Good place for seafood when preparing for an at home feast. I bought a dozen lobster tails for a dinner at home and they were high quality and ordering was easy. Prices weren’t too bad-they’re cold water lobster tails after all! I’ve had meals at their grill and it’s been decent, but could be better. The staff are very friendly, and I recommend going there when planning on a dinner party at home or buying a good amount of seafood to prepare versus the many subpar grocery stores in/around Naperville(Mariano’s can’t open soon enough!).

This place is great, they have a great selection of fresh and frozen seafood. Fresh little necks are perfect for pasta dishes, hell I shucked a few raw before I threw them in! Try their prawns, they are gigantic and outstanding. John will guide you and if you desire, cook for you as well. Great old school establishment and a great find!

This place is amazing. End of conversation. Seriously though this should be your western suburban GOTO for fresh, beautiful fish! The combination of knowledge and customer service as well as experience is no less than incredible. When you talk to or interact with what I assume is the owner of this blistful small locally owned business, John I think, you will melt faster than the fresh king salmon will in your mouth… I was desperately looking for sashimi grade fish to accompany the sushi kit I bought for the sister for her birthday(outside of Lawrence fish market) and I stumbled upon Succulent Seafood which I had previously been recommended by a trusted foodie friend for the cooked goods. I have to say these folks were not only helpful but super cool and helpful! According to Jim he can get anything with about a weeks notice. I’ll be in to get yellow tail for sushi by request. This should be the hottest seafood joint outside of city limits. Please support this place because we need more of these types of businesses to flourish like fresh salmon against the stream. Good, if not great fish, accompanied by superb customer service? Lifetime customer right here. Look we live in the land of corn… 800 miles from the ocean. This may be the only place outside of Chicago that has fresh fish flown in on regular basis. I’ll prepare you a nigiri platter if you are disappointed, but I seriously doubt that will happen.

Shrimp Shacks are a dime a dozen in Chicago. Every neighborhood has one. Once you leave the city limits they become a rarity. The fact that a place like this exists at all in the western suburbs warrants some attention. Naperville just happens to have one. The«Jumbo Shrimp» oxymoron is in full effect because the fried shrimp offered here are“Large” at best! However in a few minutes cooking time, the six count portion is devoured in equal time. «A crave has been satisfied»! The carry-out presentation is visually disheveled. They must have a quota on the frozen matchstick fries…15 to 20 per order and not to exceed 21. Very Stingy! The container of Cole Slaw was MIA while the watery slurry of cocktail sauce… not bad! The lemon wedge sat there looking pretty just waiting to be squeezed. Seafood is a tough business which requires some big«cajones» just to pull it off! I’ll give them credit for that and overlook some shortcomings…“just because”.

The fresh fish/seafood selection is somewhat limited but it has always been extremely fresh. My family always enjoys when I can find fresh tuna from here because it is always excellent. The butterfish has also always been fantastic as well. I would say to try and visit early in the day for the best selection. John is also a great resource to determine what you may want to try as well as portion sizes to consider.

What a great find, right in the neighborhood. They fly the seafood in daily and it is fantastic. I have introduced many friends to them as well. Great salmon and other seafood at really reasonable prices and they custom cut whatever you need. Try it and you won’t want to purchase seafood anywhere else! They will even cook it for you while you wait if you want! The best!

Very friendly, rare place where you can get about any fish/lobster-have them cook it and bring home or wrap it up and cook your self. The owner even will give you instructions how to make it. Great small business and better than any box store. Thanks Succulent Seafood.

I don’t understand how in the world this place can even exist in today’s economy? The place is dirty, the fresh fish selection is poor at best and you’re going to pay whole foods prices. Then there are huge freezers full of god knows what? Everything I’ve purchased from here has been so totally average yet not priced accordingly. I just keep thinking it’s a drug front cause every time I try to get some decent fresh fish, they just look at me weirdly when I’m staring into the case trying to figure this place out — a few clams here and there, a bag of mussels, and some old dried out perch. Kinda like fish props. Wondering what’s going on in the back? I mean really…

Stopped by for a quick lunch before heading home from Naperville. I was able to pick out my fresh fish and see it being prepared right in front of me. Couldn’t decide between grouper, arctic char or wild salmon. Opted for wild salmon lunch special — grilled with a light drizzle of honey dijon and a side of fresh grilled asparagus and fettucini al dente with a little bit of butter sauce. All this for $ 8.99 a plate! Needless to say that the fresh grilled fish tasted incredibly delicious. The owner is super friendly and said that they get their fish flown in fresh daily. Who new there was such a gem in a strip mall in Naperville. Highly recommended.

Amazingly fresh, highest quality seafood around! I usually get Ahi tuna, salmon or sea bass. Very helpful staff! Have not tried any frozen items or shellfish yet. I’m not usually a fan of seafood soups or chowders but John was making a seafood bisque and offered a sample and OMG. Delicious! Prices are a bit higher than supermarket«fresh» fish but you get what you pay for. Never been disappointed with any products or recommendations. Favorite seafood market ever!

