Great service, was seen immediately. The experience was overall satisfying,

I called for a last minute appointment to get my hair styled(curls). I asked for a round about price quote. They told me they couldn’t give me one over the phone because they didn’t know my hair or what exactly I wanted or the time it would take. I get it. I said I was coming in with my hair blown out and didn’t want this time consuming hair construction or to be like this $ 70 event, just 15 minutes of curls with a flat iron I can’t do myself without leaving creases in my hair. She finally said, the minimum starts at $ 25 but would go up depending on length. Ok I have long hair, I know it would be more. Fast forward and to make a long story short, the girl who did my hair did a beautiful job. It took her 16 minutes. I get to the register thinking it’d be sweet if they charged me $ 25 — $ 30, but I wouldn’t be terribly surprised if they bumped it up to like $ 45 claiming I had longer hair despite the fact it took 16 minutes and I think $ 25 is more than fair(I would have tipped her $ 10+ regardless). I go to pay… she says it’s $ 65!!! $ 65 for 16 minutes, not including tip, I left $ 13 tip bc I am not a bitchy person and understand people are trying to a make a living. So I paid $ 78 for a 16 minute service. That is borderline rape. I will NEVER be back, which is a shame bc they really did a good job. So cactus, I hope you enjoy your $ 65, bc in exchange I’ll be telling others my story. I should have been told prices start at $ 50, not $ 25 if that’s REALLY what you charge.

Wanted to try a new salon close to home. First haircut not great but decided to give them a 2nd chance.(not one of my best decisions) First visit I requested a simple angle cut no layers for shoulder length hair. Hair had no shape so I went back and requested long layers keeping the shoulder length(very important that i could still put my hair up in a clip) and i also requested a BITOF a thinning out with those special scissors that my prior stylist used beautifully. I even showed her a picture of the cut I wanted. Well, I ended up with the worst hair cut I have ever had. Short layers, very uneven(I don’t even know what’s going on in the back — I seem to have very very short layers back there) one side is different than the other and the length I have left is just wispy as if I have very thin hair. I can barely get it up in a clip and thank god I can because I have not worn it down since I got it cut approximately 3 weeks ago. After 3 weeks of trying to get this hair cut to look halfway decent I went back to the salon to speak with the manager. she was not there so I explained to one of the employees who explained to the manager over the phone. The manager said I waited too long to come back and therefore she could only offer me a 20% discount on my next cut. really? I was trying for 3 weeks to get it to work! She did not seem to care that her stylist does not seem to have the slightest idea how to cut hair and she certainly does not know how to use the thinning scissors. obviously I will never go back again and will now have to continue wearing my hair up until it grows out enough for someone to fix it. OBVIOUSLYNOTTHISSALON. HORRIBLEEXPERIENCE.

I always get my hair done at this Cactus Salon by Sirena. Just today, I got 6 compliments on my hair color. She really is an artist. My boy friend is even shocked by how many people comment on how pretty my hair color and cut is. I highly recommend her and this place. The salon treats you like family.

Janine did a great job on my hair. However, the product gold well didn’t work well in my hair. As they say you get what you pay for. Very cheep salon. Also didn’t like that a few of there employees that were still in school were taking turns in between the stylist that I booked the appointment with.

OMG, if you need a change and are not satisfied with the hair services you now receive — don’t hesitate to go to Cactus Salon in Nesconset on Smithtown Boulevard. You won’t be sorry. I decided I desperately needed a change and today was the day. I was greeted very warmly by the OWNER, Martha, who made me feel so comfortable. Everyone in the Salon was very positive. I met with Aja, who is a phenomenal stylist AND colorist and she listened to me. The cut was so great that I opted for color on the spot. She was so gracious and accommodating — all I can say is my hair hasn’t looked this good in ages; the color looks natural and the results are absolutely amazing! More importantly, I can now look in the mirror and like what I see! Check this Salon out, seriously, you won’t be sorry. I think it’s very reasonably priced and the money is well spent; I’ve already booked my next appointment.

Anytime a girl gets her hair done it can be a little nerve wrecking. I decided it was time for a change and checked out Cactus Salon in Nesconset. I had the most FABULOUS experience. The staff greeted me with a warm welcome and eased my nerves immediately when I told them I was on edge about the color treatment I had gone in for. Even the owner, Martha took some time to chat with me — what a sweetheart! The environment was fun & upbeat and every person I interacted with was awesome. And of course, my hair came out amazing!!! I would definitely recommend Cactus to anyone who is looking for a fresh new look. I’m looking forward to my next visit!

I’m not a big fan of the big, cold look of the salon, but the staff there was very polite, even when I gave them my Groupon coupon. They treated us very nicely and I have to say that the hairdresser did a really nice job. I will go back and I do believe that you can find nice quality hair products there. I also like the fact that they would accept coupons and welcome you back.

i’m pretty spontaneous with my salon visits. i go when the mood strikes. for months, i hadn’t had an allegiance to anyone, but i may have found a new spot in the cactus that recently popped up in nesconset. i hadn’t given any attention to my hair in some time and it needed a little tlc. valerie did a really great low-maintainance color and because i was impressed, i told her to give me a cut too. it was spot on and exactly my style. because of valerie, i’ve ditched my drug store hair products and upgraded my dryer to the babyliss and i couldn’t be happier. she knows her stuff. i’m sad she’s only in sunday and tuesdays so now my appointments need to be a little more thought out, but it’s worth it. i’ve only visited the cactus chain in stony brook before this, but i find this salon and it’s staff a little warmer.
