I had the vegetarian option, a sweet potato and black bean burger. Most of the sandwiches and entrees included meat, but all the meat(and veggies etc) is local western NY which I appreciate. It’s such a cozy colorful space and classic finger lakes scenery. Naples is a great place to visit and Roots is somewhere I’ll definitely return.

Amazing place in the Finger Lakes! Right next door to a winery. We started off with the mushroom poutine, the gravy was made with red wine a tad bit salty however very delicious. I had the West African spiced Pili Pili shredded chicken over rice topped with cilantro and slaw. It was absolutely full of flavor and a great touch of spice. My wife had the Apple cheddar burger, served on their house roll. Limited parking however you can park on the street. Worth the 45 min drive from Rochester!

I had the sweet potato bean veggie burger. It was great and as describe by other reviews — very fresh. I enjoyed the atmosphere of eating on the porch overlooking the vineyard. It was such a treat and with the perfect glass of wine too. I will be back on my next time travel through the area!

Fantastic place! Farm to table — everything is very fresh. Friendly staff. The burgers are GREAT! Great beer list to go along with it. We go every year when visiting the Finger Lakes. Just an FYI the entrance is not handicap accessible so be aware of that if you have someone in your party handicapped. That is the only drawback. We love this place! Yum.

Amazing food. Tried their«Roots Burger» well done. Absolutely amazing. Juicy and just perfectly cooked. Went there with a few vegetarian folks, to their surprise, they had Pav Bhaji on the menu. I am sure folks who love Indian street food would know what Pav Bhaji is. They were thrilled to have it. Portion size just perfect for one person. BTW, everybody loved the kale salad on the side. Totally worth visiting it.

Quaint place! Great servers with welcoming. Personalities! We both had a cup of vegan sweet potato, fennel and sesame soup! Very good!!! A nice size portion as well. I had a salad with goat cheese and chix which wasn’t huge but satisfying ! My husband had the Root burger which was over cooked and a bit dry. Served with a tasty slaw and French fries! Yum Nice little place in Naples by Canandaigua Lake!

If you are ever in the Finger Lakes reason, you must try this place! Cute little place with shabby chic flair and ready to fulfill your need for a warm, fresh and feel good meal from start to finish. The service was outstanding. The SmorgasBoard meat, cheese, fruit and vegetable plate is phenomenal! You must try this if it is on the menu. Since this restaurant is farm to table, menu is bound to change. Our table also had the lemon and asparagus risotto, pulled pork tacos, and potato and Rosemary soup. All tastes very fresh. The carrot cake was as good as they say it is. The prices are very reasonable for us city folks.

We stopped in here while visiting Naples and we wish we had found it earlier in our trip. It was a Sunday so we had«brunch». The breakfast burger was fantastic. The fries are delicious. They were all out of the breakfast pizza, but some people near us had it and it looked excellent. Everything we ordered was terrific and if we lived here we would be regulars. Very nice, comfortable atmosphere. Almost hipster-y style, but not quite.

My wife and I had a wonderful lunch at Roots Café. Well worth the drive down from Rochester! I can’t say enough good things about Roots Café. There were multiple vegan options available to us. My wife and I both had the lentil burgers. They were nicely spiced with curry and ginger. Delicious! For an appetizer, we split an order of black bean salsa & chips. The chips were homemade, and the salsa was excellent. The butternut squash soup was also delicious. The place is very quaint and cozy. Our waiter was polite and helpful. I’m sure we’ll be back, despite the hour-plus drive to Naples. A couple of small quibbles: I wish the menu were available on-line(the restaurant could really use a dedicated website), and I also wish that the vegan items were explicitly noted as such on the menu.

I have to say this restaurant is absolutely incredible!!! My boyfriend brought me here for my birthday. We had done wine tastings earlier that day at Hazlitt’s and Inspire Moore and we ended by having dinner at Roots. When we got there we had a little bit of a wait, which I expected anyway. However, the manager, Caleb, got us drinks and put our name on the list and we sat outside for maybe half the expected wait time before he came to get us and seat us for dinner. I just want to mention before I start that I have the absolute pickiest eater for a boyfriend, and as a rule of thumb, usually if it’s green, he wants nothing to do with it! ;) So we started with a pizza as an appetizer. It was a special that evening and it was a thin crust with a red veggie sauce that was very light. It had arugula, portobello mushrooms and ricotta cheese on top. First of all, I thought it was incredible, but the amazing part… my boyfriend loved it! Arugula and all :) It also had a nice spice to it which we both enjoyed. For our entrees, he ordered the bacon bleu burger, but again because of his pickiness, he doesn’t like bleu cheese so he had them replace it with pepper jack. He also had the dill fries. He made a point to tell me how much he loves ketchup and mustard and he literally puts it on everything, with this meal at roots, HEUSEDNEITHERONE!!! He said he thought the ketchup or mustard would ruin how incredibly delicious his meal was on its own!!! SCORE!!! I ordered the special that night which was orrecchiette pasta with shrimp. SOOOOGOOD!!! And again, with the perfect amount of spice to keep it interesting! We were so full we went home with at least half of everything we ordered and it was just as good the next night :) throughout dinner I enjoyed Inspires LOVE wine which is my personal favorite anyway :) and my boyfriend had Rum and Coke. Again we were both very pleased with the bar and variety or beverages to choose from! I also want to make a point to mention how well our waiter did! His name was Joe and he was so incredibly pleasant that it just has to be said! He seemed to know enough about the food to keep us satisfied and when he was describing menu items it sounded as though he spoke from experience and he just made everything sound so much better! I remember he mentioned how the Wild Boar Stew was incredible and was in fact going to be his dinner that evening as well! It’s nice to see an employee proud of where he works and it definitely showed! Wonderful job! Kudos to all the employees, including kitchen staff, bar staff, waiters, the hostess and the manager who all made out experience WONDERFUL!!! And not that it matters because I would have paid $ 300 for the experience we had that night, but the prices here are incredible and extremely affordable for such an upscale experience, and that’s exactly what it was, an experience, not just a meal! Well done Naples!!! And this is another reason I’m happy to call this home!

