We had a wonderful tour with a most knowledgable guide(who was really one of the museum administrators cheerfully stepping in for the regular guides who were ill.) The mansion was incredibly beautiful and the history behind it was fascinating. Mr. Culbertson was the most wealthy man in Indiana during his time, but he willing gave some of his wealth so that others in his community could have better living conditions(clean water, bridge to Louisville, etc.) AND he believed in schooling girls progressively… which was not common during Victorian times. All in all, a pretty groovy guy with a gorgeous home. Well worth the $ 7 tour!

If you’re in the area, it’s definitely worth the $ 5 admission to visit this home. Tours leave on the hour. The young tour guide was enthusiastic and informed. The home is gradually being renovated, and it is fascinating to see the home in various states of repair.
