First off, the food here was excellent. I tried the New England Clam Chowder and 3 Clam Cakes combo. The chowder was thick and tasty, with a great clam flavor. The clam cakes were good, though nothing overly unique, about on par with the other offerings nearby. I deducted two entire stars because the employees were so rude while I was there. The restaurant wasn’t that busy, and the food was ready relatively quickly, but the attitude of a few of the young girls that were working behind the counter and the things they were talking about really left me with a poor impression of the place.

Goodbye to a tradition, the old building on the corner was cozy and what everyone remembers with shade trees and the roomy octagon picnic benches, not to mention the very generous portions. We just made our first visit to the new building this past Saturday 6÷19÷16 and were very disappointed. To start, the waiting lines were chaos, nothing was clearly marked, the staff I found to be rude and impatient. After bought our food the search was on for one of those nice shaded picnic tables we used to remember, but… none to be found, most were in the sun and a few two person tables up on the patio. To top it off the portions were small in comparison to how they used to be, most likely to help pay for the new building? Oh and. the chaos continues in back parking lot where there are no signs that indicate exits. I found this out while being greeted by the very rude neighbor while I was trying to navigate a 2500 Dodge truck though the narrows of this back lot. So,…if you want memories, go to Aunt Carries, and if you want fast paced McDonald’s type service and small portions, go to Iggy’s

They don’t put clams in the clamcakes. At least I didn’t have any. Are they minced??? I remember going to Rocky Point when I was little and picking out the clams and only eating the cakes– NOW I’m older and I love clams and wasn’t happy that I didn’t have ANY in my dozen I bought… I came back to RI after 40 years for a visit– at least NY Hot Weiners didn’t change! I will get me more of the wieners before my flight on Saturday… dissatisfied Customer…

I have to admit right up front I do not eat seafood and my review is based only on the dough boys. I hate dough boys.really. Iggy’s has the only dough boy I will eat. And they are very good. There are often coupons to buy 6 get 6 free. We usually get 1 bag with powdered sugar and 1 bag with regular sugar. The lines at the old building were an absolute horror. Newer building is obviously more efficient due to larger size. So again… buy the dough boys you won’t regret it.

In Rhode Island for the first time and was taken to «world famous» Iggys. Had high expectations and I must say it lived up to all the hype! Ordered the clam cakes and white«Chowdah» and ate until my tummy hurt. Not to mention we also got the fish and chip platter and definitely one of the best I’ve had! Ambience was great felt like I was a RI native. Would recommend to anyone for some true New England seafood.

A family favorite! The only negative is the long lines. If you plan for the wait then it is great. The chowder, doughboys, fish and chips, clamcakes, are all amazing. We go with the kids and get a few bowls of chowder and clamcakes, then doughboys for desert!

My first taste of Iggy’s clam cakes and they are super. The creamy clam chowder is fantastic! Small inside dining area, but a large parking area for those who want to do take out. Well worth the trip from Florida to find this gem!

I have waited and mulled over the writing of this review for several days now trying to frame it in the best possible light. Iggy’s is a generational institution in the Port Judith Narragansett area of RI. It has been an annual tradition for both visitors and locals; countless families make their annual summer pilgrimage to Iggy’s for their fried seafood, clam cakes and doughboys. They recently opened up a new greatly expanded location down the street with limited inside dining and numerous outside picnic tables. Ordering and the wait times have been greatly improved as a result of the new facility. I ordered the Seafood Platter which comes with a choice of Manhattan, New England or RI Clam Chowder, I ordered the RI. The chowder was excellent with an intense clam flavor, plenty of clams, potatoes and the clear broth was delicious. Whether the chowder was made in house or not it was very good. It was extremely busy that Sunday with a substantial line ahead of me but it went very quickly and efficiency. It took no longer than 5 mins. to place my order; the food arrived in 15mins which is excellent given the number of orders in front of mine. It was evident that the reason the food came out quickly is because the vast majority of the items on the plate were previously frozen products rather than fresh breaded; that makes sense if you are in the volume fried seafood business. Iggy’s price point at $ 18.95 is very modest for a seafood platter as you can expect to pay $ 5 to $ 6 or even higher for fresh breaded product. I would like to see them raise the price and up the quality of their frozen items as I found them to be somewhat lackluster in overall flavor not the breading but the product itself. Iggy’s is a time honored tradition and thus I went with a 3 Star review but the food was only a 2.5 in my opinion but with a few minor tweaks in food quality it could be easily higher. There will be many who will disagree with this review as good memories and tradition often outweigh other considerations, I get that. I would add that their is an entirely new generation who are experienced, knowledgeable and skilled having grown up in the Food Network, celebrity chef era. These folks are the new audience restaurateurs will have to capture and satisfy even in the fast food seafood segment of the business if time honored traditions are to continue and be maintained.

