Thee best brunch in Nashville! Their ingredients are incredibly fresh and often more organic and locally sourced. The staff could be a bit more friendly. But overall, I highly recommend this place.

My trip to Nashville featured several amazing experiences, but this was far and away the best and most memorable. An absolute dream come true if you’re a whiskey lover! I didn’t dine at the restaurant, so this review is solely about the bar downstairs. But man, what an experience! Just walking onto the premises was wonderful, I think someone said it’s the old governor’s mansion? Or something like that? I could have sat and sipped for years here. Knowledgeable and friendly bartenders, an amazing selection of various spirits, and what beautiful décor! One of the premier drinking experiences I’ve had in life.

We went for lunch and this place has to be the best value in Nashville. Exceptional food at moderate prices(at least for lunch). Truly a must try.

I made a reservation for myself and my boyfriend to enjoy a special meal on our last night in Nashville before heading back to NYC. We walked from the Omni Hotel up the hill to the most charming little old house and smelled the firewood, and we both looked at each other with excitement. We were thrilled to be away from the hustle and bustle of downtown, which we would be hitting up later for a honky tonk tour. We arrived 10 minutes early for our 8PM reservation, and the hostess told us they were running a bit behind. That was ok with us, as we had eaten a large lunch earlier in the day and subsequently got to enjoy the bar on the lower level. We ordered the special cocktail, which took a good 10 minutes to receive, but was refreshing and delightful nonetheless. Finally seated at about 8:15, we decided on the charcuterie with house cured meats and OHMYGOD I am convinced a more delicious sampling of such will never again grace my lips until our return. Not to mention the complimentary rolls with honey butter and the cheddar biscuits were absolutely divine. Boyfriend ordered the pork cuts, which included some pork butt which literally melted in our mouths. I ordered catfish with a pureed butternut squash underneath and a generous mound of bright shredded kale on top. With almost every bite we stared at each other in amazement. I loved that the menu was a surprise, because neither of us can make a damn decision. But honestly, anything we picked would have been brilliant, I am convinced. Portions were just right, and understandably the meals were pricier than most in the area but wholly worth it for the craft you could taste in every bite. The atmosphere was intimate, semi-formal and charming. This place is a must. I cannot compliment the cooks and staff enough for assisting in making this dinner memorable.

My first trip to Husk today lived up to the hype. We had a reservation for Monday afternoon lunch, but it certainly wasn’t needed — there were plenty of open tables. Our waiter was very knowledgable about the menu and answered all our questions about how the food was prepared. I knew we were off to a good start when the bread and butter arrived. The rolls are crusty on top and soft and buttery on the inside. Slap on some honey lard butter and I could have eaten them all day(unfortunately I could not because they only brought one roll per person — anybody else out there successfully ask for more? Asking for a friend…) Anyhow, next was the deviled eggs. The flavor was good but personally I wouldn’t order them again. I’m a food consistency person and deviled eggs just don’t do it for me. Then my entrée arrived in all of its served on a plate that looks like a tree trunk splendor. I went for the lunch plate with catfish and sides of hominy pinto beans and buttered cabbage. All of it was perfectly prepared. The breading on the fish was tasty without being too heavy and the sweet onion tartar sauce on top was refreshingly different and delicious. Both of the vegetable side dishes were on point(defined here as cooked with enough butter that they taste so good you don’t care how much butter was involved). Finished things off with coffee cake topped with apple ice cream and a drizzle of caramel. The cake was warm and perfectly light, the apple ice cream novel enough to be a perfect compliment. The food here is delicious and unique. The menu changes daily so I look forward to going back regularly.

I’ve been here twice, once for lunch and once for dinner both at the bar. Both times, I’ve received absolutely impeccable service and recommendations from the bar staff. The cocktails I’ve had were spot on in both situations. I’m a big fan of this chef who serves up traditional Southern food with a modern twist. As a Southern chef myself, I’m a traditionalist. I make my pimento cheese the old-fashioned way. However, as a modern city girl, I appreciate a modern twist as long as the dish doesn’t lose its soul. This chef delivers Southern food in a unique way WITH so much heart and soul. Chicken wings are a must. If you’re a vegetarian, this chef respects the vegetable, loves and nurtures it and puts it on your plate… unexpected in Nashville. The only reason I wouldn’t give this a 5 is that I had a few misses on dishes. One was described poorly on the menu for what arrived on my plate and the other just simply seemed a strange collusion of spices.

