Service was just okay. It was a very slow when we went and food took forever! Ordered 6 pizza rolls. 3 cheese and 3 pepperoni. We got 5 pepperoni and no cheese? How does that happen. The bartender apologized and asked the kitchen to make us 3 cheese rolls and almost an hour later they came out. We won’t come back. There’s just too many good places to eat and drink around here to come back to a bad experience.

Any place where you have to flag someone down to notice you or announce your existence, doesn’t deserve your business. I’ve gone twice and sat myself down and looked at a menu only to wait… wait… and wait for someone to notice me. I moved tables twice and still nothing. If this place wants to serve as a restaurant or place to grab food at, they should have people greeting you immediately… instead of way in the back serving beer and having you walk up to them to let them know you want to eat.

The BEST pizza in New Braunfels hands down. Its not Underground, it is street level. The kitchen sink is the pie. Pizza rolls are off the chain.

Nice place. Good place to catch a Monday night game or a cold beer. Darts and pool available.

Love their pizza rolls and ranch! Highly recommend. We usually order them for take out so I can’t speak for the atmosphere or staff attitudes, other than it has been a pleasant pick up experience each time.

If you want to bring in St. Patrick’s day by drinking overpriced green beer while listening to the worst of 90’s hip hop while you are surrounded by folks in the 40+ age bracket, this is the place for you.

Great food, great beer, great environment. Had dogs with us and they let us sit on the back porch. Rally great time and the pizza we had was awesome.

Good beer selection. EXCELLENT pizza rolls. I don’t even like pizza but those suckers changed my life. Only downfall is you come out smelling like an ashtray. Wish they would ban smoking.

Yuk — smoking permitted and most of the patrons were taking advantage of it. Walked in and immediately had to leave. Too bad — otherwise seemed like a good place based upon reviews.

Wow. Wow. Wow. I live within walking distance of this place and LOVE it. They have a back porch patio and are dog friendly on the back porch. No service outside if you are early and it’s not busy but they are very quick to get your order inside. Also they make it a point check on you out there once they know you are there. They have great deals on pitchers and have everyday drink specials. The food is the main reason we come back. Pizza is amazing!!! We have tried the kitchen sink, margarhita, spinach bacon, the chicken one(I forget what it is called) the pizza rolls, the Philly cheesesteak and more. They do have soccer games going on here too which is another plus. I have been here about eight times and have never been dissappointed. Pizza is worth the price all day. Normally wouldn’t spend that much but so worth it. Best pizza in new braunfels hands down. Edit: was coming here for years until we received the worst service a few times in a row recently(I always tip 20% or more regardless). The pizza quality has gone down and we can’t get served. Go to underground pizza, don’t waste your time here.

Plenty of ice cold beers on tap. Pretty good pizzas, we had been drinking all day so I don’t really remember if the pizza was great but I know it wasn’t bad! Once the sun went down and the band started playing the place filled up fast! Fridays & Saturdays are usually Busy & Crowded… but the crowd is a Lot of fun!

Beer? Check. Noisy? Check. Attentive Bar Staff? Check. Everything you would expect from your small, downtown pub. This place will get SUPERCRAZY busy on St. Patrick’s Day and days when they close down the square to traffic(Wassailfest, Wein & Saengerfest, etc.). This is also a good place to hang out at during Halloween. Everybody who is bar hopping in a costume will come through this place. So just get a table with a view of the door and watch for entertainment. Here’s a little tip you may not know. Barry, the local strongman at the place, will queue up a playlist of tunes that is relevant to the event/holiday. His Halloween playlist is something I have been trying to get from him for a while.

