This place should be called Asshole Saloon. There are much better bars out here. Vending machine food, bottled beers, and really rude staff(glasses bartender). We came for pool and games but were shoved out before closing. We didn’t get to finish our game. Whenever we asked for anything: like change, wifi password, another drink; it was like we were bothering him. I’m sure he had a long day, but put that aside and have a better attitude, it makes customers experiences better, them likely to return and you make more tips$$. We were treated like shit, and we won’t be back. However, the décor is nice and you can smoke inside.

We drove 45 mins to this place to dance and have a few beers. Really interesting place. A lot to look at. Loved that they had shuffle board, pool and other games to play before hitting the dance floor. We arrived about 9:00 and the place was already full with one bartender. Took 10 to 15 mins to get a beer. Defiantly should be better staffed on a weekend. Unfriendly staff. They have nothing on draft and carry no local beer, bottles only. DJ was horrible. Like I said we went with intentions of dancing. Did not get to dance once! It says they play plenty of country, some rock and top 40 songs. It was more like 80’s, hip hop and a few country songs. No actual dancing music unless you wanted to line dance. Dance floor was also covered in people just standing around in groups. Would not drive out of my way again for this place. All in all bummer night.

I’m pretty sure Garth Brooks penned the song ‘Friends in Low Places’ sitting at the bar of Watering Hole Saloon. Watering Hole is located on your way out of town from the Hill Country. Unless you know about it, or Unilocal the area, there isn’t a snowballs chance in hell you are going to find this place. Pool, darts, foosball, and arcade games fill the empty floor space. TV’s are a-plenty, making sports visible from every peripheral. The back of the bar has a large stage and dance floor for what can only be assumed to make for a good olé Honky Tonk affair. It is the epitome of the definition of: local dive bar. Kitschy memorabilia lines the walls, hidden under billowing clouds of smoke from patrons cigarettes. The crowd is made up of locals. Unamused by newcomers but respectful in that sweet southern way. The bartender and assumed part owner here was nothing short of an ideal service industry worker. She was engaged and friendly and knew the ins and outs of everything. One of our party wanted cider, she retorted with two different types of cider and a strawberry ale that was similar in taste. Her recommendation on the Ale was spot on and our non-beer drinker of the group enjoyed her beverage. A bright shining light was that this bar is PETFRIENDLY. After a long weekend of camping, we were anxious to find a bar where both of our dogs would be permitted. They were welcomed with open arms and ear scratches from our bartender. Come here, where the whiskey drowns And the beer chases your blues away and you’ll be okay The Garth is not a true statement– do not fact check me on Wikipedia.

Stopped in to catch the end of the ACC tournament. My Blue Devils let me down but this Texas watering hole did not. Lots of TVs and bar games — shuffleboard, pool, video games, Foosball — and kitschy décor. The bartender was very friendly. No food, but there were green beans in my excellent bloody Mary :) Also, dog-friendly. How cool!!!

Talk about a diamond in the rough! I’ve only been here for day drinking but from what I can see I definately want to come back and sample the night life. The bartenders were pretty funny and engaging. Which makes for a welcoming atmosphere. Watering hole is a great spot to hit up if your driving back to S.A. However just a heads up the turn is off the access road so if your not paying attention you’ll drive right by it. Do yourself a favor and check it out. There is a definite locals feel which is pretty cool.

Okay place for locals. They definitely have it all if you want pool, darts, shuffleboard, etc. Even video games and foosball. The décor is everywhere and it would take hours to check everything out. The HH specials are good and the staff is great to the regulars, not so much if you’re an occasional visitor. Just your average dark, local bar that has a little something for everyone. If you’re in town, you should stop by.

A good place to relax and have a few. There are a few pool tables and other games as well. It’s a good bar that when I hear Toby Keith’s song I love this bar it makes me think of the watering hole. Bartender was always helpful with me and my fiancé with no issues.

Oh New Braunfels why do you have to be so far? But you’re worth it everytime I come here. Let’s just say unless someone awesome is playing at Gruene Hall don’t bother going the Watering Hole has everything you need. This place is big, not Alamodome big large enough to belly up to the bar, or dance like a fool. The sports collection is downright awesome and any place that has an old KFC bucket for a ceiling fan light gets mad props. But wait there’s more… Bucee’s move over because hands down I think this place has the best women’s bathrooms I’ve seen at a bar. Well they have more than 2 stalls so that rocks. Now for more important issues… full service bar, great beer prices and the bartenders are always awesome. Did I mention shuffleboard? Silly me… oh and they have local bands that jam out there(Two Man Front) a must see. On Saturdays, I believe they bring in a dj and lays some beats down. For the busy nights they have two bar areas. WAIT I’M NOTDONE!!! On slow nights after a couple shots it can be a WII throwdown on a big screen. It’s amazing your lack of coordination after 6 beers, however, you can burn some calories and sweat out some alcohol. Downside, this is New Braunfels and coming from SA town make plans to stay nearby and have a DD. Unfortunately, getting back home is never worth the risk, you will be driving through New Braunfels, Schertz, & Selma. So head down the road and look for the Sprint arrow pointing the way towards the Watering Hole Saloon and say hi to Monkey or Joey.

This place is like a hidden treasure! We used to drive by the sign all the time and on Sunday afternoon; found a place that was open to have a beer. There is a plethora of really cool memorabilia on the walls and celings. Jennifer was about the sweetest bartender we’ve ever had and I can’t wait to go back for the Saturday night crowd! Give it a try!