Came for dinner while in Nashville. I hate to say it, but I wasn’t 100% wowed with food or service here. There were some high notes, but in all, i thought it was kind of average. Pros: *Bread and butter — the rolls were amazing. I hate crusty bread, so this did not disappoint. There were large flakes of(maldon?) salt? And the butter! oh man Pork Lard and Honey — have you ever heard of such a thing? Awesomeness!!! *Rappahannock Oysters, Roasted Over the Embers, Bone Marrow, Bay Laurel — I really enjoyed this. I don’t even know what was in that sauce, but it complimented the oyster so well. The platter and presentation was really aesthetically pleasing also. And as the first thing that came out after cocktails, it really set the bar high. *Ribeye: So instead of the beef entrée listed on the menu(it would have been tri tip that night), I opted for the rib eye special because I love my steaks. What was really cool about this is the server came out with a box of a selection of knives. I could pick one out to use for my steak — beware they can only give out one per table. Along with the steak, the also brought out 4 sauces in little saucier cups –(bleu cheese crumble, their version of steak sauce, their version of heinz 57 sauce, and hollandaise). *seeing the kitchen /dry ageing room /selection of wines when you go to the bathroom: having a sneak peek of these things is always a plus to me – it’s not super in your face like open kitchens, which can sometimes be uncomfortable to watch as you are dining. This peek kind of makes me think I’m mischievous and sneaking around a little, but I know I won’t be getting into trouble. Pretty cool. Missed the mark: *Crispy Chicken Skins, White BBQ Sauce, Thyme $ 14 — I was very excited for this, but after eating a few really crispy ones, once you get to the middle of the mound, the skins became a little chewy and oily. I suppose we could have eaten it a little faster. *Bear Creek Farm Pork, Barefoot Farmer’s Sweet Potatoes, Sassafras, Pecan — We got a duet of pork belly and pork shoulder steak. The belly was delicious, but the pork shoulder steak(I think it was shoulder) was way too fatty to be eaten. The sweet potato /sassafras casserole was really interesting — not too sweet, even though the sassafras meringue looks like marshmallows. We also got a couple of the desserts which I don’t really remember at this moment. Oh wait, I remember a popcorn ice cream that topped a chocolate cake of sorts — the ice cream was really unique and pretty good. It was paired with salted caramel too… yum. Overall, it passed, but it was a bit of a trek, out of the way, and kind of pricey to have this on the must-do list.

I don’t even know where to begin this review. My first experience was not long after the opening. We took our 3 year old son on a Tuesday night, and the staff didn’t seem too happy for a child to be in the dining room. When we tried to order something as simple as a grilled cheese for our child, they were reluctant to prepare anything off the menu. The manager finally agreed to speak with the chef, and we were able to order something for our child. Outside of this situation, our meal on this particular night was just fine, but not worthy of all the accolades offered. My next 2 experiences were for lunch, which is how I’d recommend dining at Husk. My only complaint with lunch is another situation where they refused to prepare anything different than listed on the menu. I’ I’ve heard so many good things about their fried chicken, and the long process endured to develop the perfect blend of spices. In my most recent meal, I asked about the fried chicken, and they told me that it is glazed with some type of pepper sauce. I had Hattie B’s the day before, and didn’t really want hot chicken again; I just wanted good, southern fried chicken. Again, they said that they couldn’t serve the chicken without the pepper glaze. Disappointing. Instead, I opted for the burger, which may have been the best burger I’ve ever had. This experience was bittersweet. My best experience at Husk was in a private dining event with only 12 seats hosted by Chef Brock himself. This experience offered 12 courses which were prepared by Chef Brock in an intimate atmosphere. We were able to interact directly with the chef and he was willing to answer any question from the group. The food was great, but the atmosphere and experience was truly unforgettable. If you are lucky enough to participate in an event like this, take it. It is worth the price. Overall, I like Husk, especially for lunch. I don’t consider it to be one of the top 2 or 3 places in Nashville. I feel like all the praise it receives makes it a place that you have to experience at least once. While I respect the integrity of a chef’s vision and the food they prepare, I don’t understand their consistent unwillingness to meet simple requests of their customers.

