I picked up the caprese panini before work today and was very pleased! I can’t wait to go back and try something else. The man up from was very friendly and nice.

Great little spot! My wife and I had a quick lunch here the other day. The sandwiches were made to order and are not overstuffed or messy. Be prepared to take 5 minutes to look over there menu board there is something for everyone here. I had the chicken cutlet sandwich and my wife had a wrap both were very good. The seating is good your not on top of other tables and can have a conversation with out the table next to you wing able to hear every word. I will be coming back!

One of the best breakfast sandwiches I have ever had. Homemade croissants, great atmosphere and truly one of New Britain’s hidden gems. I had the special which as was sausage egg and cheese on a homemade croissants which came with coffee and it was absolutely delicious. Ended up having seconds. Highly recommended. Great menu for lunch as well. Definitely worth the trip into town. The owner also does catering and did I mention that President Obama ate here when he visited New Britain a few years ago? I’ll be back!

Top notch. Stopped in here before a hearing and was greeted by the owner who not only made us a fabulous BLT wrap and latte, but also chatted me up about knife sharpening. That wasn’t sarcasm … I’m actually interested in this topic. Great place, will come again.

Such a lovely, hidden gem! My boyfriend has been wanting to go here for a while, its been on our radar but everytime we would want to go for breakfast or lunch we’d forget about it. Finally, today was the day, and my only regret is that we didn’t go SOONER! Its an adorable little café, with a great selection of breakfast and lunch options. We went for lunch. There are great vegetarian options for those who are like me! There were three, yes, THREE different kinds of grilled cheeses… and c’mon, who doesn’t love grilled cheese??! It was almost impossible to decide, but I went with one on focciata bread, with a truffle cheese and fresh tomatoes. It was DELICIOUS! I also paired it with their roasted red pepper soup. It was even better than a traditional grilled cheese and tomato soup combo. scratch the tomato soup, go with roasted red pepper! JD got their special of the day, it was a chicken wrap with a side of soup, he chose the french onion. He raved they were both fantastic. The gentleman at the counter, an older gentleman, was so incredibly welcoming and friendly. We had a great conversation with him before we left. You can tell he is super passionate about his business. The café is super clean and has great tables and a small bar against the window for additional seating, I definitely recommend dining in! I can’t wait to come back for breakfast and to try more options for lunch. I highly recommend coming here! Its it a quaint spot in New Britain. There’s parking right outside, not too expensive to park on the New Britain streets anyways. Come here and you will love it!!!

I ordered a breaded chicken cutlet sandwich with cheese, LTM and hot peppers. I was very disappointed. The small sub roll was not fresh, it was very dried out, almost crumbly. The chicken cutlet was thin and barely covered the roll which caused you to have some bites of just bread. FYI: the hot peppers are banana peppers. The cheese was placed in the sandwich like and after thought, unmelted. Not a quality sandwich in my opinion. I also bought a bag of chips and a Snapple with this lunch. Total cost was $ 12.50. For that kind of money, I expect higher quality and the meal to be fulfilling. Unfortunately I left the place still hungry. I don’t think I will go back…

Excellent pastries made on site and good coffee for a reasonable price. Owner will not accept tips. He is a stand up businessman who conducts his business the old fashioned way. Highly reccommend.

Just finished eating the breakfast wrap. Two words egg beaters. Gross. Great customer service but the quality of the food is lacking.

This place is great. The owner is very personable. Food is fast, delicious and not full of unpronounceable ingredients. My only complaint is that it’s not closer to Maryland so I can go more often.

Ate here three times. Lunch twice and breakfast once. Went there the first time after I heard that President Obama ate here at a recent visit to New Britain. The owner/chef very excited that the President selected his restaurant. I understand that the owner refused to take any payment for lunch served to President Obama and his party. At both lunches, I ordered the spicy Korean BBG sandwich. Outstanding. At my breakfast, I ordered an egg white cheese omelet. It was good. You order at the counter, pay your bill and then pick a table. Your food will be brought to you. Prices are reasonable. Lots of repeat business Owner is very pleasant and interesting. He collects the payment and controls the cash register Now the bad points. Have to pay for parking on city streets or parking lot. Add extra dollar to your costs. Restaurant is located down town New Britain, across from the Court house. Soda is sold in cans. I assume that there are no free refills. I asked for a glass of water. Owner poured the water from a pitcher he had near his cash register. Pitcher did not seem to have any ice. Water was not cool. TRAVELKAL

I try to have lunch here once a week. I drive there from West Hartford, the home of many good restaurants. The food is delicious. I couldn’t figure out why the food was so good in a location like this until I talked with the owner/chef. He was executive chef at the Copper Beach Inn in its heyday. All of the food is made from scratch. The soups are delicious. I love the Korean barbecue sandwich. They also have crepes which I haven’t tried yet. They get their breads from Arthur Ave. in New York. I called one Sat. morn to see if they were were open. I was told that they were closed on Saturdays and they were making pâté brisee for the week ahead. Really now. How many small restaurants make their desserts from scratch?

