That really sums it up. Ever since my barber retired about 10 years ago, I’ve been on the hunt for a new go to guy, but struggled terribly to find one. Yesterday, I popped in there for the first time and everything about the experience was awesome. The haircut was spot on. John asked me questions all along the way… never assuming what I wanted. I went to one guy in Burlington last year who decided to reshape my beard without asking. Who the heck does that? Yeah, it’s been a long, bumpy road to find John and I’m psyched I did! He’s a true pro and artist. He takes a tremendous amount of pride in his craft. Prices are good too.
No doubt I’ll be back time and time again. Only thing I am bummed about is that it took me so long to find him!

He keeps updated on the latest styles and techniques, and he will never rush you. His prices are more than fair, especially for a styling. One of the nicest features is that you can make an appointment by phone, and when you get there, there is NO WAITING. I live fairly close by, but I would gladly drive 20 miles to have John cut my hair. His other barbers are equally qualified and professional. Don and Alex (a woman) are also terrific. If you just want a cheap, quick, slam-​bam haircut on the fly, this is not the place for you. But if you want a highly crafted haircut by true, mature pro’s, this is the place. You’ll never want to go anywhere else after you’ve tried it.

Okay place to go to when your regular barber is not available — I wish there were a few men to cut men’s hair though.

For $ 18 I couldn’t ask for more. This place is a real barber shop where they know how to cut hair. Worth spending the extra cash to go here as opposed to a place like Super Cuts.

Definitely old-​school in a good way. Best shave of my life. Tip: you must book an appointment ahead of time if you want a shave done as it’s a rather involved process.

I recently moved away from the Boston area but prior to that I had been going to Fanara’s and getting my haircut by John every month for two years. He is the best in the area, hands down. Before I found him I tried the Hair Cuttery and got the worst haircut, then I went to a few places in Brookline and would get ok haircuts but never consistently good ones. John always gave me a great haircut, always very pleasant to talk to but also respected if you weren’t really in the mood to talk. Can’t ask for anything more in a barber. They take walk ins but also do appointments. I would always make an appt just so I wouldn’t have to wait around if they were busy.

I have been getting my hair cut for 20 years at Fanara’s. They do an outstanding jobs at a reasonable price. I have tried a few other places over the years but always end back here. I have Don cut my hair and he always does a great job. John and Alex also are great and you should feel comfortable using any of them

Watch out!
I came in there where a suit and they gave me the treatment. First, they wanted to wash my hair, I am a guy… don’t need that. Then they charged me $ 17 for half a hair cut. The guy said my head would look much better if I came in every two weeks and then only cut the sides. They really thought I was a tool. They would like to get me for $ 60/​mo.
Place looks nice and i am sure they give good haircuts, but if they think you have money, they play you like a fool. Never again my friend!

great no-​frills barber shop with a high quality product. They take their time and do the job right. The price just jumped to $ 17, but it is still worth it. Much better than the cheap chain shops.