Fueled by Chef Sean Brock’s fairly recent fame, Husk definitely delivers an excellent product. Set In a beautiful old house with Southern charm, the ambiance in each room is different and yet universally lovely. True to Brock’s passion for whiskey, the restaurant offers many selections with various reasonably priced options to try rare and coveted bottles. Likewise, our bartender was knowledgable about the differences among the three pours we sampled and thoughtful in assisting us and others in making intelligent choices. The food was a delicious version of Southern favorites, remaining true to the heritage of the food. Be sure to check out the pantry where you can see some of the grass roots inspiration behind this traditional fare.

Since I Unilocal my way through new places, Husk was on my list to try during a recent trip to Nashville with my husband. It was a Monday and even though I called earlier in the day, we could not get a reservation. That should give you a pretty good idea of how busy this place gets. We decided to wing-it anyway, and I’m glad we did. When we checked in around 7, it was about an hour wait for our table, so we headed down to the bar where we were lucky to get a single, recently vacated bar chair. Then, we got really lucky because the one 2-top table in the bar section became available — and you bet your a** I practically ran and jumped on it with a feeling of «hahaaaa, suckers!» toward the other bar patrons. Evil, I know, but that’s how aggressive you must be if you want a good spot here! PS: for all the 1-star review whiners on here simply complaining about the wait(which has nothing to do with the food or service), you should know what you’re getting into. Yes, it’s a freakin’ busy restaurant and yes, you will most likely wait a long time. Even on a Monday. With a little luck and quickness on your feet, the bar area may be your best bet to eat dinner. Cocktails: they were off the charts. These guys are truly mixologists and craft amazingly balanced cocktails. It’s so fun to watch them make drinks because you can see the detail and care they put into their craft. Dinner: even though we ate in the bar area, the bar tenders were super well-versed on the complex nuances of the menu. They took their time to explain things and we had excellent service. We started with the fried chicken skins because you really don’t find such a thing in San Diego. :) They were delightful and beautifully presented. For our main dishes, I had a pork dish with the best sweet potato concoction I have ever eaten. My husband had the duck and it was amazing. The only items I did not think were to-die-for were the dessert options. I know their menu is seasonal, so I just think we were there during a «blah» dessert time. Overall the vibe at Husk is really cool and we personally had a wonderful experience. I would definitely recommend it to others who enjoy an entire dining experience.

You’ve heard of Sean Brock. You’ve seen him on The Mind of a Chef. Maybe you’ve cooked from his award-winning cookbook, Heritage. You simply have to spend some time at his table at Husk. Brunch at Husk is excellent. Make certain to get the Bob Woods’s Ham and the pimento cheese. And the cheeseburger. And biscuits. You will definitely want the biscuits. If you are there in the evening, the chicken skins never disappoint. And the charcuterie is always my favorite. Check out the amazing bourbon selection, too.

This past weekend was my first time at Husk. I know. I’m a leper. Judge me away. Anyway. We booked a 12:15pm bunch on Saturday through OpenTable. We arrived around noon & we’re sat then. Husk is located in a beautiful, redone home. The entrance is the side of a home entrance, so it can get a little hairy entering & exiting when the place is busy. People stand in the doorway like it’s going to help them get sat. On our exit, we had to weave through a group of 10 college girls, texting on their phones. After passing a couple, I stopped worrying about bumping into their phones & causing an emoji typo. Back to Husk. We sat in one of the front rooms of the restaurant. The tables are standard, large oil paintings of abstract art on the walls, mason jars with beans & blades of grass inside. It’s a modern take on a country farmhouse maybe? All the servers wear checkered, Sadie Hawkins type shirts with jeans & a large, leatherish aprons. The room we sat in needed some sound deadening material or something, because everything echoed off the wooden floors & solid walls. It took about ten minutes for our server to come by & introduce himself & get our drink order. We both ordered the brunch burger for $ 11. It comes with two beef patties, both covered with cheese and served with potato wedges. Our food coming out was the quickest thing about the service. It wasn’t terrible but it seemed like everything took a little longer than it should have. The burger is a nice sized burger for the amount of beef that is on it. The wedges were a BBQ/smoked/seasoned kind. You got four of the wedges. Based on other reviewers, it seems that they bring out rolls before you order, but we received them after our food arrived. I really enjoyed the burger. It had a fresh flavor to it. The beef & cheese were the main attraction. The bread for the bun was great, along with the two little rolls they bring you out with butter. The potato wedges were okay. The seasoning on them had an off flavor to me. I think it was too smokey for me. I love spice, but the smoke wasn’t my favorite. The wedges are served on a 2 inch by 2 inch piece of what I thought was some kid of grease absorber. It turned out to be a cut up piece of yesterday’s menu. I applaud the green effort, but it’s a little unsettling to think that my potato wedges are sitting on a piece of paper that 30 people touched. I see why so many people love Husk. The atmosphere is amazing & I loved the burger. The service was a little slow & the recycled paper threw me off a little. I’d come back to sample another dish.

