My husband and I bought a whole bunch of liquor here for our wedding. Since the return policy is not on the website or back of the receipt, we asked our cashier, who said there’s a 30 day return policy for unopened bottles. Great! A few weeks later, we came back to return $ 160 worth of unopened liquor. We encountered an apathetic cashier and then a surly manager who began by yelling at us because he only takes up to $ 100 in returns. He then told us we should have read the sign, while pointing to a wall with no sign. After this, he went searching for this sign, looking up and down each aisle, and then checking outside for some reason. In the meantime, a female employee came by asking if we needed help. We told he we were dealing with the manager, trying to make a return, and she said, «Is it within 30 days? Then what’s the problem?» The manager came back form his search and told us there used to be a sign and that we should have asked to talk to a manager when we made our purchase. He said to come back when the manager is there… but also, that he is the manager today. After this, he disappeared with our receipt for 15 minutes, then returned a completely different man, trying to make jokes and be friendly. We finally got our money back, but it was such a bizarre experience. TL;DR: Unposted return policy is less than $ 100 worth of booze within 30 days. But most of the employees don’t know that.

Great place to buy alcohol for parties and special occasions. Reason being, they offer the best prices. The best prices for hard liquor, that is. If you’re looking to buy wine, I recommend Drum hill liquors. For example, the biggest bottle of barefoot Moscato is $ 12 here and in Drum hill its only $ 9. Not that big of a difference, but if its in your driving distance or near your home why not save yourself a few bucks? They don’t sell beer here. Great place to save on liquor, no tax!!!

For people who smoke and drink, NH is money-saving heaven. In fact, as I am unapologetic cigarette smoker, I would live there if it wasn’t NH. I guess I’m too much of a Mass snob. Its unbelieveable how much cheaper ‘vice goods’ are compared to Mass. even when the sales tax is taken out of the equation. Its worth the gas money(even when gas was $ 4/gallon) to drive up once a month and stock up. I’m not a heavy drinker but I almost always stop here when I am nearby. The selection here is adequate; I have almost always found what I was looking for(they have Pimm’s and they now also have St Germain!) and the prices are good. Also, the ladies at the register are always friendly(especially the older lady… sorry I forgot her name but I always see her there). Parking lot and main road are quite busy though so beware. Still, it is worth stopping buy to stock up if you are in the area.

A few weeks ago, I received in the mail a $ 10 off coupon from New Hampshire State Liquor Stores. NH is tax-free, so that’s an added bonus. [Edit: New Hampshire is one of the states in which the government controls the distribution of alcoholic beverages as well as being responsible for the regulation of alcoholic beverages. Each store has a different number. Wine is sold in supermarkets in NH, but supermarkets can’t sell hard liquor.] The coupon was $ 10 off a $ 50 purchase of wine or spirits, and the NH liquor store most convenient to me is #50, hidden away on the side of a supermarket and next to a cleaner. This area is always pretty crowded, especially on a weekend, and the liquor place is a little difficult to access; the traffic pattern is kind of silly. #50 is your typical liquor store. Nothing exciting or extraordinary, and not many people to help out. Typical wine selection. Nothing expansive or worth writing home about. The coupon was burning a hole in my pocket, and I wasn’t just going to use it on a $ 15 item. Decided to go with a big boy: Silver Patrón. I got up to the cash register, and lo and behold: The Patrón cost $ 49.99, which would make it ineligible for the $ 10 off coupon. One lousy penny off. I asked the cashier if she could just push it through, but it was an adamant no. Thought I could buy a piece of gum, but gum doesn’t equal wine or spirits. Solution: I bought a $.99 «nip» of Baileys(I already finished it), so I was able to use the coupon. Not sure I’d drive up here solely to buy liquor, but it’s nice to know that things are cheaper and tax-free. I don’t smoke, but cigarettes are less expensive, too. For that, however, you have to go into the supermarket or convenience store.
