Coconut Grove could be a great bar. They try to go after a Key West feel. Key West is one of the coolest places on earth, I’ve been there and I love Key West. However if you talk to anybody who’s ever actually lived in Key West as a local they will admit that it’s all about the tourist, the locals actually work very very hard to make the tourist feel special. Instead of partying themselves they make sure their guests have a good time. And that’s where Coconut Grove falls far short of the mark. The staff are only interested in themselves partying and the customers are a far second. As far as food I was told they had really good wings, they do not. After eat in a couple I realized that some of them were undercooked and actually threw up in the parking lot. With bad food from a cook who really doesn’t care. And a bartender who acted like she was already three sheets to the wind at 1 o’clock in the afternoon on a Saturday. I would definitely recommend staying away from this place unless the owner /manager cleans out the staff.

Stopped by there yesterday since the only place we have near us to go to is Taste Of Keywest which is horrible! Anyway, this place was decent last summer, I don’t know what happened! Service and food both bad… When we finally ordered it took over an hour for the food and it was cold. Server also forgot something which I ended up sending back anyway! My husband said his sandwich was hot and good which I find it hard to believe since everything else was ice cold… Must of been the last thing put up… We will try it again but not sure if I will order food again. Hopefully this was just a fluke!

This isn’t the place to go to for a good meal. I had oysters here… didn’t taste fresh. Waitresses were nice but very inexperienced and slow. This place is only good for a shot and a beer! That’s about it!

New and fresh! Was here a few times when it was cattails. They did a nice job cleaning it up and it looks great. Its not summer yet but I hope they pimp out the deck cause that is where the action is. Pull up in your boat and grab a beer. Bartender is super friendly and very attentive. Good bar food menu. What you would expect from a place on the water in SJ.

My first time here last night for an open mic night. From what I hear this is now under new ownership. I’d never been here under the previous owners but the place has a fresh, new look to it. They also have deck seating but I can’t speak to that as it was night when I was there and didn’t check out the deck. From what I saw inside it looks nice and worth checking out again in the daytime.

This place is now called Coconut Grove Clam Bar. We stopped after golf at Riverwinds(about 1 mile). Food was really good and reasonably priced. Try the Louisiana alligator. Outside deck on Woodbury Creek. Not sure about live music as we were there in the afternoon. Good stop.
