had filled, but still had tables available. Would have loved to sit for dinner at 6. SERVICE: Our waitress was attentive and did not rush us. The dirty dishes were cleared away swiftly. She cheerfully offered a wet napkin for those who ate ribs. The food came straight from the kitchen piping hot! FOOD: The servings were plentiful and flavorful. We started with the cheese fondue — EXCELLENT! Maybe offer a few more bread cubes when there is fondue cheese left over… !!! Our party ordered baby back ribs, fish & chips, gumbo & the prime rib sandwich. Everything was great tasting. The prime rib sandwich was big and served with au jus for dipping. Some of the meat on the ribs was tough & chewy but the flavors were good. Gumbo was a large bowl full of lots of goodies. The fish & chips was fried catfish instead of halibut — a nice change. For dessert we had the cast iron cookie, ice cream & chocolate sauce. Awesome for two people to split. WINELIST: Moderately priced wines averaging $ 35 – 50. Good wine list & not overwhelming. LOCATION: Kind of hard to find, facing the river. There are no signs on the street, so don’t look for them. Free parking is available in the public parking garage across the street. Worth the trek and hassle to find. OVERALLIMPRESSION: Good tasty food, respectful sized servings, at a fair price. Excellent service.

Loved this place! We’re from the East Bay and really enjoy the Worth Group restaurants but this was our first time to their Napa location. We brought another couple and enjoyed 4 different entrees(all amazing!) as well as 2 delicious desserts. We happened to come on a Wine Wednesday so most bottles were ½ price. Our waiter was very attentive without being bothersome and quite knowledgable with the menu. Thanks Rod… loved the overall experience and can’t wait to come back!

Possibly the most uninspiring Po Boy I’ve ever had. And to add insult to that the fries were greasy and soggy.

pop in while touring Napa. Ambiance was nice. Acoustic guitar player outside. I ordered the chicken and waffles. Was just ok. Too much batter for my taste on the chicken. E had the gumbo ya ya. It was flavorful but a lil too thick and not a ton if seafood. But the fried green tomatoes were a 10. AMAZING. Our waiter was super nice. $ 60 for lunch in Napa I guess is normal lol

The Pear Southern Bistro is a great place for dinner. I recommend making a reservation because when we walked in on a Saturday night there was a bit of a wait. Service was prompt and the food was great! We ordered the Fondue for our appetizer and it was very good! They give you small pieces of bread, grapes and pear slices to dip in the cheese. It was delicious! I ordered the fish tacos and my husband ordered the Black and Blue Salad and Macaroni and Cheese. They were all very good too! The Pear Southern Bistro is a great place for a nice dinner with great service!

A group of my very good friends and I decided to dine here to celebrate my friend’s birthday. First and foremost, the scenery here is beautiful! We dined outside on the waterfront patio on a beautiful day with perfect weather, which was perfect for the occasion. The food items that we ordered was a hit or miss for me. The chicken and waffles were delightful, especially since they mix bacon bits into the waffle batter!!! It’s seriously a party in your mouth when you try that dish! The fries, tater tots, and crab did were also delicious; however, the other appetizer dishes weren’t that great to me. Some of the dishes made me feel like I was over paying for mediocre food. The service we received was average. Our waiter wasn’t super friendly(probably just has a stand-off personality in general), but he was attentive to our needs. He did make some great food suggestions to my friends though. Overall, I wasn’t overly impressed with this restaurant. I wouldn’t mind going back for the chicken & waffles and also to try their other dishes(especially their dessert items). 3 out of 5 stars.

Manoman, this place has improved. I came here when it first opened and was sorely disappointed. Bad food, bad service. Something magical has happened and the Pear has it’s sh*t together. I sat at the bar, had excellent, friendly service. They have a great wine list — one of the best I’ve seen with good prices. I enjoyed two glasses of Starmont Rose. My food was great — chicken and waffles and for an appetizer, the baked potato fondue which was one of the most delicious and decadent treats ever. I loved it! For dessert, the baked chocolate chip cookie it was freaking divine. Can’t wait to go back to carb up. Glad the Pear finally has it going on.

DH and I had lunch here and the food and service was good. The patio is great for an afternoon lunch and the chicken club sandwich is awesome. The chicken cobb salad had some pieces of undesirable chicken however :-( I would come back and I bet they do a great romantic dinner, good selection of wine and beer.

We came in late afternoon/early evening, just as they were switching to the dinner menu. We asked to be seated in the patio so we could enjoy the views and were promptly seated as there was an abundance of seating due to our awkward timing. We were handed lunch menus and as we looked over them, our waiter came by with waters and also brought us dinner menus and let’s us know we could order from either! The patio area is right next to the river. The atmosphere is light and romantic. Our server(Andrew?) was efficient and friendly! He answered all our questions and really seemed to know the menu inside and out. We enjoyed the Mac and cheese which seems to have mixed reviews on Unilocal.I ordered it reluctantly. Mac and cheese is without a doubt one of my favorite things in the world. It seems that it’s a hit or miss with people here and luckily I loved it. We also had a few drinks and shared an order of fish and chips. Everything was delicious. We came in here on a whim based on Unilocal reviews and I’m glad we stopped by. I’d love to come back and try more menu items in the future.

Met my sister here for dinner. It was comfortable and laid back. The front entry has a fun chandelier made from wine bottles hanging. We both decided on the Cucumber Jalapeño Margaritas. Mine without salt & hers with. Both were tasty and refreshing. We started off with the Crab Artichoke dip. So creamy and warm. For entrees, again, we both decided on the grilled salmon. It was a good portion, cooked perfectly, served on top of fingerling potatoes and broccoli with sauce… Good stuff! We didn’t feel rushed during our meal. Grant, our sever was friendly enough, but when he forgot the cucumbers on our second round of drinks, he seemed irritated when I asked for some. I mean, it’s a Cucumber Margarita… Hello? We finished off our meal with their flourless chocolate cake. One slice to share! Pistachios on top are a nice compliment. Gives it a bit of that savory taste to accommodate the rich chocolate. Overall, nice vibe to the place, our server, however, could’ve had a better attitude. With all the places to eat in Napa, don’t know that I’ll return anytime soon.
