Bruno’s Pizza & Subs

Horrific pizza I would rather eat sand. The guy burned out pizza twice and then was so surprised when we asked for plastic cups like it was a surprise to him people carry their soda outside the restaurant. My husband is Italian from NY and he said it was the worst pizza he had in his life.

Best Subs in NJ and NYC. My ex brother in law was a Chef in an upscale NYC hotel. All he wanted me to bring him when I visited was Subs from Bruno’s. The pizza and everything else are also excellent

I like there sandwiches way better than their pizza. Not Mmmmm knocking but I like my slice somewhere else. The cheesesteak i great. Has the right amount of meat on it, not too dry and they put mushrooms on it for me. My mom’s friend introduced me to the fried chicken sub and it was phenomenal. The bacon took it to another level.

Penne vodka was too sweet. Pretty average pizza place. Employees were too loud while i was trying to enjoy my dinner.

We often go to Brunos when we visit Avon beach. The pizza is good but we really like the subs and fresh sandwiches. Try it!

From what I’ve tried Bruno’s is an okay pizzeria, not a fan of the white pizza its way to greasy and never fresh when your just trying to grab a slice.

Excellent pies and other items on the menu. Staff members aren’t overly friendly compared to some of the other places in the neighborhood but I guess they have the competitive advantage with their excellent taste. Good happy hour deals, especially on Wednesdays.

Stopped in to pick up a bunch of hot sandwiches mid day on a weekday. They were ready quickly, it was very slow in there. Right after paying with my credit card I asked for a side of honey mustard, and the woman behind the counter said «Oh, that’s an extra 50 cents.» My card had already been swiped and they have a $ 5 minimum for credit card orders, but seriously? I just spent almost $ 50 on sandwiches and you couldn’t spring for a side of honey mustard dressing? Cheap move, pretty classless — definitely took them down a notch.
Once I brought the sandwiches to the house we dug in, and to my disappointment I discovered that their «paninis» are NOT real. This is a huge pet peeve of mine. Just because you used slightly flattened bread that is warm does NOT make it a panini. It was the exact same bread (hoagie roll) used for their hot subs, so needless to say the menu was misleading and it sucked because we got a few of them. They were very small and ingredients were pretty dry and stingy. The chicken parm & buffalo chicken cheesesteak subs were pretty good, but that was it. The onion rings were decent but the french fries were cold (not 5 minutes after picking up) and essentially flavorless.
Overall, the place is okay in a pinch but can’t say I’d recommend it after that first experience and probably won’t be going back.

Since the initial post Bruno’s has contacted us to let us know that what happened with the return of the salad was not the way they do business. This is their reply…
«We are very sorry that this happened to you. We wish you would have spoken to one of the managers about this. We pride ourself on completely satisfying our customers if there is something wrong obviously one of our employees did not handle this professionally. If you would like to please come in and speak to either Ester or Mary and we will make you another salad free of charge. Customer service is very important but things do sometimes fall thru the cracks. This will be addressed! Thank you for letting us know.»
I will go back!

Today I went to Brunos for lunch and the food was horrible First let me state I walked in I told the girl behind the counter what I wanted Mussels in red sauce, fried calamari and a large margarita pizza if I liked it I would bring what I did not eat home as I went to pick a table they were all dirty from some prior customers, all the tables had used napkins or crumbs or tomato sauce on the top of the table, I had to request a wet wash cloth but some nice Mexican cleaned off my table
The food first the Mussels were frozen and were horrible the fried calamari was also frozen and heavily battered and was terrible
The so called pizza was like sheet rock with cheese and some type of sauce.
Now I donot know where the people who ate there rave about the food must have came out of a Walking Dead sequence… I will never eat there Again!!!

The food is decent, but customer service on my last order was very very poor. A young man rushed through my order over the phone and basically hung up before I could even say thank you or goodbye. Then my fiancé picked it up and brought it home… it was all wrong. I called them to let them know of the mix ups and they basically said next time I should confirm the order before I hang up and that the only thing I could do is come in and pay for what they forgot. Ridiculous. Why give my money to an establishment that doesn’t seem to care if they get my order right? I will not be going back.

I’ve been coming here for years now, But let me tell you, this place’s portions are great. From their pizzas (which are pretty big), to their hot or cold sandwiches (which are packed with food), and the dinner fills me up which is surprising because I’m a bottomless pit.
This place is constantly busy, and every time they are accommodating to everyone, very friendly even when it’s a madhouse behind the counter. They work like a machine! And the food is always delicious and prompt when it comes out.
Only downside, the parking lot isn’t big enough to support all the customers which is a good problem I guess if you have any problems.
Great clean establishment, great staff that can make some awesome food and always appear delighted to serve. Definitely worth your money!

Happy to see the ham on the «brunos special «sub was reduced! This made the sub 100 times better. I could actually taste the individual ingredients. I had previously wrote a review on the same thing and was told that next time I came in, it would be better. Well they came through big time. 5 star worthy.

I grew up here. So I have been eating at Bruno’s from before it even remotely looked like the restaurant it is today. So naturally when I visit my parents, we order from Bruno’s. This one of the local places to eat for everyone in the know. When I lived out of the state, I would tell people about how great the Pizza and Subs were in NJ and used Bruno’s as an example.
I absolutely love the Subs and I know I am not the only one. The restaurant is large and clean. It is regularly frequented by all the local police, sheriffs, firemen, etc.

Bruno’s is my wife and I’s favorite pizza spot in the area. The staff is nice and the food is bangin. We usually do a Pizza Friday and most times we do not even get pizza but everything we have had is delish.
I usually judge a place by their meatballs as its my favorite food and here they’re just as good as homemade.

Great quality tasty subs, pizza and cheesesteaks. Restaurant is very clean. Staff is always super friendly. Definitely one of my go to spots.

Great food and great family run business. Pizza is great and so are the dinners and subs. A local favorite for sure.

Nicest family ever. Brunos entire family appears to work here and he is as nice as they come. The Food is fresh and the pizza selection is great. The cops are always coming in and they are always going up to say hello. Good old time feel you don’t get anymore.

Best Pizza and Subs on the Jersey Shore
Bruno’s is a family run business that serves the best pizza and subs on the Jersey Shore. The subs are huge so plan on two or three meals if you order one for take out. The pizza is the best! A perfect crust and blend of your favorite toppings. The new restaurant makes «eating in» a real pleasure. They have an incredible menu of mostly Italian dishes that are outstanding. I have six kids and they all say Bruno’s is their favorite place to get pizza.
I am a former New Jersey Assistant Commissioner of Health and President of the New Jersey Public Health Association. So when I tell you that the place in impeccably clean and well maintained, I don’t give that away easily. The family and friends who run Bruno’s are warm and friendly. In no time they are calling you by your first name. You truly feel welcome! All the local police, fireman and first aiders seem to gravitate to Bruno’s. They are very community minded. They put up what I consider the best «Paint the Town Pink» display to stressing breast cancer prevention, detection and treatment campaign. They really care about others and it shows in everything they do! I love having them in our town. They help build community and serve the finest pizzas and subs on the shore.
I believe that Jersey and New York have the best pizza in the country. And the «best of the best» is Bruno’s!!! Put them to the test! You will love it !!!
