Creative and delicious tacos! They have a great vegan and gluten free menu, too! If you go, the street corn is a MUST!

What can I say, great tacos, great vibe, great drinks, great time. In my opinion this is the #1 taco place in the Nashville area. The offer a good variety of tacos and drinks, and the patio area is great when the weather is nice. You can tell all of the customers there are having a good time, can’t wait to return.

Taco Mamacita is a typical tex-mex type of place. They have the basics of any tex-mex restaurant, your guac, salsa, queso and clearly tacos. All which go down well with the classic margarita that they serve. Nothing about Taco Mamacita is especially special but people love it and there is always a wait. This is a great first date spot or a good spot to go with a group of people. I would suggest eating out on their patio instead of inside the restaurant. The patio is huge and I think they give you a little more room to hang out when you are out there. It is not my favorite tex-mex around but I do pop in every now and again.

We had a long«weekend» last night after the Unilocal party. After deciding to not go to work today our second big decision was to go to taco mamacita and sit on the patio and enjoy their delicious sangria. We both ordered the chicken tortilla soup which is really fresh and delicious. We also ordered Mexican street corn on the cob which is the only way to go. I had the general homeboy spicy which is always delicious. My beau got the steak taco and was not impressed. Overall, however, taco mamacita is always awesome, particularly on sangria sunday when they have half priced sangria carafes.

I was so suprised by the variety of tacos they offered. They were so busy we ended up sitting at the bar to avoid the wait time. Our bartender, Justin, was super helpful and genuinely friendly and hospitable. My boyfriend and I got the chips sampler and the queso was the Bomb! We decided to share 3 different tacos– the Royale, the Gyro, and the Steakhouse. He liked the Royale the best, and it was really good, but to me the Steakhouse was soooo yummy. It had a spicy bourbon bbq sauce that was to die for. The prices weren’t bad, and even though it was crowded the bar staff did a great job greeting new arrivals and checking back with those seated. I work in a restaurant so I’m hard to impress, but I was wow’d. Awesome place to bring a small group of friends :)

Great food and very friendly and accommodating service! We will definitely go back! The sangria was delicious and the grande chopped salad with jalapeño rand was also delish!

TL;DR: very strong margaritas, mediocre vegetarian tacos. Come for 2-for-1 margaritas on Wednesday but that’s about it. I couldn’t give half stars, but it is a 2.5 star kind of spot. Food: The margaritas were very tasty and strong. I had the skinny margarita and tried some of my friend’s pomegranate marg. Hers was a bolder flavor than mine, which is true of most of the flavored margs. In comparison, mine was much lighter. As for the food, my tacos were very, very underwhelming. I got the vegetarian jerk and the black bean tacos and a side of Mexican street corn for $ 8.99. I’m used to NYC prices, so this seemed like an awesome deal to me, but when the food came out I realized it wasn’t much of a deal at all. The tacos are pretty small and mostly filled with lettuce; I could hardly taste the plantains or the black bean patties. Furthermore, both were honestly pretty bland, and the fillings did nothing to bring out either the black bean or the plantain flavors. It seems like chefs just replaced meat with vegetarian friendly food and called it a day, rather than trying to complement the flavor of each respective veg option with the taco fillings. My friends seemed to enjoy their meat tacos, so maybe Taco Mamasita just isn’t a good vegetarian spot(which is a surprise, given how vegetarian friendly most Mexican places usually are). The Mexican street corn, though, was a huge redeeming factor. I asked for it off the cob and it was juicy, cheesy and altogether delicious. I honestly should have just ordered a mega portion of corn and called it a day. Service: really attentive, friendly, and we only had to wait 30 minutes for a table of 13 to be seated. Since it was a warm night, we waited outside on the patio. Ask for a table outside if you can — it’s a nice spot to be when the weather’s nice.

Have you ever been to Bakersfield? They’re very similar, even down to the price. Though their tacos are quite pricey, you can get two tacos and a side for only 8.99. I also ordered a margarita that cost $ 8, but trust me, they do not skimp on the tequila. I had a major headache afterwards. I went with a huge group(13 of us) and we only had to wait 30 minutes for a table on a Tuesday night. We just ended up ordering drinks and waiting around for our tables. I had the veggie jerk and the chicken jerk taco. The veggie jerk taco was surprisingly good because they used plantains and I absolutely loved it! The chicken in the chicken jerk was a little dry, so maybe next time I’d try another option besides the chicken. Besides the prices, it was really good!

3.8 stars First of all, no complimentary chips and salsa? How sad. We ventured here for the first time for lunch prior to a study session at edgehill café. Great patio area and fun decorations inside. I opted to get the 2 tacos and a side for $ 9 and selected the Korean bbq and baja fish. Korean taco was great. Very flavorful and juicy. The fish taco was unfortunately bland in comparison so I added some hot sauce to add some seasoning. My side of Mexican street corn(off the cob) was good but not great. The spicy cheese sauce was a bit too fatty for me. My bf opted for the carnitas and gyro tacos and both were tasty but not great. The friendly service made our visit pleasant and, while I had a mostly positive experience here, it’s not somewhere that I’ll be craving to come back to.

