Petco

I really like this Petco. The store was recently renovated and it is very easy to find what you are looking for. The prices are reasonable and they often have sales and the Petco Pals Rewards program ($ 5 for every $ 100 you spend). I have tried my little local pet stores and I have not found the people to be as nice or as knowledgeable as they are at this Petco — everyone is super friendly and some even know my dog by name. We took a puppy kindergarten class here and the instructor Katie was great — she knows a great deal about dog nutrition and dog products also and is always very helpful. I had my dog micro-​chipped here and that went very well and was a fraction of the cost of what my vet charges. If you buy a product or food and it doesn’t work for your pet, they take it back if you have your receipt which is really fair and great (love a good return policy!) Parking is always easy in their big lot and your pets are welcome in the store!

The staff is friendly here, but I never seem to be able to find what I’m looking for and have to go to another pet store. They love my dog and shower him with attention and treats every time I bring him here. Convenient because it’s right around the corner from me. The groomer isn’t the friendliest– he left a lot of stray hairs in my dog’s armpits, and cut my dog’s nails so short they bled. We won’t be coming back for the grooming, even if the price is reasonable.

I brought my cat here for his vaccination. I was there before the clinic people showed up. They were late. Had 5 people ahead of me. A vet technician came around to do the paper work. She was not very knowledgeable as when it was my turn I questioned the veterinarian and she told me I should not be doing the rabies at the same time as all the other vaccines.
This Petco was extremely hot and uncomfortable also it smelled really bad.
I was mad at myself to have driven my poor kitty for so far only to save few dollars, definitely not worth it.

I’ve been to this petco several times. One time I took my dog and cat here for low cost vaccinations on a Saturday. I do not recommend this. The techs working at the vaccination clinic were total dopes. They had no idea what kind of shots should be given to my pets and all they did was give me a headache. I got there early and still had to wait in line for over an hour. To top it all off, the shots were only about $ 5 less than what you would pay at a regular vet.
The actual store is your standard petco. The employees are better than the ones at petsmart (but most people are). I cannot stand how hot the store is! It’s about 20 degrees outside and the store is boiling hot and will definitely make you sweat.

I was treated very rudely by the groomer. I understand she couldn’t do what I needed, but she didn’t have to be rude and abrupt with me. I will never set foot in this store again.

The store itself is like every other Petco but I want to compliment the grooming department. I have brought my corgi here a handful of times every year for the past 4 years to have his hair cut. They are consistent with the cut every time and it always comes out great. I usually don’t compliment big chain stores but the ladies here are just that friendly and courteous that I had to write them a review. I walk in with ease and the great thing is that I trust my dog with them. Thanks ladies! Keep up the great work!

This is a review for Adam, the fish guy. We don’t much about fish so can’t verify the accuracy of his advice but on a quiet Sunday evening he spent a good 20 minutes telling us everything we needed to know and answering my wife’s incessant questioning. He seemed extremely knowledgable and was very helpful. Thanks Adam!

I live in Needham and I love to shop the Needham Petco Store located less than 1 mile away. The Groomer Carleen is such a wonderful groomer as well as a personable person who knows my dogs Willy and Mikey; I have never been disappointed at all. In fact, I have used many Groomers in the past and she is terrific! My dog Willy, a Parti-​Poodle, has been groomed by Carleen many times and never forgets Willy’s name or my name and I find that impressive because she grooms many dogs at Petco.
I was very surprised to see the negative comments about the Petco staff in the store area. I have been a satisfied customer since the Needham Petco Store opened and I am always treated well and the staff has always gone out of their way to help me.
I just visited the store in Needham and Matt helped me choose a healthier dog food and explained to me that in order to choose a healthy dog food he suggested checking the ingredients for corn ingredients because corn can be upsetting to a dog’s digestive system and it is not suitable for dogs. I learned a lot about dog food from Matt and was impressed with his knowledge, not forgetting he was busy and took the time to help me. Marc the store manager, Adam and Peter were so helpful as well. Marc the manager helped me with a new harness for my Chi and took the time to put Mikey’s new name tag on my dog Mikey’s collar. Marc was personable and went out of his way for me. Adam patiently engraved a name tag for Mikey, eventhough, I could have done it on my own with the label engraving service I was so impressed to see there. Peter the cashier helped me as much as possible when there were no customers waiting, which he took care of with a smile and friendly words. He helped me pick out just the right name tag for my small Chi which was so kind because I left my glasses at home. I also was remined by Peter to use my Petco card and I saved $ 5.00 and he suggested I sign up to receive store saving coupons helping me pick out the name tag I needed for my dog. Thank you Petco for hiring some great employees. I must go now I just received a call from Carleen the groomer, my dog Willy is ready to be picked up now if that is convenient. How efficient she is! I just dropped Willy off 2 hours ago and she is right on time. Patti-​Anne Suleski of Needham. ONE time I didn’t like it. I feel it was unfair of me to write that review because Carleen is a wonderful groomer. I was wrong to write a critical review of her because she did not remember how I liked my dog’s cut. My neighbor brought my dog in that day not me. I am sorry for writing that and I would recommend Carleen to anyone who likes a terrific groomer!

