After being a regular here for many years, I give up. The food has gone so downhill. We used to love to come in as a family, but the food ALWAYS comes cold or over cooked. All of our favorite waitresses have moved on to better establishments and I think we should too. It’s such a shame that a place that used to be a weekly staple in our lives has become an embarrassment of the past. This place used to be quite a gem, but now it’s not worth the price. The staff has gone downhill as well. Half of the staff have never waitressed before and can’t bring a Diet Coke when you ask for one. Such a shame, so many better places in the area though!

Food is very average. Décor looks like it used to be nice but then took a beating and they haven’t kept it up. It’s a find place to grab a drink on the fly, but don’t expect too much and go somewhere else for dinner. It’s not that the food is bad – it just isn’t good. Service is respectable but not great too.

Great fish taco and chicken taco! We also loved the cheese curds. Monica was our server and did a great job! There were 9 of us and it got a little crazy, but she was really great!

DONOTCOMEHEREFORANIOWAGAME. This is an «Iowa bar» but they had no one working They had one waitress for the entire bar of 80 people. Sweet girl by the way we felt awful for her. Management did nothing about being short staffed. First time I’ve been here and we’ll NEVER be back. Spend your money elsewhere I would’ve rather gone to any other bar than watch a game here. I would give it 0 stars if I could.

Wow, what a difference a few years makes. This used to be a go to place. Last night, a Saturday no less, there were less than a dozen people in the restaurant side of the place. The bar was only half filled and it was the first night of the Cubs/Mets game. That should have been a warning but we didn’t think about it at the time. What a mistake. From items listed on the website that are no longer served to incompetent servers this place needs to either replace their management team or just close and put it out of its misery. We ordered the nachos to start off with. No flavor, cheese that looked and tasted like cheese wiz not the«beer cheese» that the server said it would be. Chips were not fresh and the jalapeños weren’t even spicy, like they sat around for a few days. Next up was fish and chips which, at an English Pub, you would think would be outstanding. Not so much. No seasoning, no flavor. Really disappointing. Also had the buffalo burger with bacon. Again no seasoning, no flavor. Either they ran out of salt in kitchen or the cooks don’t have a clue. It is time for a Robert Irvine type of intervention. Don’t waste your time or money here until they fix the problems.

So for the second time in the same day my girlfriend and I sat down and waited 10 mins before having a waitress come to greet us. I recommend maybe looking older than 20 years old to be treated properly at a restaurant I guess. We watched a family be seated after us and get their drinks before we were talked to. Food is pretty good.

This is a very basic review for a very basic place. We went here on a Friday night, we were driving by and were in a rush and the parking lot wasn’t very full so we decided to give it a try. As other posters here have said the interior of the place makes you expect a great experience, it feels very English pub like with the dark wood etc. But then it gets to be a basic pub experience with the service and food. Our waitress was nice, friendly but not very knowledgeable about the menu. I had one of their NBC beers, ahh not so good. They did have a special on Grey Goose vodka which my lady really appreciated. I had the nachos to eat, they use that cheese sauce like Cheese Whiz, not real cheese. It was ok at best. My lady had a chicken wrap which she said was dry. Overall it’s just ok,

Ordered Flight of Sliders and 1 Taco. Perfect fill for the night. Food was hot, fresh and very tasty! Went on a WED night, sat at bar, good service –not too busy. I’ll be back for more!

This review is solely based on the bar area. It is a pleasant, and calm area to be in. Very mature crowd and not so pricey. There is plenty of beer on tap to choose from and the specialty drinks are typical with a different name. There is always help if you need it and I enjoy the theme of this location. Bricked fire place, leather couches, tall and spacey bar area, and good looking servers/bartenders. :)

I love this place! Black Hawk Fans are here. For bar food is really good, my favorite is the blackened Steak Bites, I can eat two of those in one sitting. The burgers are good too.

Nice service during Blackhawks playoffs. Had a side of place for patrons not interested in the game as no tv as there were alot people on other side not eating but watching the game. Kept both of us happy. I was able to relax and my friend was able to go back and forth get his fix of the game as the Blackhawks had strong lead on game 7 vs the Ducks. I had mac and cheese. Plain version. My friend had cheese curds. Nice warm food for cold night! 4 stars for great service, refills and great food. I ate here before few years ago and had great experience with server and great food. Seems they changed the menu since last time I was here. Next time I am in burger mood I will definely try their different protein burger selections from chicken, beef, bison and what others I forgot. Alot customization is possible even offers gluten free bun or even pretzel bun which I always like with my burger. Thumbs up for that ability to customize unlike some places! 4 star not 5 because it was soo cold inside ha. I know May 30th it was 40 ish degree outside unusual for this time of the year.

Went there today for Mother’s Day brunch. Arrived at about 12:30 and, seeing all the empty tables, I knew this would be a bad experience. And they did not prove me wrong. For 34.95, the selection was sparse. Scrambled eggs were hard. Ham was dried out as it had been sitting in the serving station too long. There were two empty bowls of cocktail sauce near the shrimp and I had to suggest they add product. Croissant rolls were hard. I have to say the prime rib was good! But the service was bad, too. Rarely came to refill coffee. We had piles of dirty plates on our table. And maybe I am being too picky but servers in T-shirts? On Mother’s Day? When they are charging $ 34.95? And then they add 20% gratuity! At a substandard buffet brunch. Drury Lane is $ 40. And a far better value. I will never go back. Neither should you.