I found Iggys last summer through Unilocal and couldn’t be happier. It’s the quintessential New England fish shack. Their Warwick location is open year round but Narragansett is seasonal. I was excited to hear they’d be open on my day off yesterday. It’s a very short 3 minute drive from Scarborough beach. They have recently moved about two doors down to a brand new location built from the ground up. It’s lovely. Not quite the old sort of run down cute fish shack anymore but still has the same feel in its clean modern location. Even with all of the new space and parking you can probably expect to wait in a fairly long but fast moving line. Last year I had the fish and chips. Yesterday I tried the lobster roll. Market priced at $ 15.99, full of big lobster chunks, perfectly not overseasoned on a toasted roll. It came with fries, coleslaw and chowder. Quite a deal. By the way, they have all 3 chowders… New England white, red, or broth. The New England white will have you licking your spoon for the last creamy briney drop. Other things like fish sandwiches are about $ 5.99, baked scrod was on special for $ 11.99. You couldn’t buy fish so impeccably fresh and cook it at home for that low price(with chowder). You can eat inside or outside on picnic tables. Their doughboys are basically fried dough or across the street there is a great ice cream place if you still have any space. Tip…follow the arrow to the Point Judith Lighthouse just 3 minutes from Iggys. Breathtaking views.

Though I grew up in RI, this was my first trip to Iggy’s! Our craving was for chowder & clam cakes after a day at the beach and Iggy’s satisfied that 100%. The clam cakes were nice and crispy on the outside and had plenty of clams on the inside and were not greasy at all. My sis had the NE chowder which was good and I had the RI chowder which I feel really puts a place to the test. It was excellent — full of clams, potatoes and onions with a delicious broth that was not overly salty as many RI chowders can be. It was definitely better than a lot of RI chowders I’ve had at far more upscale places in the area!

After a long morning at the beach, my boyfriend and I were dying for some Iggy’s. We ordered the scallop roll and the lobster roll with coleslaw and a side salad. YUM! Both were pretty standard fare and we were lucky enough to find some seating under the shady trees. I had never had a scallop roll in my life, and this was pretty tasty. It wasn’t one of the better lobster rolls I had in my life, but it was still yummy.

Iggy’s Doughboys and Chowder — Does the job, but I’ll try the competition next time. After a nice summer day, we stopped in for lobster rolls and fried seafood platter. If you’re from NE, you know this look. Lobster Roll was small for the price and uninspired. Seafood platter was decent, fries were NOT piping hot, they skimped on the tarter(and Ken’s? Come ON!) and the lemon, and both were buried underneath the food, which screamed that they were just too busy and dialing it in. That kinda stunk. And who uses styrofoam these days? What, you can’t afford something more environmentally friendly? The owners probably RAKE it in! I found the clam chowder(we got white) to be boring too! No chewies, just potatoes. Totally average experience.

Stopped at Iggy’s Narragansett yesterday for the first time. A little more roomy and clean than the warwick location. Lots of people for mid afternoon but we managed to get a shady picnic table. The price can’t be beat, $ 8 for a dozen clamcakes. The line was quite long but moves along quickly. I wish I got the doughboys too!