7 drunk visitors from Atlanta all LOVED this place. Granted could have been the alcohol but we couldn’t get enough of the salsa and cheese dip. Seriously, the best salsa I’ve ever had. I left SO full my stretchy pants were tight! The service was great especially dealing with us, food was great and atmosphere. It’s off the beaten path of «country Nashville» but so worth the cab/über drive! We came here based off of a Unilocal reviews. Keep it up Unilocalers! We are doing our job!

I went here after hearing all the buzz years ago. This review is a bit dated, but I wanted to relay my experience. The interior design is an odd mixture of Chili’s and Chuy’s. I didn’t manage to get an interior shot. Food: I got the Baja Fish tacos. The waiter asked if I wanted guacamole and I didn’t even really think about it but I said yes. It was way too much for just one person. I dine solo about 90% of the places I go. I should have just asked for avocado on the side. The tacos were meh. I really do not like the flour tortillas and I am a bit of a taco snob. I didn’t read the fine print because I would have totally ordered them on corn tortillas. I had a side of charros beans which — to the Texans out there, are similar to «ranch beans». They had a good flavor to them. I am sure they do really good«artisan» tacos, the menu looks pretty diverse. I will say go ahead and try this place if you are a taco nut like me. On the face of it all it is totally Gringo’d up and I am sure with added hot sauce its decent. I somehow do not feel compelled to try the rest of the menu though. Again, I know I am probably being unfair. They have items on the menu other than tacos. But since taco is in the name, I figured I had better try that. I forgot to add, They have a pretty good deal at $ 8.99 for two tacos and a side. Looking back I feel as though I got kinda mislead with regard to the guacamole. Yes I get it, it was freshly made, but at $ 7.99 I would have totally skipped it. I realize it is my fault because its on the menu clear as day but the water just asked so nonchalantly — and I was really only concentrating on the taco selection to be bothered looking at the appetizers. With more than just one person there is great value in this, but since it was just me, it was a bit of a waste.

YUM! Food: Delicious! loved the chips and salsa… why. because it was basic, simple and super fresh. Tacos are insanely good here! got the Supreme and the Whitely. both were amazing. Was there for lunch and you can get 2 tacos and a side for $ 8…what a deal. Ingredients were fresh and very flavorful! house hot sauce set them off perfectly! Drinks: only had 1 margarita. was pretty good, a little sweeter than i like but they are using house made mixers, no store bought crap. Awesome margarita variations and other cool looking cocktails. Service: great service, fast and friendly Restaurant: great feel, love the décor, awesome patio. Parking is limited, there is a pay lot across the street and street parking in the neighborhood. Also they have a valet ;-) Will definitely come back here when come into town! can’t wait to try more of the menu!

My bachelorette party weekend in Nashville somehow translated into pools, partying, dancing, and Taco Tourism. We can’t seem to go anywhere without trying to find good tacos no matter what the occasion. We went here for lunch on a Saturday afternoon, nice and busy — the décor is REALLY awesome. I find out later that this has multiple locations and I became OK with that — because it was very good. First, get the Korean BBQ taco. Do it. Second, get the Double Decker taco, the Royale, my friend got it and I regret, to this day, for not getting it also! I also got the Jerk Chicken taco — nothing at all displeased me. I was full long before I was finished eating but I worried. «Oh my, this might not reheat well… I should eat it now!» Hence, subsequent food lethargy coma. Good guac, too. Service was great! The waitress was actually also from our neighborhood in St. Louis! Bizarre. Sadly, none of the locations are any nearer to STL than Nashville… Will return the next time we are visiting Nashville.

I used to love Taco Mamas. I lived the street behind and would come here 3 – 4 times a week with my roommates. Every single time, they asked if we had ever been there before. That drove me nuts– these people clearly recognized us(WEWERETHEREALLTHETIME!) but were trained to ask. The quality over the last few years has dropped. The good: the queso, the nachos, the street corn, tortilla soup(after picking out the sketchy chicken parts), the patio The bad: the chicken in anything(they mix in the dark meat, which I am not into), the tacos The tortillas in the tacos are just not fresh, which ruins the entire taco. They also tend to be over-sauced. The food is just not as good as it used to be, and the service continues to be lackluster.