This place used to have good food, but it has deteriorated over the years. In addition, it’s not well managed. We came in one night for dinner, drinks, and a Blackhawks game; however, the volume of the game was so loud that it was difficult to enjoy our time. We asked a few times to have the volume turned down just a little, but they refused. :-(

Horrible, bad service and the food also pretty bad. We ordered an appetizer that never showed up. Soup that took forever and then came out cold. The waitress blamed the cooks but I’m guessing she just forgot about it and it sat in the kitchen. Finally Shepards Pie that was 95% potatoes, no carrots, no peas and«Where’s the Beef. On the good side the manager apologized.

I’m done, because this place is 0 – 3 with me. This was my third try at Tommy Nevin’s, after two previous visits that I would have rated 1 or 2 stars, but this was the worst of the three. Today, we were seated in a booth along the back wall. In the 15 minutes or so that went by without anyone coming to at least take a drink order, we saw one table(that was seated after us) order their food, and another table get served. So after we saw the waiter come onto the floor twice without acknowledging us, then disappearing for another 6 – 7 minutes, we moved ourselves to the bar so that we could actually receive some service. We told the lady at the front who seated us, and she apologized. After reading all of the other reviews on here, that seems to be a common theme. At the bar, we ordered a water and a Diet Coke. The Diet Coke that came out of the bar soda gun looked nothing like Diet Coke — it was light brown and flat, almost like iced tea. The bartender tried a sip, made a face, and dumped it. He just laughed and asked, «Do you want something else?» During our meal, we saw a staff member come in with 12-packs of different sodas that I assume they just ran out to buy, because something was wrong. The other times I was here, someone I was with was served a different beer than he ordered, and the second time I went, they were out of two beers on tap I wanted. So unfortunately, drink issues have been a problem every time here. Finally, the Chicken Spinach Melt I ordered was good, at least the half that had chicken on it. I had to take two full bites into both halves of my sandwich before there was any chicken. Four full bites of just bread and cheese. At least the fried cream cheese balls we got for an appetizer were good, because that’s the reason we went. So, yeah, not coming back.

I hate writing a «basic» review but this place is just basic. It has all the potential of greatness but the bitchy yoga pants wearing servers and bartenders make it just not worth the effort. Pricing is a bit elevated but I’m a cheap — fk Basic beer selection Food is never impressive Interior décor is well done

I’ve been in this Tommy Nevins several times and without doubt, the service, food and experience never change. I really like their ‘meat & potatoes’ style menu. They also have a huge starters(app’s) section. From their regular menu I’d recommend the Ballybunion Club or Bourbon BBQ Salmon. Both are hearty plates, decent serving sizes and fresh food. Price-wise I’d say they’re very comparable to most restaurants in their genre. Based on at least ten visits I would also vouch for good service on the restaurant side. Or as my dad would tell you, this is one of the few places where the waitress remembers to put the slice of lime in his Diet Coke. I’m at 3.5 stars here. You can’t go wrong with the food. Cheers.

I would sum up my experience as «Slow Service, Great Food» We came here for an early dinner after the Naperville Winter Ale Fest. I’m assuming they didn’t expect to get a crowd in from there after the fest or something because it seemed like they were short handed or we just had a slow waitress. We ordered the cream cheese balls for an appetizer and they were awesome cream cheese balls filled with bacon. I had the amazing«Royale With Cheese» Pulp-Fiction Style… it was SO good!!! And for a side I got tater tots. My friend ordered the corned beef and that too was super tasty! There was no fat on it at all… I would definitely go back for that alone. The service wouldn’t hinder me from coming back here because the food was so good so maybe we’ll have better luck next time!

I’ve been here numerous times due to Groupon deals, but wouldn’t come here without one. Don’t get me wrong, the food is pretty tasty, drinks are good, and I’ve experienced some ok service as well. However, nothing really stands out here… except for my first experience here. St Patrick’s Day, 2011. We were new to the area, and our friends all wanted to come here. On a whim, I called two weeks before St. Patty’s Day and asked if they’d take reservations. I was told yes, even after questioning several times, and was told to rest assured that our spot would be saved. I made reservations for 15 people… yes one-five…and happily exclaimed my plans to all of my friends. We arrived ten minutes early and were told — nope. No reservations are taken on St. Patrick’s Day. I calmly said, surely there is a mistake, I made reservations weeks ago. «Nope.» I was rudely, no, rude isn’t even a strong enough word — HORRIBLY turned down. And the place was packed(re: why I reserved tables). I was shaking I was so mad. I told them I had 15 people, but they clearly didn’t care, so we took our business elsewhere. This experience, and the multiple rude people(hostess, manager, etc) that I dealt with that night left a taste so bad in my mouth, my husband was shocked when I agreed to go back with a Groupon. Again — everything is good here. Just good. If you have a deal, definitely go. Otherwise, there’s better English food in the area!

Came on a Sunday afternoon during a Bears game with a Groupon in hand. The clientele was def suburban mom and dads probably trying to escape their screaming teenagers. The ‘Irish’ food was extremely average and the drinks were decent. Service was pretty slow for our food order. I would definitely not eat here again but would maybe swing back for a drink since the atmosphere is pretty lively. Meh.