Those who know me well knows I heart New Braunfels! Oddly enough, it wasn’t until 2 years ago that I discovered they actually have a little bar scene there. Of all the bar’s I’ve now been to in NB, Calahan’s remains my #1 pic. Located right off the Comal County Courthouse square, Calahan’s is one of the first pubs you come accross. Aside from the heavy smell of smoke(Hays & Comal Co still allow smoking inside), Calahan’s is very clean & spacious inside. Service here is excellent! Alan Stark & the other bartenders/staff are very friendly & knowledgable, always take the time to check on you despite how busy they might get. All the mixed drinks are poured to the right consistency & they have a decent selection of beers on tap. I would recommend the Pedernales Brewing Co IPA, Brewed locally in Johnson City, it is one of the few beers I have not been able to find(yet) in Austin. As for food, Calahan’s has the pizza game down! I would recommend the«Kitchen Sink»(their supreme pizza) but I have yet to try a bad one. My Fiancée likes their Buffalo-style pizza, another great choice if you’re a fan of wngs! Wings … Calahan’s also sells wings in 3 different size orders(6, 12, & I believe they even have a 20pc option…) Something else worth trying! Enough said, Whether you’re in NB for the River, nearby Greune Hall, escaping San marcos, or whatever brings you there, a downtown pub crawl is something worth doing & Calahan’s is a great place to start… or end… or both!

Wow! A smoky divey bar with craft beer on tap! Didn’t know these places still existed. Service was good and drinks were cold. Kinda loud and it closes at 1. A place where the common folk can hang in New Braunfels.

Lots of beer on tap! A really fun bar with pool, darts, etc. Good atmosphere, but it IS a bit bright as far as lighting, so that could be improved. I would give it higher stars but even after hearing all about the pizza, I thought it was very good but not awesome. The basil on the Margherita Pizza(an Italian classic) was squeezed, liquid basil. I have had that pizza all over the world, and I’ve never had it without real basil. Aside from that it’s a great pub and I’d go again!

A fun little«pub» with some kitschy elements… gotta love the leprechaun sized door in the beer garden and the faux castle inside. Happy hour was particularly cheap with lots of domestics on draft and a small but respectable selection of imports. Lots more in bottles. Plenty of TVs at the bar and lots of sit down seating. Don’t be fooled — you don’t have to go in through the main door, the side one works too.

Went here with my friends a couple of weeks ago for an hour or so. It was a Monday, so extremely empty. .. to a nearly creepy degree. But the sun was shining through the glass window wall, so I felt less creeped out. Thank you sunshine! My friends and I had a couple of drinks — not the strongest, but they weren’t completely filler material either. Then we pretty much amused ourselves by one of the dart boards and pool table. I can’t really offer much more than that, because the bar was pretty staffed with seemingly only the bartender, so he kind of kept his post unless we walked up to order a drink. The clientele(by that I mean the two other people that were there) consisted of older men, just kind of taking it easy on this particularly Monday early evening. I hear this place CAN get pretty bumpin’ on the weekends and St. Patrick’s Day, but on a Monday early evening — it’s pretty much dead! So if that’s your objective — to seek a pub with very low volume and content on a weekday — here’s your place!

You would think that visiting a pub with a clover on the sign for St. Patrick’s Day might be an invitation to large crowds and nonexistent service. While there were certainly a fair share of the former, the service was impressive throughout the night. Sure, there were certainly enough cheap specials the night of our visit, but the bar has an impressive stock of beers from the better parts of Europe, as well as a large collection of Texan and U.S. brews. The Scotch selection, too, presented over two dozen varieties. It was fun exploring some of the better offerings over the course of the night. The bulk of the menu centers around pizza, so we ordered a couple of thin crusts adorned with venison sausage. The sausage was unique and(unsurprisingly) gamey, though nothing remarkable. The pizza on the whole was better than I was expecting, with a thin crust nearly in the Midwestern style, cut true to form in squares. It certainly didn’t last long given the long wait thanks to the crowds. We also tried the pizza rolls, which were freshly made and larger than expected. It’s not something that every pizzeria makes, certainly. I don’t think New Braunfels has much of a night life scene, but you could certainly do worse than the fairly-priced drinks and solid pie of Calahan’s.