2 of the boys who work here are great! Both knew next to nothing about snakes, one has a fear of snakes, and yet, both were happy to help. Even took out 2 of the snakes for me to handle, putting his fear aside! Took me down the isle and gave me a ballpark on what the expense will be for a full set up ! I’ve met 2 of the groomers and they both were super nice, and loved my lil dog, even thought I myself am a groomer, not far away! Like any store, there were a few dippy employees, but these 2 boys made up for it! Once I get my apartment, and am ready to have a new slithery friend, I’ll be back!!!

The best of the best dog groomers! I have an Eskimo dog and she is one hot mess when she gets dirty. Her fur is thick and matts easily forget the fact that she is pure white. She is also a diva dog and does not like being groomed or inconvenienced in any way. These groomers at Petco in Needham are sotop notch and great with any kind of dog. My dog goes in looking like she was caught in a tornado and comes out so fluffy white and smelling so good. She knows she looks good too because she prances right out to the car with a big happy smile. I should take before and after pics to post. You would think it was two totally different dogs.

My dog Chopin always gets compliments after his grooming here! They do a really good job.

I really liked this PetCo until I moved about a year ago. We took our 3 month old puppy here for basic obedience and their trainers were excellent. They also offered free puppy-​play time on Monday nights where you could bring your puppy or young dog for supervised socialization with a number of other dogs. I think we owe this Petco a lot for how great our dog turned out and would recommend the store and services to anyone in the area.

Petco as a company is really bad. They lure costumers with their PALS program, but every time I have tried to use my 10 or 15% of my next purchase, it never works. First of all they don’t even inform you that you have earned enough points, and even if you check yourself, they always have had an excuse why you can’t use them like it’s not out yet.
I also have found some of the employees very rude, moody and without desire to work. Very bad place.

I came there to buy some spray for cats and as it was my first time i ask one of the stuff members about different product and he didn’t even knnow what i was talking about. I find everything what i need by myself. And that’s a great service they promice? SEcond it’s dirty and on shelves a lot of dust. Some of the cans for cat food are really sticky. Have no idea for how long they stay there but it’s not good.
And it’s smell terrible. Really i couldn’t handle it.
I run fast get what ever i need and stuck on register. I respect old people but this person was SOOOOOO sloow. Really. I don’t want seems rud but he’s too old to work there. I wasn’t happy going there.

It’s conveniently located near me, but the staff has never really reached out to help. Recently, I purchased cat food and the ones I was interested in had some significant dust on top of the cans, which makes me wonder how long they’ve been there? Not outstanding or even close, but they have what I need and it’s not too expensive.

The grooming staff is very good. I take my dog there to get her nails clipped. My dog is a wimp, so she pees on the floor everytime. The staff never makes a fuss about it, and now they even recognize the big wimp when she shows up.

This Petco was completely redone recently — for the better. I almost reviewed it a few months back, after a very dismal, unsatisfying visit. It was a dark, unkept and rather depressing store. I went back out of desperation one night and found it to be in the midst of a grand opening. My puppy came along and definitely enjoyed himself. They had a good selection of products, from food to toys to regular supplies. The staff is pretty knowledgeable and very friendly. They even seem to know something about pets — which I did not expect! Good stuff — I will be back! Love that they are open fairly late, too.