Finally had our much anticipated dinner at Husk, and while the total experience was wonderful, I have to stop short of 5 stars because it just wasn’t a home run. Obviously, expectations are high when getting a reservation is a challenge and prices are special occasion-worthy. Even so, I think I went in with an open mind and was delighted by most of what Husk offered. Our group of 4 dined early on Saturday. Cocktails and starters were the highlights of the night. Between us, we sampled 3 different whiskey or bourbon cocktails, a fine bourbon, and a couple of beers. The cocktail menu was sizable and had something for everyone. I could have ordered every starter on the menu, and the two we decided upon satisfied. We had the charcuterie platter(generous to the point that the 4 of us didn’t finish it) and the pimento cheese spread with hominy cakes. A different twist on pimento cheese, because after all, this is «fine» dining, but another generous portion and super tasty. I’ll say that larger portion sizes seemed to be a theme across the board at Husk, which I typically do not expect at this price point. I love restaurants that focus on fresh, local and in season foods, and Husk takes this concept nearly all the way by presenting a daily menu. The downside of this is that you cannot check out the menu ahead of time to make sure you like what’s on offer. For people with really limited diets, this could pose a problem. Normally, I have no issues with daily menus, but I’ll admit that we may have just gotten unlucky on our visit, because out of 7 or so entrees, nothing jumped out at me. I settled on a sous vide pork, and although the pork was high quality and perfectly prepared, it was a huge piece and eventually I got bored of it. Luckily, the sweet potato side will go into my Sweet Potato Hall of Fame(I’m a huge fan of sweet potatoes prepared pretty much any way). One of the weirder, but not necessarily good or bad, aspects of our dinner at Husk was dessert. It was the first time I’ve ever been with a group at a spendier restaurant and not ordered dessert. Not one of us was tempted by any of the 3 or 4 choices! I’m not sure if this was an off night for the dessert list, or if Husk just doesn’t shine here generally. In sum, I would love to eat at Husk again to give it another chance to knock my socks off. We had a lovely time, in a cozy and comfy space with great service, but only parts of the meal felt special.

Excellent menu and service, with incredibly well thought out details abound. FOOD I tried the Oysters on the Half Shell with Charred Cucumber and Smoked Black Peppercorns, the 56 Day Aged Beef Tartare, the Catfish with Dirty Rice, West African Peanut Sauce and Okra, Hot Water Cornbread, and the Campfire Cobbler with Peaches, Bourbon Vanilla, and Hickory Soft Serve. Wow!!! The house bread is fresh and delicious. Especially the accompanying mixed pork/butter fat spread. yum. The oysters were a perfectly balanced mouthful of briny and brightness. The tartare had excellent flavor and texture contrast with shaved hominy that were soaked in vegetable broth, dehydrated, deep fried, and shaved. The tartare had a texture contrast similar to a dish at the Catbird seat. Unclear who had the idea first, but both execute it well so we all win. The catfish was the most supple I’ve tasted. It was cooked perfectly. Each forkful flaked off without disturbing its nearest neighboring flakes. The cornbread tasted good. I’d describe it as a corn porridge pancake. I enjoyed it and its nuance of corn flavor, but it’s not a style I expected or found particularly satisfying as bread. Good thing their other house bread is incredibly satisfying. The cobbler was a nice finish. I loved the ice cream. I found myself wanting something more from the cobbler itself, maybe more richness and porousness to absorb more cream/compote? All in all, I enjoyed an absolutely delicious meal. SERVICE I sat at the bar and service could not have been more attentive, informative, or friendly. DECOR It felt like the interior design was incredibly well thought out to use all the space of the beautiful building. It has a classic décor with a slightly Southern charm. The kitchen looked incredibly efficient. The general aesthetic and clientele felt business dress, but when I arrived in sandals and a tee shirt — they didn’t flinch.

