Smudge Nail Bar

I was in the area with my daughter and needed a quick mani for her and me, so we went here. This place was the closest to us and it was small, but clean and nice. The modern décor is inviting and the place looks clean. The owner did my nails and had one other tech working with him who did my daughters. They both did a nice job. The prices are a bit on the high side, but overall very pleased.
Don’t get confused by the natural nail polish, the color looks great and it’s supposed to be vegan and natural, but it adds an extra $ 6 each service (I thought it was free).

The 5 stars are for Mary, her customer service and quality which exceed 5 stars in my opinion. I prefer not to speak about Smudge as a business and would only recommend you go here if you see Mary.
If you see anyone else have a problem (if you see Mary you will have no problems) you will have to email the «owner» who needs to learn customer service skills in my opinion.

I went for a pedicure, which overall was nice, albeit a little pricey especially since I had add-​ons (a callus treatment, plus the polish I chose was an organic one that was extra $$- which I was never informed of). The one thing that frustrated me was that I never got a massage, and when I asked the pedicurist if she gave me a massage (to give her the benefit of the doubt), she lied and said yes. Now, I’m 7 months pregnant, and I always have swollen ankles and feet by the end of the day. I am certain that I would remember if I got a massage! I wish that she had been honest with me and admitted that she forgot, and perhaps offered a extra-​long massage or something for my next appointment (my nails were painted and wet so it was too late to do it then). Considering what I paid, I feel like that would have been the right thing to do.

Have been there twice but am making this my regular place: once for a regular manicure and once for shellac nails. On both occasions the polish lasted a lot longer than expected. I ask for Tuyet (Thu/​Fri/​Sat), who is very friendly and accommodating but more importantly, professional. She will advise on color and ask me what I want changed/​improved to my nails prior to applying the polish. Very good work, happy to go back there even though it is a bit more expensive. But it is clean and comfortable and it does not smell of chemicals. It’s a nice change!

I went here on a Gilt voucher and thought it was just OK given the regular prices. It’s very clean and sterile, which I really like, but both times I went, I left with mangled thumb polish. I’ve never had this happen elsewhere and they’ve been willing to fix it, but it’s hard to want to go back over and over again to fix a problem due to lack of time. The aestheticians are lovely, however, and it’s a nice addition in Needham given relatively unclean alternatives.
