Can’t say enough good things about this place. Beautiful, quiet, intimate. Our group was assisted by Alli, who was beyond helpful and friendly. To top it off, we loved the wines. Looking forward to a return visit!

We saw pictures on Unilocal and the place looked beautiful. The estate looked much smaller in person. We also notice the sign that stated wine tasting was by appointment only; we didn’t have a reservation but we were allowed to taste 5 wines for $ 35. The hostess was nice. The wine was all pretty good and she gave us good pours. However, we tried to order the Saluni and cheese plate and they ran out. Overall, good experience if you like a more quiet environment.

We loved this winery! The tasting room and outdoor patio are quaint and beautiful, service is very friendly, and we really liked the Pinots! We made a reservation for the tasting with salumi and cheese and were pleasantly surprised by the size and variety of the platter. The only thing that keeps me from giving 5 stars is that they don’t refund any of the tasting fees with wine purchase. We will be back!

What a gem! It’s right next to the Del Dotto Winery in Napa and it’s easy to miss. I got a gift certificate for it on Gilt City and I’m so glad I did. We got the classic tasting with cheese and salumi platter. The platter was chock full of deliciousness — two types of salumi, two spreads(spicy chutney and a pesto spread), two types of cheeses, and candied hazelnuts and almonds. Our pourer told us that they source the plate from Napa Style. Our tasting was on a grey and rainy day, but the atmosphere inside is warm and cozy. Our pourers were super friendly and accommodating. They poured us water often and described the wines to us in detail. It just felt like a family ran business, very different from the big tasting rooms you visit around the area. I truly enjoyed my experience here and would love to come back soon.

I can’t say enough good about this small family-owned winery. It is a small French château, intimate and interesting. When you enter and experience Whetstone, you are entering their home. Their wines are lovely and it’s a pleasure to talk with Michelle and Jamey about their history. I appreciate that they discourage bachelorette parties; it is not a bar or a party venue. It is a time to take in the wines and ambiance. Michelle is business like and professional, not rude. Take a minute or two to ask her about the winery, their history and the wines. It’s an experience not to miss!

We walked into the the most amazing ambiance to do a wine tasting for 15 people. The atmosphere was so cozy with a large fire roaring right when you walk in. The wine was amazing, the service was beyond exceptionalI will continue to frequent this winery every time I come back to Napa.

Not a busy weekend. Went to get a bottle of wine and decided to sit in their patio area. Unfortunately they charge a fee to sit in their chairs. Rather than upsetting my group I paid the lady and went to enjoy our wine feeling gouged. They did offer us cold water and maybe that’s what the fee was for? I have had cold water at wineries before but was never charged… I have sat in picnic areas at wineries and as long as we are buying their wine it was totally fine to sit as long as we like and use their glasses. If whetstone wants people to come back it might be a good idea to not charge people fees on top of purchases… restaurants even offer free corkage to get customers in the door… Why would a winery charge a service fee? Your not waitresses? You are a juice pourer/wine education! I feel sorry for the person who made the decision to charge fee’s here. Really! Wine country Hospitality don’t!

This was an absolute letdown. Expected a beautiful peaceful wine tasting experience, instead we were seated next to a very busy road with cars and trucks passing by at 60mph. They do not participate in Napa Neighbor, and DONOTWAIVETASTINGFEESEVENWITHMULTIPLEPURCHASESORWINECLUBMEMBERSHIP! I am not looking for free tasting but with purchase the tasting should be waived. That is how I feel customers should be treated. It’s my opinion, and I will never ever ever recommend anyone to go here.

What an adorable place to visit and enjoy some wine! It’s charming for sure! I bought a couple of bottles to take home to share with my Phoenix friends. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that the winemaker is from my hometown of Charleston, SC. .. And sad that he wasn’t around to meet him. The almonds offered with your tasting are amazing. The only negative point is that they don’t waive tasting fees if you buy wine. I bought $ 195 of wine on the spot but was still charged the $ 30 tasting fee. I would still give them 5 stars and recommend stopping here. I think they are appointments only, so call ahead!

Delicious wine. Friendly southern hospitality. Laid back atmosphere. They were kind enough to fit us in for a tasting when we came across their place. They were also sweet to let us in a couple days later to buy their Chardonnay on Memorial Day when they were closed. Also, the nuts that come with the tasting are addicting. A must try vineyard in Napa :)

Whestone offers very solid wines and a cute yet casual, inviting property. They have plenty of couch seating inside as well as outside. Our hosts were welcoming and friendly. We wanted to get comfortable outside the property so they allowed us to sit at one of the tables without reservations and we opted for the $ 30 tasting(4 pours). We were a bit surprised that they don’t waive tasting fees if one wishes to buy wine, though. The wine portfolio is quite good — the Pinots were especially good(tasted two, one bottle was $ 50 and the other was $ 85). Overall, I would highly recommend stopping by if you’re in the Atlas Peak Road area or visiting neighboring wineries(Del Dotto, Kenzo, Jarvis)!

Beautiful location, and a perfect outdoor tasting experience. The ladies pouring the wine were very pleasant and knowledgeable. At the end of the tasting they asked if there was anything we’d like to revisit, and not many wineries do that. I’d love to visit Whetstone again!

My husband and I had a lovely experience at this winery after visiting quite a few in the area. This is our second trip to Napa/Sonoma. We don’t get out to the west coast often so we do our research before arriving. This winery was everything we expected and more. Friendly and knowledgable staff from start to finish. The owners are very passionate about what they do and it shows through in the wine they produce and the atmosphere of their location.

Amazing experience, great wine. The scenery is stunning– gorgeous setting. The staff was super friendly and helpful. Even met one of the owners. Cornhole outside– comfy couches inside. LOVED the Chardonnay and the Viognier. Pinot noir was awesome as well. Cannot miss at this winery.

Definitely a GEM here in Napa! Loved the service from the two ladies at the winery. We felt very relaxed sitting outside and just listening to the wind make its way through the trees and leaves. We bought several wines from this place and told the next winery where we just came from. They completely agreed that this place was a great way to start our Napa Adventure! Yay to Whetstone!

3 years ago while having dinner at Redd in Yountville, I had the yummiest and my first Whetstone Pinot Noir. Since then they’ve been on my must visit list. I finally made it this winter and what a beautiful place! Michelle the winemaker & winemaker’s wife gave us a little bit of history as she poured our wine. Definitely a treat! The building is apparently over 100 years old… I want to say 1840s or 1890s. And they’ve spent years renovating. All that hard work is appreciated. It’s been brought back to life so beautifully! This was my picture perfect wine tasting experience, hands down. You know how Napa is new world… well this was a whole lot of old world right in the center of it all. Simple, elegant & rustic. I think visits are by appointment only. If you’re on a tour like I was, see if they can add this place to your day. Oh and their 2011 Pinot Noir did not disappoint.

A perfect experience! My sister and I went in without an appointment and were greeted immediately with a warm smell and comforting feeling! The girl who was working was super friendly and walked us through the whole process. She was generous with her offerings and made sure we were completely satisfied. Also, the wine was delicious! Especially the Pinot Noir :)
