One of my favorite places in New Bern. The food is interesting, fresh, delicious, and the ambiance is charming. I love to sit at the bar. It’s a very little spot, with very casual décor. I’ve only had sandwiches, but all of them were great. I can’t wait to go back!

What a great experience, we have eaten here so many times, can’t be counted, but tonight was the best. We normally eat outside, but we got caught in the rain, so joe made arrangements to eat under the shelter at prohibitions. The meal was the best, service was spectacular. Thanks to joe at 247, and the folks at prohibitions for making this one of the best eating experiences ever!

I have eaten here many times. I considered it one of my favorite restaurants in New Bern. Well, tonight it was abisimal. I am sorry to report that I was served a slice of Striped Bass that honestly had 3/8’s of an inch of burnt fish on top. I smelled the char as soon as the Plate was on the table. Quite honestly I do not know what more to say. I cannot believe a cook would send out a plate like that. it will be a long time before I go back.

Lucked out on a busy night downtown and got seats at the bar. Ever changing menu so can’t say try this but the mussels in miso ginger — sage broth were memorable. and this is from someone who has been to Prince Edward Island and Belgium. Who would have thought sage with mussels? Wow. The venison chops with date chutney were cooked to medium rare perfection. Do make a reservation if you can. Don’t take a: chance like us. You don’t want to miss this delectable creative cuisine.

Craven was delicious! Excellent and fast service even without a reservation(in March). Salmon and seabass, each with different kinds of gnocchi and veggies, were phenomenal. Delicious new-old fashioned cocktail. Definitely try out this place when you’re in New Bern!

I was extremely disappointed by the food here. Very small place, the dishes online looked amazing, but everything I had was a let-down. I had fried green tomatoes, which were served with olive tapenade, not a traditional accompaniment, but it was okay. Tomatoes were a little mushy, and I felt like it was missing something(needs balsamic or fresh basil?). For dinner I had Salmon, which was overcooked. It came with a mustard sauce, which overpowered the entire dish. The gnocchi, brussel sprouts, and artichokes all tasted the same from the sauce. I also shared another dish; it was a yellowfin tuna, cooked with spinach. It was served in a broth, not on a plate. It was extremely bland, and tasted like miso soup. It was supposedly ‘spicy’ but it tasted like broth and nothing else. For the price, I don’t think I will return.

247 Craven is OUTSTANDING! The lobster saffron risotto, crab, and grilled triggerfish was one one the best meals I have EVER had!

A quiet Sunday afternoon and ended up here. My wife and I both had the burger and both were phenomenal. The 247 sauce alone is worth the visit and then were blown away with desert. The carrot cake is an absolute masterpiece complimented by barista quality coffee. We were elated of the service and quality of our meal, even though we showed up 20 minutes before mid afternoon closing. The staff and cooks delivered an exceptional experience.

I visited this place today after reading the Unilocal reviews. I started with the pork belly lettuce wrap which was fantastic. It’s a really great mix of bbq pork belly, pickled purple onions, green tomatoes and slaw with Bibb lettuce as the wrap. Tons of awesome flavor! My main course was the fennel crusted tuna. Ordered medium rare it came out perfect! The salad with Brussels sprouts with crab made this a filling but refreshing entrée. I’m here on business but would recommend this to anyone that visits New Bern. Really special place.

We are sitting here right now, having dessert, and two individuals,(an older woman and a young man) keep coming from the kitchen glaring at us and making comments for us to leave in a very rude manner. I have never been treated so rudely in my life. The door say«until» as to when they close… Maybe they should change the hours… If downtown New Bern wants to have people come spend money. This is not the way. All 6 of us will never be back and we like to spend money at restaurants. It will not be here.

The food here is probably the best downtown has to offer on a schedule that works for the area. These guys stay open regular hours. The wait staff in general leave quite a bit to be desired though. Slow for so many of them for so few tables. The group needs to up their game. Slowest plate clearing within 50 miles of international waters. Place has a policy of ‘if you don’t like it, sit down and eat it. It’s good for you, and ‘nope, we ain’t taking that gruel of a gazpacho made with watered down Taco Bell sauce off yer bill.’

