Ate there the first time tonight. Wow! Everything was seasoned incredibly well, the waiter was friendly and knowledgeable. We were the only non-Indians in the place, which is always a good sign. I had the goat curry, which was excellent. My wife had the shrimp curry, ditto. The big surprise was the chicken fried rice. DONOTMISSTHIS. Spicy and delicious, nothing like the Chinese fried rice you’re used to. It took longer than I thought it would for the food to arrive at our table, but I take that to mean that they’re cooking to order, rather than having bins of it in warming trays. Really like this place, will become a regular.

Excellent food. Ordered Egg curry and Kaju curry and Vegetable Dun Briyani and Hot and Sour chicken soup. My daughter who is a picky eater loved the egg curry. Definitely will visit again!

This is my third time(delivery) ordering from Deccan and I figured its time I wrote a review. Food is EXCELLENT, and now I find myself craving good, authentic Southie food once a week! They don’t always have the all dishes I want, but honestly they also always substitute what they don’t have with something equally great! I wish I knew about them sooner! The Chettinad Chicken is one of my favourites, and so is the any of the fish dishes. Currently slowly, but surely making my way thru the entire menu: D

Tasty, authentic food. Mastery of both South and North Indian cuisine. The sambaar and dosas were delicioso. We went for the lunch buffet and were blown away by how great it was. These guys aren’t phoning it in — they care and ask if you need anything during your meal. I was definitely surprised by the low key atmosphere, but the place is new and word probably hasn’t gotten out yet. As an Indian, I hate most«Indian» restaurants that cater to the lcd dishes and truly appreciate the few masters of their craft who put out amazing new dishes that are inspired and exciting. I don’t eat out in the burbs very often, but will def be going back to this place.

What little I’ve had of Indian food I’ve liked, but admittedly I’ve not had much experience. So perhaps this is what chicken curry is supposed to be… cut up in small pieces with bones not removed, smothered in sauce? I found myself eating very gingerly around what little meat there was before I finally gave up for fear of choking. The flavor of the sauce was good though. Probably won’t go again. My daughter had the Tandoori chicken and the portion seemed small for what we paid.

Tried this place a couple times. Just another Indian restaurant. All the hype about best Briyani in town is very not true. They had good variety in the buffet but the food was not flavorful and authentic. All of seemed to taste the same. Hope things get better!

Absolutely UNREAL experience ordering from here via grubhub tonight. After waiting an hour and a half for delivery, I called the restaurant, who advised me that they left our food outside our door and didn’t try to ring the bell. I walked outside. No food. I called the restaurant back and said there was no food outside. The person I spoke with, Anthony, then began to get very loud and demanded that I was wrong, the food was outside our apartment building door, and the driver took a photo of it to prove me wrong. Despite me standing outside and no food in sight, he just rambled on and on about our(nonexistent) «happy holidays!» sign and that he’s certain his driver will prove me wrong. I called grubhub livid about this situation. They called the restaurant, who advised they’d sent the driver back out to show me where the food is. It’s freezing cold outside. I wait. Finally, a lovely woman comes walking up to me with her dog — to advise she found a bag of food at her door, checked the receipt, and brought it to me. I live at 519. She lives at 503. I called grubhub back to demand some sort of action for this $ 100 bag of ice cold food left errantly at the wrong house. They call the restaurant and Anthony advises them that they’ve already spoken to my husband(whose number they don’t have and who never called them?) and he said everything was fine so I shouldn’t get a refund. I advised that was a 100% complete fabrication. They called the restaurant again who finally conceded and agreed to refund me the total(almost $ 100!) of the cold, abandoned food. The way I was screamed at by the restaurant, their driver’s willingness to leave food at the wrong address, and not to buzz or call when it arrived, and their subsequent lies to me and grubhub are all reprehensible. Don’t order from here. I will never stray from Indian Harvest ever again.

So we happened upon Deccan Spice tonight because they were on Grubhub. Didn’t really know what we were doing as far as Indian food but hey, it’s something different than the same lame late night delivery choices. Let’s do it! Ordered fairly randomly except for Samosas. We knew what those were. We got Tandoori Chicken, Schezwan Fried Rice w Chicken, Onion Pakora, and Samosas. The Onion Pakora is basically an Indian version of an onion ring, but with more thought put into it. They were good but not outstanding. Everything else was amazing! The rice is highly recommended. A lot of effort put into presentation too. Fresh vegetable garnish with everything. Tandoori Chicken was very good. We’ll definitely order again.

Not very well versed in Indian cuisine, I will make this short. Been to Deccan Spice twice, once for weekend lunch buffet: big selection of food at $ 12.99(?); the other time for dinner. You can find biryani in every Indian restaurant but I heard Hyderabadi biryani is most famous and Deccan Spice is supposed to feature Hyderabadi cuisine. The fish biryani I had here are spiced very differently from the Indian restaurant across street from my house, and spicier too. Both my friend and I liked it, and the portion is huge. The chicken curry we had was a little too mild on its own(we requested mild I think?), but a welcomed relief from the spicy biryani. Service was good, ambience nice. P. S. We bought a Groupon in November 2015 but was told they had issues with Groupon so anything bought in December or later would not be accepted. Consider yourself warned.

