Best sushi in the valley. Plus all the staff here is always so nice that they make you very comfortable while you here. And the sushis really well made and fresh.

Tried this place for the first time. After reading the reviews, I knew instantly it was a must try. This place really delivered! Pros: easy to find. Right on the main road. Nice big parking lot in the back. The inside is quaint and comfortable. Perfect lighting for a date night. Light music in the background. Food and service are outstanding! Prices are very reasonable. Quality of food is superb. Everything tasted fresh and flavorful. We had a scorpion bowl which was the best I’ve ever had. Cons: The inside needs a little work and the floors need to be done over. This place would be 5 stars but I gave 4 because of the minor improvements that could be made.

I frequent this restaurant more than I’d like to admit. But for good reason. The sushi is amazing. Fresh fish, not too much rice, and beautiful presentation. The specials are fun and interesting too. Both take out and dine in have been positively consistent. You wouldn’t think by the location, but this place has really great food. Good quality and quantity. Move this place’s location to a more popular city and you could easily jack the price $ 20 per plate and no one would blink an eye. I had to knock a star off for ambiance. It’s not the best atmosphere but I have never minded. It’s clean and comfortable. The owner is passionate about this place and you can tell. He also understands what his customers want.

I like Tomo — I think the sushi is average(to me it’s either good or bad) but I LOVE the atmosphere. It seems very authentic to me, so I love taking people(younger cousins, foreign visitors, etc.) here for their FIRST sushi experience.

If you like to eat warm raw fish in a humid, sticky room with the overwhelming smell of, no exaggeration, cat piss, then yes I would recommend this restaurant. My friend and I were the only people in the restaurant and the waitress still took forever to take our order and give us our check. The air conditioner was so loud I couldnt think, don’t know why it was so loud for not working though because it was hot as hell. Not to mention the parking in the back is pretty much 2 peoples backyard.

Consistiently good sushi for reasonable prices. The location is kind of weird, but don’t let that stop you. That being siad, we pretty much stick to take out here, so I can’t really comment on the ambiance.

Good sushi. Always fresh, and very good. At first glance, you wouldn’t trust sushi from a little joint like this, but give it a chance. It is really very good. The atmosphere is terrible and the service in the restaurant is poor. Take out is the way to go here.

Listen… The staff is very friendly. I eat sushi all the time and this just isn’t that good. I 100% got food poisoning from this place. Severely. I didn’t eat all day then came here for dinner and was sick hours later. To the point where I don’t want to get into details. You’ve been warned. Their sanitation is poor as well. Good luck

Great sushi! Everything was so fresh. I loved the Victoria’s Secret roll and also the Godzilla roll! I haven’t had a bad roll yet. Service could be on the slower side because there’s usually just 1 server but I have a drink and just relax. No rush :)

The best place around Naugatuck for sushi. Food is always made fresh and very delicious. Small but cozy atmosphere. Lighting is usually dim, there’s a small fireplace and pillows in the booths. There is also a small outdoor patio. Highly recommended!

I’m not sure why this place doesn’t have 5 stars! The kani salad & seaweed salad… my mouth is watering just thinking about it. The staff here is very friendly & attentive. It’s a chill place and comfortable. My boyfriend and I always sit at the bar for the best service but the sit down area is nice and cozy too. One time we got take out & they gave us the wrong order and when we called & told them, they let us keep all the sushi we had already(obviously they couldn’t serve it again, but still, it was nice!) & to come back & get our original order — very apologetic and sweet, it was nice to see that. We’ve come back here several times since. The prices are decent and the sushi is seriously awesome & always nicely prepared. My boyfriend gets the sushumi(not sure on spelling) & loves it! I can’t do that raw of fish but he says its super fresh! Overall awesome sushi place!

Had dinner here last night and Must say this was the best sushi I’ve ever had. The place does not look like a typical Japanese restaurant but the interior is cozy and neat. The owner is very friendly he served us well, plus the food is super delicious. Highly recommend to people who try to find a decent sushi place.

The sushi is good but the interior if the restaurant is just… odd. Not a comfortable place to sit and eat. I just get take out.

Good food but I was disappointed by the cleanliness of the restaurant. My table was sticky as well as the floor all over the restaurant. If the place was cleaned and redecorated I would go back versus getting take out only in the past.

I love to think of Tomo as my personal sushi place since it’s a bit of a hidden gem, but one look at the wall of the«regulars» proves I am not the only one who frequents here. I’ve been coming since the previous owner David was here, and always recommend this place for fresh sushi. There have been a number of changes for the better since it was sold to David’s friend, Jin, a few years ago. Yes, the place still looks super sketchy from the outside(and maybe even in the inside), but the menu has been revamped, with plenty of non-sushi Thai food options, and they got their liquor license(whooo!). To get it out of the way, let’s talk about the décor: Yes, I know people who are scared to go inside, but I promise it is clean and dare I say cozy within. There’s dim lighting, a fireplace upstairs, and fancy pillows now reside at the booths. Jin added a small outdoor patio in the front that is a nice option in the summer. But yeah, you’re still in a basement. Service: The owner is friendly, knowledgeable, and willing to make changes to items in order to accommodate your taste. He remembers where we work, etc and always makes a point to ask about how things are going(and I hear him do the same for other regulars). A few members of the staff don’t speak perfect English and don’t say much else other than taking orders/checking on how you’re doing, but everyone smiles and is friendly. Unless it’s extremely busy, service is very quick. Food: I will admit over the last 7 – 8 years, I’ve had a couple less than stellar experiences with the food — sushi/apps were a little lacking or they ran out of a necessary ingredient, but 99% of the time, the food is so tasty. Some of my favorites: ~ philadelphia roll(Philadelphia roll you ask? how boring! WRONG. Best. philadelphia roll. ever.) ~ kani salad ~ yellowtail spicy crunchy roll ~ wakame salad ~ victoria secret roll ~ wasabi 2 roll what am I saying? Everything is my favorite. Mixed drinks from their menu are not worth it, but the Japanese/thai beers are! Sushi is cheap unless you try something off of the specials list. Then it’s $ 12-$ 20/roll. For two people, I usually spend $ 40 for sharing an app/salad, 4 rolls &2 beers. Really, give this place a try.