The food is pretty good & especially the turkey chili soup my favorite of all if I was to be a little critical the only issue I have there prices could come down some. I think for the area & I realize they cater to Corporate to certain degree. The lunch specials are a bit much compared to other restaurants in the area. I would say the business owner needs to consider reevaluating the prices. I paid 10.00 for a small cup of soup &BLT that’s a bit much for lunch special. I would hate to see customer move there business elsewhere due to the high prices over all the service is good. I just needed to voice my concern but I wish them the very best. Bonita

Joined Unilocal to write this review simply because I’ve reached my last straw of local businesses that give«regulars» special treatment while being dismissive to newcomers. Came in for lunch during the week with a friend and we were greeted by blank stares and we felt like we were interrupting their conversations with other customers. While they continued talking with other customers, we ordered and I was feeling very uncomfortable at this point. As for the food: it was ok. My buddy and I ordered the pulled pork. It was bland but palatable. Definitely wouldn’t suggest ordering something like that at a café but that was probably my «rookie» mistake. I wouldn’t go back for the food… but considering the location of the restaurant, it isn’t horrible. However, if you’re in the area, you’re better off driving a few more minutes to west hartford where you will find an abundance of great cafes/restaurants. Again, it’s frustrating to go into a business and feel as if you are not good enough to be in there. Perhaps you should carry a briefcase or wear a suit to be treated with a little more respect. A smile, as they gave their friends, would have been nice.

Just visited this place for the first time(Sunday brunch time) and was really impressed. The hostess was away when I came in but the chef came right over to grab my order. I got the Korean BBQ sandwich(sounded good and of course the president thing) and I liked it. Meat was tender and was sweet but not overly so. The little bit of cilantro in it reminded me of a Bahn Mi(in a good way). The hostess gave me a mini scone to try before my order came out and I liked it as well, despite not usually being into scones(she explained that the process for triangle-shaped scones tends to make them tougher). I don’t know what happened with the 1-star reviewer below but I have to think there’s more to it than what they said. Everyone seemed super-friendly and down to earth to me(they genuinely seemed curious if I liked the food). I would have stayed longer except that it was closing time…

If I could give it a 0 I would! My fiancé and I went in on a Friday afternoon for some lunch. We ordered a coffee and a tea and asked for the wifi password and we just were sitting and chatting and having a nice time. After peeking at the menu, we decided it was time to order. I was STARVING and there were no workers to be found! I ate a granola bar from out of my purse while my fiancé went to go buy us some food. Out of nowhere, the manager came over and told us to leave because we «only bought drinks» and we «used his wifi.» We thought he was joking but he escorted us out the door INFRONTOFALLTHECUSTOMERS! !!! SORUDEANDUNCOMFORTABLE. Apparently I shouldn’t have chewed on a granola bar but I couldn’t take the growling much longer. Besides, where were the workers!!! This has never happened to me and I will never go back.

Come in early here. Around 9am and the owner will have a fresh batch of warm apple turnovers waiting to be devoured. Absolutely delicious. Warm and buttery crust and a sweet but not overly sweet filling. The breakfast crêpe with ham and egg is equally delightful.

Incredible soups and sandwiches, as well as breakfast all day. The spicy Korean BBQ steak sandwich was made famous by president Obama when he ate here in March 2014.

I am so happy this little place opened downtown. Apparently, the chef is an accomplished French chef, and he is serving the most delicious and interesting sandwiches I’ve ever had. I can’t think of a way to describe this food without sounding ridiculous, but… I swooned at the bulgogi sandwich(Korean barbecue). I went back the next day, and the southwest chicken sandwich is heavenly. I tried daily soups twice – very good – as were the the house-made cookies! The lady at the front counter(chef’s wife?) is super friendly too!