Visiting my parents for the holidays and was craving Biryani. We decided to try Deccan Spice as they boast they have the best Biryani in town. Tried the Goat Dum Biryani today and it was NOTGOOD for the following reasons: — not flavorful like Biryani is supposed to be — barely any meat on the bones. I asked for extra meat when ordering but was assured there is plenty of meat in the regular order. NOTTRUE. Only 5 small pieces of goat and each one was 80−90% bone. Deccan needs to either add more pieces to each order or use better pieces of meat — The meat is DRY does not fall off the bone like some other better Biryani places. Can’t speak for any other dishes but based on this experience I will NOT be returning to this place again. Definitely NOT worth the $ 15 price tag! If you are a true fan of Biryani do not order the goat. Chicken is better.

Wow really great Indian food! Delicious samosa, butter chicken, curries. Need to specify«mild» otherwise super spicy! Nice little hidden spot in Gartner plaza. Only critique would be that almost all the meat dishes contain nuts. They use a cashew paste to help thicken the sauces. Those with nut allergies should be aware of this when they order. I had to amend my review of this place from 5 stars to 4 stars to 2 stars. While the food is very good, I am extremely disappointed with how they handled nut allergies. My son is allergic to nuts — but not severely… he can generally eat food when the labels say«contain traces» and we are not a nut-free home. When I ordered food from here I was told that cashew paste was used as a thickener in most dishes. I asked the manager what foods did not have nuts(as long as nuts were not an ingredient in the dish, he can eat it). I was told that the vegetable curry and the egg biryani that I ordered were nut-free and he could safely consume. Fast forward 2 hours and we are in the emergency room with my son having an anaphylactic reaction to the egg biryani. I further looked at the dish and there were whole cashews and other nuts mixed in with the rice(although it was very hard to tell bc the rice was all different colors and there were other veggies mixed in). Needless to say my son got very sick and we ended up at the hospital for several hours while he was treated. It was extremely disappointing how this restaurant handled this. I would have greatly preferred if they told me that he could not safely eat ANYTHING because they weren’t sure about the contents rather than assure me that dishes did not have nuts when in fact they did. They might be better served to have a more detailed description of the food — including highlighting those that have nuts so that they can be avoided if necessary. As much as we enjoyed the food here, we will most likely not return.

My wife and I went for dinner to this Retaurant and mostly loved our experience. Food is good but please ask them to make it mild. If not you are dead. Food is very hot especially the Chilli chicken. Nice size servings and very friendly service. Apollo fish and chicken biryani are good. I would like to go back and try lunch buffet next time to sample other menu items. Again food here is hot for Indian people, non-Indians make sure you go mild. Your stomach will thank me later.

I spent a couple of days in the Chicago area and had dinner one night with Uncle Mike. He suggested Deccan Spice in Naperville, which was close to both of us. I was hungry for Indian food anyway. I was hoping for a good experience since this is so convenient when we visit in the area. I was not disappointed and would say it was better than a couple of other comparable Naperville places where I have eaten. We started with Chili Shrimp. These had decent flavor and some heat. I liked them OK, but would look for another appetizer. The Shrimp get lost in the spices. We ended up with two chicken dishes to share. The Chettinad Chicken Curry was very good, cooked with an array of traditional spices and some tomato. The masala included a little cinnamon. I would certainly order this again. Our other choice was the Andhra Chicken Korma. It was a typical Korma dish, creamy and mild. We liked them both but agreed that the Chettinad Curry was more interesting. Neither was particularly spicy hot, but I’m thinking the Chettinad would be good to order on the spicier side. They have a very nice selection of breads. Our order of Butter Naan was delivered as Plain Naan, but was fine to scoop up the curry with. Our service was very helpful and attentive. The restaurant is pleasant and nicely appointed. I look forward to a return visit with a larger group so that we can sample a broader range.

New place, lot to learn but quite satisfied no regrets. gobi manchurian is one the best i had in States must try, Biryani not upto the mark as it claims to be their specialty but not that bad either. Over all mixed reviews, I will go again once it has grown enough with experience. PS: Veg biryani was a disaster so veggie folks dont even think to try it there are other options on the menu to try but this.

Great food! Great food! Great food! If you like Indian food this is the place. I personally love the okra and the chicken curry. Cooked to perfection. There are other great dishes, those two were my favorites. They do serve alcohol, which is a plus. If you haven’t tried it, you’re missing out!

Had dinner at Deccan Spice recently. Seemed like an obvious choice given the park nearby the restaurant had the 4th of July fireworks display. We were started off with roasted papad and chutney. We ordered chili paneer that was really the way we like it– hot and spicy with soft paneer. We then got the tomato soup which didn’t disappoint. Main course was egg curry with naan. Now, I have never been impressed with any egg curry I have had in the Chicagoland area but this egg curry definitely stood out. Not only that, they have many varieties of Egg dishes, which is awesome. Can’t wait to try them on our next visit. The service was extremely courteous the waiters seem patient and helpful and the person that seemed like the owner/manager also took our Unilocal discount and honored it. All in all a great experience at Deccan spice, we will definitely be back!

I’ve ordered food multiple times for takeout. I love biryani, and mirchi ki salan here. Spice levels are just right if you are a spice lover. Overall, it’s a very good choice for Hyderabadi style food. Service is prompt and they are very courteous.
