I was prompted to visit Venus and Mars today due to the 70% off EVERYTHING in the store sale. When the announcement hit that this beautifully curated vintage shop would be closing their doors on November 29th, I winced. Although, I can respect and understand why… both co-owners have much going with a bout of breast cancer, other career moves, and a blossoming music career. Karen Elson was already an in-demand supermodel so I am sure that there was much to juggle with schedules and priorities. The good news is that they plan to launch a store on-line and sublet the space. I have heard news that it may be another fashion retailer… cross your fingas! I have made a couple of purchases prior to today that have included vintage shoes, jewelry, and a beaded cardigan that makes my world go round. Everything was priced fairly and in good condition too. I snapped up a fabulous felt hat that reminds me of something that Penny Lane would wear in Almost Famous, colorful Missoni-ish patterned heels, beaded ivory clutch, basic black clutch, and two blissful soy candles for $ 68. The 70% was a fantastic deal. Obviously. You can pop in by November 29th to pick up on Men’s apparel, Women’s apparel, accessories, and even store fixtures at incredible prices.

This place is so good I suggest not going there with a toddler in tow. Sigh. Sadly, that is what I did the day I went there and was not able to sift through everything that was on the racks. Rarely do I come across a thrift/vintage store where a good amount of things really catch my eye, but that day I did and was not able to truly inspect. Oh well, guess I’ll have to visit again.