This place has long lines, which must mean lots of people believe it’s a 5 star establishment! This place is is great for chowder and their doughboys looked good, but there are a few things for me that brought the rating down. First of all, the lobster roll was really small for the price. Second of all,(and this does not pertain to the food) they serve a lot of their food in styrofoam. While lots of restaurants still do this… It always makes me think a little less of the establishment. There’s also no recycling for the glass bottles that their sodas are served in. Hopefully the new building will be a little more environmentally friendly…

I’m not a doughboy guy but Iggy’s is more than just doughboys and clam fritter/cakes. Over the past two weeks we have eaten the fish and chips, fish sandwich, Iggy Burger. The fish and chips and the fish sandwich are huge — — they give you a nice piece of thick fish. The Iggy Burger was ok — — not Bobby Flay’s — — but I’m not going to Iggy’s for the burger — — for me, it all about the seafood!!! A job well done and since we live about 45 minutes away on the Connecticut shore. Parking is on the street and on the lot in the back and on the side — — somewhat limited, but we’ll live with it. Our daughter loves their doughboys(a smaller version of fried dough). Toppings include granulated sugar, cinnamon, and powdered sugar. Buy them by the dozen or half dozen. Always a line, but worth the wait. Prices are reasonable — — especially compared to some of the sit down places down the road by the ferry dock. Enjoy. TASTETEST: A few days ago, the kids wanted to have lunch at one of the sit down restaurants near the beach. I ordered the fish and chips and was disappointed — — fish was thing and not tasty at all. Afterward, we went to Iggy’s to get some doughboys and I just happened to order a single piece of fried fish and decided to let the kids taste it to see whose was better. You know whose was better — — Iggy’s it is!!!

Sorry, but I have been on a mission this summer to find the best chowder down here in South County. The Ocean Mist had my vote(with their clear) until I had Pancho’s ! Sorry, but Poncho’s chowder is off the charts! I make my own chowder and I am trying to figure out what Poncho’s does to make such an awesome chowder! Unfortunately, Iggy’s chowder did not ever come close! Sorry!

Decent but disappointing. We were there with a large group and had the white chowder, lobster rolls, scallops, calamari, fried clams, fried fish, and dough boys. The most disappointing were the lobster rolls. They were more like lobster salad, didn’t taste particularly fresh, or have big chunks of lobster, not awful but not great and there are better options in the area(Monahans). The rest was typical fried seafood that tasted about the same as I would get in any seafood restaurant though the fish was a bit greasy. The chowder was decent a little thin and under seasoned we had MUCH better at the Clam shack in Charlestown and Monahans up the road. Fried dough covered in sugar can’t really go wrong there especially with kids. We like the root beer too. We will definitely skip the lines and go to another place next time we are in town.

My first time ordering for take out here and I gotta say… I feel like I’m cheating on Aunt Carrie’s but the calling ahead was a REALLY nice option to have and it worked amazingly fast. Chowder is very thick and creamy. Cole slaw… big hit! I tasted garlic and something else a little sweet, not sure what it was but the combination made it really nice. Clam cakes are definitely smaller than Aunt Carrie’s and saltier but I did really enjoy them. Mia at the pick up window was very nice. If you call ahead, you pick up inside(that’s not as obvious as you might think).

We love grabbing lunch or dinner at Iggy’s after a day at the beach! The take out window is perfect when you’re still wet and covered in sand. The seafood, chowder, and clamcakes are about as good as you’ll get anywhere else in the area. They also have non-seafood items for those picky eaters. My boys had bacon cheeseburgers while hubby and I enjoyed chowder, fish and chips, and clam cakes. The chowder isn’t the best I’ve ever had but it’s good. The clam cakes didn’t have a lot of clams but they weren’t greasy and they were great dipped in the chowder. The Fish and Chips were very good, the fish was perfectly fried and the fries were excellent. I usually find the fries served with the fish to be very greasy but this wasn’t the case with Iggy’s. There’s a small area to sit with picnic tables. It gets pretty full but the tables turn over quickly so try to be patient.

At the beach and stopped for some takeout lunch. Two fish sandwiches, two chicken parms, fries and onion rings. All were great. Fish was excellent and plentiful in a sub bun. Covered in fresh lettuce. Pretty busy, but service was fast.

We were first timers at Iggys… A long line went vey quickly, and def worth the wait… My wife had the chowder and clam cake combo, of course with white chowder… She said that it was the best chowder that she ever had… I went with the lobster roll meal with white chowder… The roll was grilled, a nice touch… And of course we got 6 dough balls with powdered sugar… We took our meal down the road to the Juddith Point Lighthouse… A cool spot for a great lunch… Everything was great, I highly recommend!!!

Yummy, my fiancé took me here this summer, because ive never tried a clam cake, or real chowder. SO good. the saltyness was on point, texture everything was made perfectly. Great prices, fast time. Every time we go back home to visit we have to stop here, I only wish they had indoor seating for when its cold out! Thank you!