Amazing! Make reservations very early on, it’s popular. If you don’t make reservations they have open seating at the bar and patio at 5pm. At first they will only mention the bar(because they want to sell alcohol), but the patio is open. Someone canceled so we got lucky and got a table. Waiters will answer any questions and they will answer in detail. They know everything about the preparation. Appetizer: Shrimp and Grits($ 15). I had never eaten grits before. It had so much flavor! The shrimp and grits combo was great! Meal: Oak Farm chicken breast with zucchini.($ 28) The chicken was so tender and succulent. The zucchini was prepared in four different ways. Two of them were stuffed with Farro which was amazing. There was a side of goats milk with a hint of lime. Sounds weird but it was amazing. I would recommend the is location to anyone. We had a great time and great service. It’s a little pricey for me but it was worth it. The one complaint I had was my clothes had a smokey smell after we left, not huge deal but just an FYI!

Brunch at Husk is perfect in every way. First, the restaurant is just Southernly-gorgeous. A house-turned-restaurant in an unexpected spot in the city, away from the busyness of Nashville. So, imagine a home with restored wood, beautiful interior, lots of lighting, and windows to look out at their garden if you’re lucky enough to be seated downstairs. Cozy. This place has attention-to-detail down like no other. Then add on the amazing entrees that we had! Boyfriend went with the shrimp & grits which I refused to try since I’m not a shrimp-fanatic… he loved every bite. I went with the egg-topped chicken fried steak and was equally as impressed. The side they serve with it is a sausage and grilled pepper mix — very non-traditional yet to no avail, pulled off perfectly. Not to forget about their complimentary bread rolls that had the best flavor and texture! In fact, there was only one thing I wasn’t the biggest fan of, and that was the apricot(maybe peach?) fritter starter dish that we had. But, that’s just a personal preference. I’m now in Seattle wishing I were back at this restaurant at this very moment!

We went there for brunch. They were able to seat us before our reservation. We started with the deviled eggs which were perfectly seasoned but not too strong. Next we ordered the country ham and biscuit. The ham was perfectly salty and melted in my mouth. Finally I ordered the coddled egg with boutin and pickled tomatoes. This was my favorite thing I ate. The egg cooked in the griddle after it was stirred which allowed me to have one soft boiled and one sunny side up. My husband had the shrimp and grits which must have been delicious because he finished it before I could try a bite.

This review is only based on our experience at the bar. My coworkers and I came here for some after dinner drinks. We didn’t have a reservation(make sure you make one) so we had to wait for a seat at the bar. Tip — no standing around the bar so if there’s no seat for you, then you will have to wait for one to open up. 5 stars because our barista was incredible. By far the best drinks I’ve had in Nashville(I’m from Miami where drinks are watered down and $$$). Their whiskey and bourbon menu is too much for me to handle so I went with his suggestion and ordered my Old Fashioned with Four Roses Kentucky bourbon. My friend’s drinks were fresh, tasty, and appropriately named — Respect Your Elders and Cock ‘n’ Bull. Their bar is in a lower level so it was cooler when we got downstairs. It felt like a private cellar away from all the other guests having dinner in the other rooms. This place is staying on my bookmarks. See you soon, Nashville!

Enjoyed my experience at Husk Nashville. The place is the epitome of southern cuisine from the outside to the food. Immediately when we were seated they sweetly greeted us. The place itself is an old house turned into a restaurant. It’s cozy. Food was great. Ordered a lot of apps(beef tartare, charcuterie, and griddle cakes.) I loved the griddle cakes. Such a southern thing to have. For entrees it was the fish and the pork chop. Everything was good– the fish was not as good as I expected it to be. Although the roasted corn was a nice touch. For dessert we ordered the inside out smore which sounded good but was a disappointment. It was cold and not smore like to me at all.

My high expectations were met with mediocre service and just ok food. We let odd things slide like the waiter not introducing himself or explaining the menu even after we said that it was our first time. We brushed it off and ordered the charcuterie which included tasty morsels of pork, lardo with toast, cheddar biscuits and a sweet mustard. This was a good; that is until the waiter asked to take my appetizer plate away mid bite of my unfinished biscuit. Weird. Next came our main dish of red snapper with black eyed peas. My snapper was nice and firm. My friend’s snapper was a bit under done. The peas were really good but I found the gravy a tad salty. We also tried a corn grit dessert with persimmon butter and winter spices. We both enjoyed it as something different but I wouldn’t say that it would be something I would crave. Overall nice enough food but not up to the hype.