The food is very good but the service is lacking. My husband and I chose this spot based off of reviews and while we truly enjoyed our food, the service was just non-existent. We had to wait for an extremely long time for our first course and even had to ask for bread to hold us over until it came– and that took a long time! Our server only stopped at our table to drop our food off or if we asked him to. Otherwise he was MIA. It was very frustrating. The other downside to the restaurant is that it is extremely loud. Surprisingly so for such a small space. You can hear someone’s conversation from the other side of the room and it seems as though people were raising their voices just to be heard. Overall, I might go back for the meal but it would be great if the owner could tweak the service and noise level a bit.

Great food and great service! Went there for dinner with a lot of people and we ended up getting every appetizer and dessert on the menu. They were all delicious! Probably one of the best restaurants in New Bern. It’s a small space, so I recommend making a reservation. The prices are reasonable and they make good drinks as well.

Love this place, this is my first review for here but I make a point to eat here whenever business brings me here. The one recommendation I have is do the chefs tasting, 5 courses for $ 45. My favorite part was the hangar steak and marrow, but the crab, shrimp toast, and carrot cake did not disappoint. Always a treat to come here and pretty reasonable priced. The server tonight was rock solid, she had us laughing and made the food that much better! Can’t wait to come back!

This restaurant is ABSURDLY expensive for what they offer. There are a lot of good ideas floating around(specialty cocktails, charcuterie board, etc) but the execution falls flat. Everything was *fine* but not worth the price. First off, the server warned my husband his cocktail came in a martini glass and asked him if he was comfortable with that or if he wanted a ‘manlier’ glass. I guess they must have had issues with this in the past? The charcuterie board had gouda, blue cheese, and parmesan. Weirdly, all three of these cheeses were ultra hard and crazy salty. In fact, everything on the board was super salty. No balance of flavors anywhere. The shrimp and pancetta pasta was good, although small as other reviewers have noted. The Scallops and polenta came out swimming in a brown liquid. I say ‘brown liquid’ and not ‘sauce’ because the amount of liquid poured on top of the entrée turned it into a weird soup. Why? Why. This small, soupy entrée should have been no more than $ 15. I’m happy to pay for excellent food, but I can’t believe they charge almost $ 30 for this mess. The seafood doesn’t even taste particularly fresh. We didn’t bother with dessert. Over all, I might return for a drink, but I won’t order food here again unless they lower the prices. It’s just not worth it.

So far, my favorite spot here in New Bern is 247 Craven. Walking distance from the Marriott courtyard, it’s in a very convenient location. The menu covers your basic variety: steak, seafood, duck, pasta — but with an elegant cooking style to it. FYI All entrees are north of $ 20. We ordered the pork belly appetizer. Delicious! Cooked just right and a good balance of meat and fat. I got the duck confit — it was their special, but it was such a popular dish that they’ve officially added it to the menu! Delicious!(Note: the waitress said they change their menu every month.) The atmosphere is pretty casual but the menu items are choices you might find at a fancy fine dining restaurant. I highly recommend this spot!

In town for my daughters Gymnastic meet at New Bern High School and my wife’s birthday. One of our friends recommended this place and said the service and food were excellent. Well, he was right! We had a fantastic meal, bottle of wine, and dessert. Everything about this place was top notch. The portions are not going to be like a Buffett but smaller as most top notch places serve.

I’ve been here several times for lunch, and each time I’m more impressed than the last. It is definitely a great find in New Bern! On my most recent visit, I had the mushroom panini with a side of potato salad. Both were amazingly good. I’ve ordered the PBT(pimiento cheese, bacon, tomato) sandwich on previous visits and it was to die for– one of my favorite finds on the menu! The wait staff is always friendly and knowledgeable in terms of the menu. On this last visit, which was a packed Friday at lunch, our waitress made sure the drinks at our table were refilled constantly and that we never had to wait. I recommend this place all the time and can’t wait to visit for dinner.