I know that this place is popular with a lot of people for its overly designed margaritas, but my recommendations stop beyond the alcohol. I thought Chuy’s was touristy, but Taco Mamacita just piles on the kitsch! There are Jamaican, Californian, Nashville Southern, Korean, and New Orleans styles blended with Mexican cuisine. I know that Taco Mamacita has a heavy fusion credo it tries to maintain, but the central premise of actual food suffers in the process. That said, I will say that if you’re entertaining a crowd from out of town, I’m sure someone will find a dish they can relate to on the menu. It does have a trendy atmosphere, and the outdoor patio(if you can find a seat) is nice for enjoying the spring/fall weather. Parking is a bit of a pain since there is a pay lot across the street that can get quite muddy when it rains. My suggestion is to park in the neighborhood(apologies to those who live nearby and are inundated with on-street traffic) and walk the short distance. If you want authenticity and don’t mind switching genres, I recommend going next door to Bella Napoli Pizzeria. That place is a better date locale, anyway.

This is one star too many. This is strictly based on service, or the absolute lack there of. I was running late with lunch today, and feeling like having some Mexican food, so I looked upon Unilocal for some suggestions around 2:30. And this place seemed to have good reviews, and the location wasn’t too far off from work, alas I decided to order out from here. I went through their website to pick out what I wanted to order, wrote it down, and then decided to call them. First try: It rang 4 times, someone picked up the phone. And then slammed it down. No hello or anything. OK, I reasoned, maybe it was an issue with transfer. Some places have complicated buttons for transferring calls to the take out area, and this was a mistake. So I decided to call a second time, after 5 mins. Second try: This time, the phone got picked up in 3 rings(so there’s some positive in this), and the conversation was more intimate, because atleast the girl on the other end took the time to say«Are you kidding me?» before slamming down the phone a second time. What kind of terrible service is this? If you can’t handle take outs, then don’t have take outs or a contact number on your website for it. If it’s too busy, atleast have the courtesy to say«We’re busy, can’t take orders right now, sorry». This was absolutely horrendous service by whoever was handling the phones today. I even triple checked the number, to make sure I was calling the right place and not someone’s home by mistake. It’s one thing to have bad service, it’s another level to have absolutely rude behavior be the gateway to your business. I certainly won’t be going here at all. Maybe the people at the door and the servers are better there in person, but I’m not going to bother to find out. And if anyone needs proof, I can post screen shots of the calls I made today.

We were craving tacos and after doing some browsing I came across Taco Mamacita as a decent option. The restaurant has a cool vibe, with some really neat décor. The lamps on the ceiling are hanging off of doors, which is pretty unique. There is indoor seating, and there is also lots of room on the patio if you’re all about that outdoor dining. The service here is good, servers are friendly and you don’t have to wait too long to get a water refilled, or for the food to come out. I ended up going with their special of two tacos and a side for $ 8.99. My picks were the General Homeboy taco and the Shrimp Po’Boy BLT with a side of Jalapeño coleslaw. The tacos were pretty tasty, very flavorful but the first one had a tad too much sauce for my liking. The downside of the meal were the sides. Coleslaw just wasn’t very good, I barely had any of it, and the Charros beans were bland and flavorless. I’d be curious to try their other sides to see if they are any better. We also got their chips con queso to start and unfortunately the chips were stale, which is not something that you would expect from a restaurant like that.

Nom Nom Nom! I love this place. Great margarita selection. I recommend the one with jalapeños or the option with moonshine. Great chips and sides with them. I recommend the sampler plater. You get chips with Guac, salsa and queso. You can get two tacos plus a side for a good deal. I loved the oh vey taco and the steak taco. I highly recommend the Mexican street corn as a side. You can get it traditional on the cob or they will cut off and put it in a bowl for you . I dig the atmosphere and décor. Very pleasing to the eyes. Everything was super clean and the staff was amazing. They have a outdoor patio. They also have a vegan and gluten menu :)

We love Taco Mamacita, first and foremost for their awesome patio. A beautiful view of the neighborhood with a great Mojito, what could be better? The queso is great and not too heavy, the tacos are creative and flavorful, and the gluten free menu is informative and thorough. There are so many options with a restrictive gluten free diet and they are absolutely willing to work with you. I’d stick to the tacos though, the enchiladas and nachos just aren’t quite as good :) The taco soup also looks delicious, I’ll try it next time. The only thing left to be desired is a friendly host staff. Every time we’ve visited we’ve been disappointed at the front door. I know you’re often busy, but we’d love to feel welcomed. Good thing the waitstaff has always made up for it.

I love Taco Mamacita. It is by far the best place in town to go for some amazing, authentic tacos. By authentic, I mean that the restaurant has many kinds of tacos that are SO unique and special to them only. I have yet to have one we did not like. I specially love the Korean BBQ and Shrimp Po’Boy. We also tried their enchilladas last time and they were amazing. The sweet potato fries and jalapeño cole slaw are to die for. Oh, and each entrée(I’m thinking of the 2 tacos and one side deal as an entrée) is more than enough for one person. I usually end up having half of it and taking the rest to go for a delicious breakfast or lunch. The waiting staff is also super welcoming. They always tell you the daily specials and make sure to check-in often enough without being imposing. In conclusion, Taco Mamacita is a great place to go for lunch or dinner. Not to pricey and ample deliciousness to bring you back again!
