This week I have visited Dallas, KC and Nashville having BBQ every night. Peg Leg Porker took the cake(or maybe the fried pie). Outstanding dry rub ribs, pulled pork and smoked green beans. However the highlight for me was sitting at the bar(it’s full service there!), enjoying conversation with the owner and then feasting on fried peach pie. Make sure you eat here!

If you’re a dry rub ribs person, this place is where it’s at. I like my ribs sticky and sweet, so I wasn’t necessarily a convert after trying the ribs here, but they were really good for what they were. The real gem not only from the menu here, but food-wise in general, is that BBQ nachos dish. Now THAT was delicious! A real original idea, I’m surprised more joints haven’t thought of it.

It was so good I went home and slapped my mom for insulting the bbq by serving me her ribs. Sauce is legit

Wow, I’d give this place more stars if I could. This place was recommended by a coworker and I’m glad I went. You can’t go wrong with either ribs or chicken, and the sides were a match made in heaven. My sons are picky eaters but ate more of the food than my wife and I did. This place is a must-visit when you’re in Nashville!

Landed in town last night and after unpacking at the hotel it was time for dinner. Thanks to Unilocal I already had several spots in mind for food and this was at the top of the list. As far as food goes, this place totally lived up to the hype. I ordered a half rack of ribs(dry) with mac and cheese and beans as my 2 sides. Everything was freaking delicious and honestly the beans may be the best I’ve ever eaten. As far as first impressions go, this really set the tone for an amazing weekend and I fully enjoyed that piece of Nashville BBQ that I had been craving for so long.

This is one of my fave places in the Gulch because it’s so *not* your typical Gulch joint: it’s completely real, unpretentious, down n’dirty-style BBQ joint fun with a quirky edge to boot. My pick for the best dry-rub in town. All their rib variations are so fantastic and such a great deal — my husband and I often share a platter along with a heavenly dose of BBQ nacho bliss. And do NOT skip out on a fried pie to top it all off: the chocolate version is foodgasmic!!! And if you’re lucky, you just might encounter these guys roasting a whole hog outside on the deck one night over an open fire. It’s truly something to behold, watching a piggie get some fiery open-roasting out there. Take some friends here and enjoy a beer-drinking sorta sloppy night: perfect dining treat to walk here after a round or three at nearby Yazoo Brewing!

Where do I even begin?!? Okay, okay let me figure out the right words to express my feelings about this place, so when you read this review you think to yourself, «d*mn, I gotta go there.» You definitely cannot miss this place. There’s a huge pig sign! C’mon pig&bbq = happiness. The menu is pretty straight forward. Order than sit down setting. Prices are very reasonable for the amount and great quality of the food. It’s worth it. Hubs ordered pulled pork with Mac n cheese and coleslaw. Mac n cheese was cheesy and creamy and ahhhh! orgasm in my mouth! Coleslaw was great not as many words I can describe it as I did the Mac n cheese(lol sorry) All I’m saying is try the Mac n cheese! I order a pulled pork sandwich that included coleslaw with the sandwich, French fries and baked beans. Sandwich was the ! Right amount of coleslaw to pork and bbq ratio! They also have bottles of their bbq sauce on the side, which an excellent add on to my sandwich and my husbands pulled pork. Baked beans were greaaat! You could taste the smokey-ness in every bite, especially aromatically in your nose(could not find the right words) I love this place and I would drive from Fort Campbell to Nashville in a heart beat. I’m excited to return and try their ribs! I hope my words of this place have brought you to the conclusion that this place is worth a try! And thank you Peg Leg Porker for your food and awesome service! This Cali girl is happy.

It is a rare occasion where you can proclaim with absolute certitude that you have had the opportunity to sample something that rises to the level of «the best in the world.» Peg Leg Porker’s dry rub ribs are to smoked meats as Château Mouton-Rothschild 1945 is to wine or Pappy Van Winkle 20-year is to Bourbon. in other words, flawless. Now I won’t dare to weigh into the debate of tomato verse mustard verse the myriad of other regional sauces that go into creating an exceptional rack of ribs. However, if you are a dry rub aficionado(which I am), the Peg Leg Porker is your Mecca. Don’t even think about ordering your ribs wet. That would be a cardinal sin. Mosey on up to the bar and place your order for a half rack, smoked green beans, macaroni and cheese and a Yazoo Pale Ale to wash it all down. And then thank your God you get to experience little moments like this.

Their ribs are outstanding. Been here twice and really dig their sauces, sides and the fried pies. Kudos, ya’ll!

