Best sushi in the area, best for take out. If you are looking for a dine in experience, this is not the place for that. It is more like a traditional Japanese restaurant in Japan — a couple tables. However, if you are looking for fresh, delicious sushi, this is the place!

Sorry… this is not good sushi. Concept is wrong and the taste of the sushi for the price is not worth it.

I ordered a ton of sushi for delivery and they forgot to fry all the tempura. It was really gross. The sushi that was cold was fine.

Excellent sushi! While I’m glad to have finally discovered this sushi bar, I’m sad that it took me so long. The fish is super fresh and the flavor combinations for the rolls are spot on. If you love sushi, you NEED to check this place out.

I want to say something bad, but I really can’t. Fresh-made, carry-out sushi for a very reasonable price. While they have tables and chairs, you might enjoy it more at home. They also have a small grocery section where you can grab items you won’t normally find in a conventional grocery store. But, really the sushi is the main draw for me. A few rolls and a package of mochi to go please.

Well this sure was an annoying and awkward experience. When I walked in to Taka Sushi, there was one guy working here. He stood in the middle of the store, and he just stared at me. No «hello,» no «welcome,» NOTHING. I asked if there was a take-out sushi menu, and he pointed to the counter. Then he told me they don’t make sushi until 11:00 a.m. on Saturdays. I was almost okay with this, until he started to try and up-sell me on steaks, lobster, other fresh fish, etc. «Take a look around our store,» he said. Um, no. The hours on Unilocal vs. the website vs. their front door are all different. I know sushi isn’t really a breakfast kind of thing, but I got up early, and… wait, I shouldn’t have to justify why I want sushi. I told the guy I’d come back another time, and at the time I meant it. But now I’m not so sure. I’m just really annoyed that I asked for sushi and he tried to sell me steak and lobster instead. I was in the store for less than 5 minutes, and I could still smell fish after I got in my car. Ugh.

An odd restaurant/business. Once inside, there is a bar with a small seating area; but in the back are refrigerated cases. You can either buy fish direct, or have a seat for a quasi-restaurant experience with table service. An odd hybrid establishment, ultimately it is a delicious experience. A bit pricey, the sushi was fresh, flavorful, and well-executed. Taka Sushi is like Iron Fist: You’re not quite sure how it came to be; but its a good experience once you’ve gotten into it.

I read all the good reviews and I pass this place all the time so I decided to try it out. We called in an order right before Taka was about to close but they agreed to make our order and allow us to pick it up. Pros: –fresh fish –quick –friendly staff Cons: –small size of restaurant(would recommend take out instead of dining in as there are only a few small tables) –sushi rolls are overpriced(some rolls are $ 17.95)

One of my friends at work recommended Taka Sushi for take out sushi, she said that the quality is really good & it seems clean. So, my daughter and I were really craving sushi today & thought we’d give it a try. It was a short 10 minute drive from our house in a strip center off 59. We walked in and it does smell like Lysol which I really wasn’t crazy about but it did look clean. We went up to the counter and were greeted by the folks rolling the sushi. We looked at the picture menu on the wall behind the counter and asked a gentleman if they have something that tells us what is in each roll. He apologized that they didn’t have any menus at the counter and went to the front and found some and brought them to us. He patiently waited for us to look at the menu and make up our minds. We chose the Monster Roll, Godzilla Roll and the 12 piece 911 roll(my husband wanted that roll). While they were preparing our sushi he took me around the store and showed me all the different meats, seafoods, cheesecake and freshly made clam chowder that they sell. It all looked fantastic! About 10 minutes later our sushi was ready to take home. When we arrived home we all dug in and everything was really, really good. It was as good as any I’ve had at sit down sushi places and they were very generous with the toppings and the fillings. The whole family really enjoyed the rolls and we will return.

I love sushi. I had tried both Wild Tuna and Tokyo Bay since I’m in south Naperville and they are closest to me. Both were okay, but I wasn’t blown away. I decided to try Taka since it had such great reviews. I got the combo tray since that seemed like a good way to try a few things without spending a lot. Even though they deliver(which is awesome BTW), I picked it up so I could see the place. It was ready in 10 minutes. The place is part shop and part take out, with a few tables you can sit at. The sushi wasn’t the best I had ever had, but it was better than both Wild Tuna and Tokyo Bay. I especially enjoyed the spicy tuna. This will definitely be my go to place for sushi when I’m looking to do takeout.

