Glenmuir of Naperville

My husband and I relocated to the Naperville area for work about a year ago. We decided to rent from Glenmere because they were running a special and we really liked the price and the spaciousness of the apartment. We relocate a lot for work and have stayed in a number of apartment complexes and boy did we really get the short end of the stick with this place. From day one we have had issues with our dishwasher it caught on fire twice, flooded our kitchen four times and then caused our sink to back up numerous times because it was never fixed appropriately. The carpet was disgusting, but we decided that we would rent a steam cleaner and clean it ourselves, the walls were never repainted from the previous owner and there is oil marks and stains all over the paint. One of our bedroom doors fell off the hinges onto my husband, our plumbing sucks, and their maintenance man is completely useless. Every single time we have ever had him out he has suggested we fix it ourselves or it goes left unfixed. For the first five months we live here our dryer didn’t dry and we had asked them over seven times to come out to fix it and it was never fixed, until I went into the office and created a scene. We didn’t have air-​conditioning throughout the summer and now during the winter our fireplace doesn’t work. Unfortunately, we had to sign a another years lease because we won’t be moving for another year and a half, but I would not recommend this apartment complex to anyone. The staff is not helpful, there is no sense of urgency, the grounds are disgusting and filled with litter, the gym is unusable and I cannot wait for this next year to go by so that we can move out of this place.

I think the sparkle of this place has worn off. As I mentioned in my previous review when we first moved in the entire place smelled of cat urine. After three weeks they finally worked with us and replaced the carpeting. Now in the last 9 months I have noticed the following… the little gym they keep is always dirty, equipment is always broken. The grounds are now always littered. No landscaping any longer. What used to make this place pretty to walk around is gone. From my personal perspective here is what we have experienced. The management has pretty much become the wal-​mart of apartments. Corporate and do not care. Our garage door has been broken for 5 weeks. And despite our repeated attempts to contact them (calls, emails, even stopping in) it is still not fixed. Finally their one repair guy stopped by (I think they have 1 for 24 buildings?) and let us know he had to order a part. Then nothing. I followed up a week later and the management knew nothing of the part or the problem so we had to start from scratch. Again, he came by, noted he had to order a part and now the part has been on back order for 2.5 weeks. It is January in Chicagoland and we cannot use our garage… at all.
They are rude and unresponsive. I used to tell people I loved living here. Now I can’t wait to get out.

I have lived here for almost 3 years and since the new management has taken over I am so much happier. The staff is much friendlier and cares about the issues you are having. The maintenance staff is remarkable. If put an order in to have something fixed it is fixed with in a day or to. The old team would take their time. It took 2 weeks for me to get a microwave put in. Do you know how hard it is to live without a microwave!!! If you are looking for a really nice community and friendly staff I would recommend you come live here.