Delicious fried shrimp. My dad absolutely loves them, and is a frequent customer. I do, however, get a little concerned about the cleanliness of their cooking facilities each time I stop in.

This review is based on only one visit which is probably unfair. However, 4 stars for the service. I love when people truly want to help their customers. This place doss it vert well. Just bought some shrimp and Mahi Mahi. Very nice, but I’m still impressed by the attention to service. I can’t wait to actually try the food on the menu.

I love this place. I’ve been buying seafood from John for about 12 years now. The crab cakes are very good – check them out in the freezer section. The tuna is so fresh that you can make sushi from it yourself and I recommend giving it a try! I’ve also cured my own wild-caught salmon and made lox. John will take good care of you! I’ve always been happy with the quality of the seafood I’ve bought there.

I can’t say enough about Succulent Seafood. John the owner and Peggy are so nice and helpful. They will custom cook your fish for you if you’d like. During the summer you see kids going there for lunch. I guess their fries are awesome! The place isn’t big but they are sure big on service and friendliness!

Every few years I go back and see if Succulent Seafood has enlarged its stock of seafood. This trip was no different. Limited selected of overpriced frozen seafood. Limited selection of fresh. Go to Super H instead.

Tried this based on a review of a Unilocal friend Rachell J. It was amazing. I grew up in the city and this place reminds me of DiCola’s was a family favorite. At Succulent Seafood you have a choice to buy fresh fish and seafood to take home and cook or to buy it semi-prepared(marinated, seasoned, breaded) or prepared fish/seafood from their menu to take home or eat in at one of the few bistro tables. I tried the fried jumbo shrimp and it was fantastic. Large shrimp the breading was nicely flavored and still crisp(and not greasy) when I got home. I also purchased salmon and sea bass to cook at home. I found the fish to be priced either the same or better than the supermarket and the salmon was wild instead of farm raised. A great DiCola’s like experience(Chicago South-Siders understand) in Naperville. Thanks for the review that got my attention Rachell J! P. S. I list it as pricey because seafood in general is pricey but you get a lot of value and it is the same to slightly cheaper than supermarket prices.

So, when you walk into this place you will immediately wonder exactly what they do here. There’s a menu as if they are a restaurant, yet there’s a variety of grocery like items, and further back is a case filled with fresh seafood cuts. Is it a restaurant, a fish monger, or a grocery? Part of me hates giving a place like this 5 stars. It’s small and has a less than ideal atmosphere. That said, it is the best place to get fresh or cooked seafood in at least a 20 mile radius(34th Street Fishery does come close). John will cook anything for you on the spot at a more than reasonable price. The scallops, crab cakes, and cheese balls are my favorite. Don’t let the whiteboad above the stove limit you. If they have some fresh seafood in(skate, perhaps) that is not on the menu, they are generally happy to cook it up for you. One last thing to note. If you want the best fresh fish, fresh lobster, crab legs, or other seafood, this is the place to go. I usually go to pick up fish for the week and get a nice lunch while I am there. If there’s something specific you are looking for, ask. They have been able to get a lot of fish in for me at special request.

Succulent enough for seconds, you can count on it. A little seafood confection hidden off of the beaten path of Gartner, Succulent Seafood offers a nice array of bite worthy salt water offerings that can be grilled, baked or mashed together for a mouth watering salad. The deli is home to not only fresh and frozen selections but also a pitstop for a mid day sandwich or roughly constructed meal. I was in search for calamari to be added to gazpacho and decided to try them out to see what was in stock. The fresh fish selection is impressive considering the location and the fact that the deli is in a far western suburb. The items are no different than a seaport give or take the larger frozen selection and the more variety for picnic favorites like crab salad or seafood salad. I was impressed with the filet cuts and the assortment of thawed on ice types of fish like salmon, cod and shrimp. Automatically drawn over to see if there was calamari, I was lucky to find the rings and quickly nabbed one of the many bags available. While it’s only rings and no tentacles one can’t complain. It’s fresh, pre-cut and ready to be thawed. Capped out at $ 13.00 for the entire bag, I would say this was a job well done. When in need for some seafood and not feeling like leaving the local area I would definitely give Succulent Seafood a call. The service is on the money, prices are in tact and the variety is definitely noted.

This was a nice find. My parents love seafood so we ran out to get some grillins. I’ve been on a couple occasions now. The first time I bought escolar, which I’d never heard of. As it turns out, escolar is somewhat controversial because some businesses try to pass off a similar tasting fish as escolar that makes people quite sick. Any, I don’t mean to confuse things — the escolar at this market is the real deal. Delicious. GREAT on the grill. Another time I got sea bass, which was melt-in-your-mouth fresh and wonderful. The fish guy is great at helping you find the perfect catch. Best of all, the nice lady at the register gave me 10% off my first purchase, just cuz.
