My stay at the Bridgepointe Hotel can best be described by the good, the bad, and the ugly. THEGOOD: The location is great. It’s right on the water(not sure what body of water). There’s a marina attached. The employees couldn’t have been any kinder or more accommodating. They were all truly delightful and just as hospitable as the staff at the Ritz. Kudos for Southern hospitality. I actually feel really bad giving this place a bad review. Pets can stay here. Doggie daycare was booked, so my Frenchie came along for my business trip. They also have a free breakfast. It’s not Embassy Suites worthy, but it’s solid. THEBAD: The room wreaked of smoke, stale smoke at that. The bed was literally the worst bed I have ever slept on. I travel a lot for work, and until this stay that whole Dateline black light in the hotel room episode hadn’t crossed my mind. I was totally sketched out by the comforter and may or may not have used my dog for a pillow rather than touching the actual pillows provided. On top of that, it felt like sleeping on a bed of straw. I was near tears in back pain by the time I got back to Charleston after a night on this torturous mattress. THEUGLY: As if the smoke and mattress weren’t enough, there were unknown stains on the dilapidated carpet. Cable reception was a joke. We’re talking I could listen to NBC but couldn’t make out the picture through all of the static. I felt safe and I had a lovely view, but that’s about it. Based on the bed alone, I will not be staying here again. C’est la vie. Life on the road has its ups and downs, and the Bridgepointe Hotel was definitely on the lower end of the spectrum.

I don’t like giving this hotel a three star because for the most part it was at least 4 — except for the noise and hassle. Location is wonderful. Breakfast is good. Room is nice and comfortable, and hotel is clean. Staff is incredibly friendly. Rooms have fridge and microwave. Pool is nice. Views are incredible and price is good. So why three stars? First, we arrived at 4pm on a Friday. Check in is 3pm. We had literally been traveling since 9pm the night before. Our room was not ready. Not only us, there were four others waiting for rooms too. Not a good start to our stay. Second, our keys kept getting erased. We were here 5 days and 4 of them required is to walk back to the front desk because our key would not open the door. Even upon arrival. Third, and most annoying, is noise. We got woken up every single day because of noise. First two days it was kids running in the hallway. I can’t knock the hotel for that though, they don’t have control of other people’s kids. The other three days it was the painters in the adjacent rooms. Day one, moving furniture at 8am. Day two was scraping wallpaper off the walls. Day three was sanding the walls. We are not early risers, but if check out us noon, I should be able to sleep til 10am if I want to. Other noise issues included the two bunny rabbits screwing all night long in one of the rooms. I called them and asked him to have her enjoy herself a bit more quietly and she did. But at 9am(after we woke up to sanding next door) my daughter, who is 5, was asking me why the woman was screaming next door. Last was housekeeping. We got a note at 930am each morning telling us that we had our do not disturb sign out and had to notify the desk if we needed service. Housekeepers are scheduled to work til 1pm, so why do I need to ask the front desk for service? Come back after you have cleaned the departures and then leave me the note. Overall, our stay wasnt bad, and I would probably stay here again. But with much lower expectations

There say, location, location, location. that it is, EZ on and off highways, can walk over bridge to town, this is a Dog friendly hotel, a nice lawn to walk dog on but NO poop bags. As for the room… needs some updating… beds and pillows are OK. This is when it turns bad!!! Upon entering the room, my dog sniffed around than became obsessive about something under the dresser. My Husband looked and found a muffin! and dust… I did find the housekeeping and ask her to vacuum. the vacuum only went so far under… she didn’t bend down and go under with the small hose! The next day, we all left(dog too) and did not get back til 6:30 pm to find the room NOT cleaned! NO beds made, NO new towels, NO garbage empty, NOT vacuumed! Call the front desk and was told housekeeping was gone, but can send some new towels up if we liked… Also the free breakfast nothing to rave about, extremely plain… not even half n half for coffee.

A great, clean, understated hotel with lovely views of the bay. My bed and pillows are comfy and there is a tiki bar downstairs with live music. I don’t usually stay in 2 star hotels, and this one definitely is, but my room is very spacious and clean. Who cares if I don’t have a flat screen tv?

After spending a month in hotels all throughout North Carolina and Virginia, this was one of our favorites! Ralph working the front desk was so helpful and went out of his way to make sure we were comfortable. The rooms were large, the view was great, it was a very nicely maintained facility and breakfast was included. I’d recommend and would definitely come back.