Great little unassuming spot for all kinds of deliciousness. Family owned and operated which is a BIG plus. No frills super-fresh sushi at good prices. They only serve what’s fresh and mine certainly was. After making the rounds through the western suburbs trying to find merely edible sushi, I have found a place where I’ll keep coming back. Give it a shot; I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised.

I am a fan of Taka sushi! I have always loved sushi and this is a great place to get some fresh made to order sushi. It is in a strip mall, so don’t be deceived. They make their sushi in a good time and always comes out fresh. They have very reasonable prices so you are not spending too much. I ordered to California roll and it was amazing! The flavors blended together so well and tasted great. I also tried the dragon roll which was awesome! The food was delicious and I was very impressed. I was very happy with my meal and I would definitely come back.

Interesting little place they have there. It’s like half restaurant/half shop. Very friendly staff too! I ordered two rolls. The Monster Roll and Godzilla Roll. Both were excellent and fresh. You can also buy fresh fish and meat there as well as a host of other goodies, but it is small so don’t expect to go in with a large party. Overall, this place is definitely legit and you should try it out if you’re in the mood for sushi and/or rolls.

Locally owned, owners on site. A plus for the area! I am so excited for dinner tonight. After failing to muster up grocery shopping plans beyond breakfast and snack food I pulled a U-ee on 59 to hit up Taka Sushi. Finally made it here when it’s open! I was greeted promptly by David, the owner, who explained to me the hot fish he could whip up on a jiff. After expressing an interest in sushi and relaying it was my first time there he proceeded to give me a full tour of the freezer cases. Sashimi grade fish, lobster, crab, king crab legs so huge they require a two by three foot box(someday…)!! If you are in a hurry there is boxed sushi that would make the stuff at Whole Foods blush. Custom order nigiri, sashimi or a tray of rolls to go. David’s wife and co-owner Noriko is on hand to make it. Beautiful art adorns the wall made by the couple’s oldest son, Taka. A cozy little nook of friendliness that is clean(no fish smell!) and packed with enough goodies(Pocky, mochi, Shrimp Chips) to make this pescatarian very happy. Just waiting for the rice to cook so we can nosh on unagi and sake for dinner. Yummy!

I was completely dumbfounded when I walked into this place for some lunch after reading all of the stellar reviews. At first, I was curious if I had come to the right place. This isn’t a restaurant, but more a store where you can buy fish and seafood. It actually says right on the website that it is a takeout/delivery place but I didn’t see that prior to arriving. When I walked in, there were a few tables and one couple who was dining in, so I figured that I would roll with it and see what happened. I wasn’t really acknowledged until the owner came over to the grill which happened to be by the front door and I asked him if I could just sit anywhere. He explained that I could order at the counter. The counter, a mere 20 steps away from the front door had nobody manning it. But I stood in front of it, looking over the menu. I picked out a couple of rolls and the same owner strolled over to the counter to take my order. I was never asked if I wanted anything to drink. A few minutes later, he brought me my sushi which was average. I got thirsty a couple of pieces in, so I grabbed something to drink from one of the refrigerators and kept eating. When I was done, I paid and quickly left. I guess it is great that they deliver if you are in the area, but there are far better places in the area that have better sushi and better service. I guess the important thing about this place is that you shouldn’t expect to dine-in.

Ok… wow. Finally… amazing sushi in South Naperville… you don’t even know how long and hard I’ve searched! The sushi is SO fresh, love the wide variety, and to be honest, it’s one of the most gorgeous sushi I’ve had as a take-out order. Made to perfection. According to Mr. S, the owner’s wife who is Japanese makes the sushi, and she def knows what she’s doing in there. All I have to say is thank you fellow Unilocalers for allowing me to discover Taka Sushi. If you’re looking for the best sushi in naperville I seriously hope google will bring you to this Unilocal page… and that you hop onto 59 and give this place a try… Or if you’re lazy like me, send the hubs ;)
