Doris is simply amazing! She can take ANYTHING you need altered and make it fit perfectly! She is lovely! I have known her for years and would never go anywhere else. I have moved to California and when I am back in MA, I will bring my clothes to her — that is how terrific Doris is! I cannot say enough great things about her!

I am sitting in the shop now just waiting for one thing on a bridesmaid dress to be fixed. She is amazing. I have taken clothes everywhere and to everyone. No one is this good. I brought 4 skirts and 3 dresses this time, and one was a silk chiffon– so kind of complicated. It took her two weeks exactly. She is absolutely slammed with the summer wedding and prom season and with good reason. She is amazing. I was sick for some time and have been taking things in over and over again, and nothing ever fits right. Doris fixed everything. I am thrilled.

Doris did an amazing job tailoring my wedding dress! I got married July 2013 and was so happy with the outcome. She made sure that my dress fit well and that I was happy. My sister was married last fall and she tailored both her wedding dress and my bridesmaid dress. I was 7 months pregnant and her work was exceptional! Everyone said I looked really good. She did a great job on my sister’s dress too!

Doris is a miracle worker! Doris completely changed the entire look and feel of my wedding dress, creating exactly my vision! Her skills are superb, and she is not only a seamstress, but a fashion consultant who helped me choose the right earring to compliment my dress. She spent hours meticulously replacing the lace on the dress after it was moved and altered.
If you are looking for someone to give your special garment the care it deserves, take it to Doris! You won’t be disappointed!

Doris altered my bridesmaid dress, and I couldn’t believe that I actually looked good in a strapless! After trying all different kinds of strapless dresses and looking terrible in them, I thought that they just weren’t for me, until Doris did her magic. Now I can’t wait to wear it again!
For a couple adjustments to make the chest area tighter and more form-​fitting as well as bra pads, I paid around $ 70. Not bad at all.

There is no one better than Doris for wedding gown alteration! She is worth it. My daughter’s gown was beautifully altered. Doris gave expert advises with under garments, using static guard, making veil, hair, flowers, and everything else.

Doris helped me with a last minute bridesmaid dress emergency — she went out of her way to get the dress done before the big day… and she did an AMAZING job. The dress fit perfectly and looked as if I had given her all the time in the world to perfect it! I will definitely be going back here for my alterations from now on — as I was waiting for my appointments I saw her work on other customers (pants, casual dresses, etc) and it was just as great!

Doris does AMAZING work! I was referred to her for my wedding dress alterations by a friend that grew up in Needham and I’m so glad that I was. Before I knew of Doris I had visited an alterations shop on Newbury Street and was very disappointed in the service. The seamstress had told me that she would not be able to hem the dress to maintain the way it was originally made because it would be «too hard and too expensive.» Beg your pardon? Aren’t you in the business of wedding dress alterations? Needless to say from that point on I knew I would be going to a different seamstress, I just didn’t know where to go.
I called Doris’ on a Saturday morning and they told me to come right over so that she could take a look at the dress. Awesome! Doris took one look at the dress and said it would be no problem to make the alterations. I was so relieved. The dress looked perfect on the day of the wedding and there was never any concern about getting the dress finished on time. I could go on and on about how wonderful it was to work with Doris. She’s a wonderful woman and an amazing seamstress!!!

Doris altered my bridesmaid dress & did a wonderful job. She called me before the blizzard to tell me it was ready 2 days early and offered to stay late so I could pick it up. She was very nice (other reviewers commented that she was not so friendly, but she’s from Greece & still has a heavy accent, so that may be the reason). The service was great, the dress is beautifully tailored. It was not cheap! I would not go there for basic hems, but if you need something special altered, you can trust her.

Doris altered my wedding dress, extensively and perfectly, in two weeks. She is AMAZING. She has been tailoring since she was 13 and her work is flawless. My dress was all lace and needed hemming; she moved the beautiful scalloped edge of the lace up so it looked like the dress had always been that length. I have a short torso and a petite frame so she had to alter the bodice of the dress in a lot and move lace edges around there too – again, it looked amazing. Her bustle loops were double strong, and she put in internal straps so my bra would stay in place. She took care of everything.
Basically, if some pants of mine need a basic hem, I take them to my local drycleaners. If the shoulders or bodice or some other intricate alteration needs to be done, especially on a dress I paid a lot of money for, I take it to Doris. It’s a drive for me, but worth it. She is a genius.

My family has gone to Doris for as long as I can remember. She’s the best seamstress around, and very well priced. When my cousin got married and insisted that the dresses be touching the floor, it was all Doris could do not to slap her yardstick across the bride’s behind. This is simply not done, and yet, Doris did it for us. And they all looked beautiful.