Very casual overrated BBQ. I want to love this, but being that I had franklins in Austin this past year I cannot say this compared in the slightest. The dry rub ribs are good but they are in no way great, the rub itself is good but it lacks something. Maybe a true smokey sweet peppery flavor? It’s not«fall off the bone» tender, it’s just good ribs with a good enough amount of meat and a good enough rub. The beans taste like bushes bakes with a slight smoke, the Mac n cheese is good but I suggest going downtown to the Stillery for your higher quality skillet of heaven. The sauce is awesome but not the best I’ve had. It’s sorta just… No frills BBQ. They don’t have a wide selection either, no brisket, no sausage unless you get a sausage and cheese plate that they title«BBQ sushi» or some dumb thing like that. I don’t feel the love here and I’m realizing all of the more negative aspects of peg legs as I write this review. What I do like is the selection of craft brews(11 local taps) some bottles as well as some bourbons and whiskey. Very laid back but sorta just run of the mill at the same time. Your four and a half star rating on Unilocal– I have to equate that to its location and just hometown feel I guess. My hand cannot bare to give them more than 3 stars and I don’t know that I can even honestly do that. It’s good bordering on comparative garbage… Just no soul in the place at all.

When visiting my son in Kentucky for the holidays, I decided to fly in and out of Nashville. I have a couple friends who live there and was able to meet up with one of them for lunch. She suggested Peg Leg which is located near The Gulch and when I looked at other reviews on Unilocal it sounded like a good choice. I arrived about an hour early so I went to have a cup of coffee but that’s another review. I was able to secure parking right in front of Peg Leg so I was pretty happy about that. It was a good thing I go there early because b y the time I met my friend at 12:15 the place was getting pretty busy and parking was a little further away. We stood in line to order then got our drinks(which came in a plastic souvenir cup) and proceeded to find a table. As crowded as it was we weren’t sure we would find one inside but the flow of the restaurant actually worked out quite well. Just as we sat, our order was ready. I was impressed with how fast we got our food with as busy as they were. My friend recommended the dry rub ribs so I went with a half rack. It comes with two sides so I chose mac n cheese and fries. The ribs fell off the bone and were really good. Unfortunately, I couldn’t finish them. I nibbled at a few of the fries which were also good but I usually prefer skinny fries over steak fries. I was very pleased with the mac n cheese. The noodles were shells and the cheese was creamy and flavorful. I recommend arriving a little earlier than the typical lunch hour. By the time we got to the front of the line(15 minutes or so) the line was stretched out the door. I didn’t mind the wait at all because I got to catch up with my friend while we were waiting and the food came out so quickly, we had plenty of time to eat. I might go back if I was just visiting again but would definitely return if I lived in Nashville.

I have been dreaming about Peg Leg Porker since I saw them on Diva-Q. And they lived up to everything I was wanting. We are from Indianapolis so as soon as we made the trip to Nashville it was our first stop. I got the half a slab of ribs with Mac n cheese and green beans. Amazing! First the bones just pulled out like butter. I have always heard about ribs that fall off the bone but I had never had them. I picked the dry rub cause I prefer no sauce. The green beans are the big flat ones. And they were well seasoned. But the mac n cheese was even better. No box here. Next time we pass thru Nashville I will stop again.

Peg Leg Porker specialise in dry ribs and pulled pork — they do it really well, and represent what’s truly great about unpretentious, standard Southern fare. The food is deliciously dirty and messy, and the venue is decidedly no-frills, but it is absolutely excellent(and really hit the spot after a delayed flight)! The pulled pork sandwich with two types of beans looked absolutely incredible — the meat looked succulent, and juicy, and the smokiness made this dish smell absolutely heavenly. I had half of the rack of ribs with fries and coleslaw. The meat really fell of the bone, and the sauce was delicious, and didn’t overpower the flavour of the meat. The coleslaw was dressed perfectly — not too much mayonnaise, and the vegetables were crisp and fresh. While they haven’t beaten the best ribs in the world quite yet, I would wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone visiting the area.

This was a pretty good BBQ joint. We had the smoked chicken wings, pulled pork, dry rub pork ribs, and a bunch of sides. The smoked chicken wings were very tasty. It had a hint of smoke and great flavor. The pork ribs was inconsistent. We has some pieces that were moist and very flavorful. The meat fell off the bone and the dry rub offered a nice finishing flavor. However, there were some ribs that were dry and hard. The pulled pork was pretty good. It was moist and tender. The side that really stood out was the smoked green beans. The beans was bursting with flavor. The smoke really came though and made the flavor of the beans quite unique.