My wife & I agree with all the reviews that stated how fresh the food is. The beans in the salad were just delivered and hand picked three hours prior to us arriving for lunch. We also enjoyed the chicken salad sandwich and the Roots burger. All were excellent, uniquely prepared, and extremely tasty. We couldn’t disagree more with Julie M. on her review of the staff. In fact, the waiter that served us remembered when they stopped in and still feels bad that they weren’t able to serve additional customers as the kitchen was really closed. We are also bikers and didn’t find any prejudice in any way as might be expected in some small minded establishments. I would recommend giving them another chance. The food and service are worth it! Excellent food. I took off a star because when we got there, they said they were very overwhelmed and it would be 15 minutes before they could take our order. As we watched them, you could tell they were very overwhelmed… even if there are only maybe 15 tables in the place.

We had Sunday brunch at Roots while we were visiting the area from Saratoga Springs for a wedding. The restaurant is very quaint in an old Victorian house. There is also a winery/tasting room on the property. Very friendly staff but when ordered coffee was told that they were out of coffee… And that they only had decaf… What??? I was not happy:(. When ordered tea instead, they brought a variety of herbal teas. No caffeine:(they said they get their beans from a local source and their delivery would be in the next day. I did end up ordering decaf which did have a nice flavor. Everything else that they served was great quality, organic and healthy which I loved. The food was excellent and the atmosphere was great. The owners obviously are not hard core coffee drinkers or they would have run up to the grocery store to appease the addicted like myself, and others but all and all, I would go back The food was delicious and there is outside seating.

I am an honest person, so I will first declare my possible(not really) conflict of interest. I do know the people that run and create at Roots. They are extremely nice and very talented. I was so happy to finally come in and see the place for myself and enjoy their wonderful and delicious offerings. Anyway…my stepmother chose Roots Café as the venue for hosting my stepsister’s bridal shower. Our party size was 24, although I think the original number was to be 28. They did an absolutely amazing job. First of all, I would like to say that our waiters were just excellent! They were so kind and very attentive. Their service throughout the event was wonderful! All of the tables were first brought out platters of fresh veggies and crackers with the most amazing hummus I have EVER had. We were also brought fresh salads and then a main course which was kind of like a layered frittata/casserole. It was exquisite. Everything was so good. Next, each table was brought a platter of fresh fruit and crystallized ginger with toothpicks and bowl of chocolate fondue. That wasn’t even the end! They still brought platters of amazing baked goods to each table even after that. Most of these baked goods they put into boxes for us to take home because everyone was way too stuffed to touch them. My stepmother was very happy at how amazing they were there and how good the food was. Her friends and guests were extremely impressed and I know many of them will be back if they aren’t regulars already. I highly recommend a stop here while you’re out in Naples tasting the wines and enjoying the scenery. Their food is unique, creative, but most of all extremely good!

NOTBIKERFRIENDLY… I’d like to say I tried the food… because it sounded absolutely delicious. But, we didn’t. Why??? «Kitchen is closed.» That’s all we got as my fiancé and I walked in the door to a ½ full restaurant in our Harley leather jackets after getting off the bike. We are used to getting put in the back corner, on the other side of the porch on nice days, and being sent the newest waitress who seems to have drawn the short straw. But to flat out say the kitchen was closed was a new one, even for us. I was even feeling particularly civilized that day and was going to use the silverware rather than steal it, but they didn’t even give me the chance to redeem the entire biker population. Instead I think I will just write this review and post it on Facebook so all of the other bikers I know can spend their money elsewhere. After all, most of us have day jobs where we dress like normal people and have to go eat somewhere… for me, it won’t be this café.

We were headed to the Finger Lakes to do some wine tasting on Memorial Day weekend, and had stopped at Inspire Moore Winery, which is located right next to the café. The café is new since we’ve been to that part of Naples, so we stopped in to take a look and check out the menu. The waitress was so friendly, showing us the dining area and explaining that the menu is based on fresh, local ingredients and can vary depending on what comes in from the local farms on the day. They source local grass-fed beef for their burgers, and also have a vegetarian and vegan alternative. I had the sweet potato-black bean burger with fries. It was delicious, with a nice amount of spicy flavors, but was a little messy to eat by hand. The fries were really good, and are tossed with dill. Other people in my party had the grass-fed burger, which was substantial and deemed delicious. My mother had the flatbread of the day, which contained goat cheese, spinach and caramelized onion. It was fantastic, and was paired with a curried quinoa salad that was a great alternative to the fries. Good cafes can be hard to find in the Finger Lakes/Naples area, and if you’re headed for some wine tasting or the grape festival, I highly recommend a stop into this great café!