During our 4 day visit to Naragansett we carved out time for 2 indulges at Iggy’s. Every item we ordered and devoured was a 5 out of 5 rating for flavor, texture, freshness, temperature, quality, and value. Their fish & chips was the best the either me or boyfriend have ever tasted. And then there’s the clam cakes, which at first look don’t seem so impressive, but just wait until you sink your teeth into what looks like a deep fried baseball. Not only is it very moist and delicious, but it’s a clam frenzy up in there! Don’t eat too many clam cakes, or you won’t have room to try all of the yummy Iggy’s treats. A trip to Iggy’s isn’t complete until you’ve slurped your way to the bottom of a cup of their New England clam chowder, also generously chock full of clams. They serve up large portions of serious food, so bring your A game. Last but not least, plan your visit accordingly, due to popularity and high demand, the line can be quite long depending on the time of day and season. They even sell t-shirts that say, «I survived the line at Iggy’s». We got there just before they opened at 11am and there were already 12 groups in line ahead of us.

second yearly visit after sitting at the beach all day. service was fast, efficient, and polite, despite the long line. seen staff cleaning the picnic tables outside, which is much appreciated. there’s indoor seating too(about six tables), and a single bathroom; no a/c inside though(has fans?). a bit stuffy but not bad an alternative away from the sun. onto food: last visit shared a fried clam dinner w/a friend, this time got lobster roll dinner & a double cheese burger w/curly fries. both times got doughboy. clams were chunky, but found the batter a bit heavy(maybe that’s just me coz i usually start peeling at least half of the batter off any fried seafood third way in). lobster roll was tasty with the light dressing and soft but toasty roll; lots of meat and very little filler. double cheese burger w/grilled onion(eaten two hours later) was flavorful without feeling greasy. didn’t try the curly fries; regular fries were good — light crust with soft flavorful inside, not greasy at all. doughboys: the dough itself is fluffier and less sugary than a doughnut, with your choice of «topping» such as sugar, cinnamon(?), or powder sugar — a nice soft sweet ending to the meal. have never tried what’s across the street as friend is a fan here. it’s a decent meal, but i don’t find it standing out from the crowd. would go back though!

Visiting from sunny CA. Today’s weather in Narragansett was absolutely beautiful! What a nice town, I’d love to own a little beach bungalo out here. Oh, I learned a new word: wicked! Wicked, this, wicked that. :) I thought those SNL skits with Jimmy Fallon were hilarious. To hear it in person is even more hilarious! So I’m out here vacationing not too far from Iggy’s and so we visited Iggy’s and ordered quite a lot of food for 3 people. We ordered 2 Lobster Platters, a scallop roll, ½ order of doughboys, and 2 quohags. I was looking forward to this place because on the west coast, it’s hard to find good lobster rolls. To put it mildly, it was a disappointing experience. First the smell of oil was overwhelming when we got our order. And not good smelling oil, but overly used oil. I know this because I’ve worked with many food manufacturers who fry their products. If you can smell the old oil, it’s nearing its rancidity. So strike one right off the bat. Accordingly, all the fried items tasted like old oil. Now I don’t know what goes on in the back there, but I wonder if everything(fish, seafood, doughboys, etc) are all cooked in the same oil, but it sure tasted like it. The most disappointing dishes were the baked quahogs. Size-wise, they were pretty big. Taste wise, I think they doubled the salt. We ended up throwing them both away because they were too salty — I’d say between the three of us, we only ate half of one. No joke. I was having a Nantucket Nectar with my meal and it really didn’t cut the saltiness. That’s how salty it was. The white clam chowder was above average. Counter to what some have said, I got plenty of clams in my white chowder. I would say though that it wasn’t as creamy as I’ve had. For all you east coasters, should you ever go to the West coast, please visit Splash Café in Pismo Beach, CA for the best white clam chowder. Was anything good? The lobster roll was good. It’s the first time that I’ve had a lobster roll in about 8 years, so I savored every bite. The lobster was not overcooked or rubbery, but best yet, the lobster wasn’t drowning in mayo. The bun was toasted nicely too. I was pretty stuffed but I wanted to try the doughboys before they got cold. It did reek of old oil, so it just didn’t sit well with me. I barely had 2 bites.