Saw Andrew Zimmern from Travel Channel visit this place and decided to bookmark it. There is limited parking around this area. We found metered parking in front of the restaurant, which was a quarter for every 10 mins. Came in around 2 pm and there wasn’t much of a line and we were able to find seating easily. Order at the cashier and then hold onto your receipt. Pick up your order once your name is called. Service was quick and friendly. Seat yourself. Drinks, napkins, silverware, etc. are within reach. The ambiance is laid back, which I really liked. We tried the Dry and Wet Ribs, both were delicious. Well seasoned, meat fell off the bone, generous portions. Flavor and consistency were on point. Their bbq sauce and dry rub was so good, we had to buy some to take home with us. Their sides are well made too, loved their BBQ Beans and Mac n Cheese. Everything came out nice and hot. Good stuff, will definitely be back!

Hidden in the back of the gulch is a cute little BBQ joint. They have great prices and the BBQ is delicious! Beers are pretty cheap which is always a plus. If you bring a group there’s a lot of large tables you can sit at! I’d suggest getting one of each side because they are all great. I love how the smoky flavor of the meat carries over to the sides without over powering your meal. It all taste like it took forever to prepare!

On a recent trip to Nashville, I wanted to give a local spot a shot. After mulling over all the different options, I decided to go with a BBQ joint. Peg Leg Porker didn’t disappoint at all. This place is the real deal. I went with the BBQ Nachos for the appetizer. Decent sized appetizer that could have easily substituted as an entrée. A must-app! I tried the pulled pork and a half rack of ribs. Wow! I ordered the wet ribs, but they recommended that I order the dry ribs instead(add the Regular and/or hot sauce later). It was definitely a great choice! The pulled pork was delicious, but I’ve tried better. It’s still a safe option for any pulled pork lover. The ribs were tender and delicious. They weren’t falling off the bone, but still some of the best I’ve tried. For my sides, I went with the smoked green beans and french fries. Wow on all fronts! I normally don’t like green beans unless I make them myself. There’s something about ordering them from a place that irks me, but I have to say… Peg Leg impressed! A worthy side for a worthy rack of ribs. The last thing to mention is the experience. Most BBQ places you go to can seem cramped. This place has a large space inside and outside. I’d like to know the exact capacity. The other thing to mention is how quickly you get your food after ordering. With most BBQ places, you can expect a moderate wait, but with Peg Leg my order came out within 5 – 10 minutes. I couldn’t believe it! As much as I love the BBQ in Louisville, I’d love to have a Peg Leg Porker in Louisville to visit anytime I needed good BBQ! Bonus note: When you order soda… you get a Peg Leg Porker take home plastic cup! Bottom line… – In Nashville? – Love BBQ? – MAKETHIS A STOPONYOURVISIT!

Dry rub is not what it’s cracked up to be. I originally ordered wet ribs but the cashier suggested I change it to dry rub because that’s what they are known for. Since this place had such crazy reviews for the rub I went with it. The ribs were good but not fall off the bone, melt in your mouth delicious. I would say they were average. Dry rub is not for me! Also the smoked beans literally taste like smoke. Not a fan. It was the only thing that was left uneaten at our table. Bright side– their mac and cheese is delicious!

Great BBQ, I wish I could give Peg Leg Porker a 4.5. The first thing you’ll notice is the savory smell of smoked pork when you walk through the door, that’s how you know this place means business. The layout of the area was very cool and open, with the food cashier on one side and the bar on the other. My friend and I elected to eat on the patio though, and were fortunate to have an awesome night with a great view of downtown. The BBQ itself was excellent. I got a pulled pork sandwich with coleslaw and my friend got some ribs. The pork was very tender and sweet, with the right amount of zest from the slaw. I got Mac n’ Cheese and Southern Greens as my sides, and while both were good, they didn’t blow me away, that’s all that really held me back from giving Peg Leg 4 stars. Lastly, I always love a friendly atmosphere, and when the owner of the restaurant comes by your table to wish you well and make sure you’re enjoying the food, you don’t forget it, and I certainly won’t. Can’t wait to go back.

This was the first place we tried while in Nashville on our honeymoon. The sauces were great and the meat tasted awesome but it was only room temp. The beans and Mac and cheese were wonderful but the potato salad lacked flavor. The green beans were also good. We would eat there again! Very good.
