Best burger in the area. You couldn’t pay me to go eat at redamaks after having a burger from Caseys. I’ve been here several times and I also enjoy a Saturday night when they have a live band.

First time visit since new owners took over and will definitely be our last! Mediocre food and over-priced! Our bill came to $ 45 before the tip and that was for one Caesar salad, one blackened blue burger and one seafood pasta… and we had water. The salad was chopped up romaine and heavily over-dressed with bottled dressing and packaged croutons… no fresh parmesan! The burger came with frozen french fries and only lettuce, tomato and pickle… no other condiments. The waitress suggested to add salmon to the seafood pasta, but did not say it would be $ 26! No presentation whatsoever… a small plate of pasta, again over-sauced with heavy alfredo and only small pieces of salmon, a few scallops and shrimp, no garnish, nothing! Nothing was freshly made… a real disappointment! We enjoy New Buffalo as a change from the restaurants in South Bend, but will dine elsewhere in town!

D and I originally made plans to meet another couple at local NB fave Stray Dog for a quick lunch before I headed out to Detroit for the holiday. But due to circumstances beyond their control, the other couple couldn’t make it. The weather was somewhat decent(thanks to El Nino) so we walked around the small downtown area. Along the way we saw the sign for Casey’s. From the window it looked to be a good crowd inside. We decided to be adventurous and check it out. There is a nice long bar against one wall of the restaurant and tables on the other side. We were directed to the back of the restaurant(or other front depending on which side of the street you enter from). Our server was a nice young gentleman who overall gave great service to us as well as several of the tables surrounding us. For an appetizer we ordered the Boom Boom Shrimp. The presentation was somewhat interesting. The shrimp was presented in a «Chinese-food take out» container with the shrimp spilling out on the plate with tartar sauce on either side of the container. It had a bit of a kick but not too hot so even D(who hates spicy food) could enjoy it. For the main entrees I ordered Fish Tacos while D ordered a basic hamburger with fries. The tilapia was fried and chopped into diced pieces which again is different from what I’ve typically seen. It had mango salsa though I was hoping the salsa would be a little more saucy. I added cracked pepper and some provided sour cream to give it a boost of flavor. D enjoyed his burger. After paying for my bill D noted that several patrons were staring at me as we walked out. It’s like I was a local celebrity. I have no idea why(*sarcasm*). I do like Stray Dog a little better than Casey’s but Casey’s won us over just enough for us to occasionally give them a visit. Woo hoo… Review #100 of Casey’s.

What a great Caesar Salad! I’m spending the weekend in Harbor Country(flying Solo this time) and happened to visit an old watering hole Casey’s. Looking for something to compensate for the overwhelming diet of the last few days, I chose a Chicken Caesar Salad. It was fixed to perfection. Casey’s was at one time a spot to see and be seen. While that aspect has been tempered, the ambience provides for the proper comfort zone.

Can’t say too much good about this place. The bar is in a pretty old building so some of the architecture inside was interesting. Service was not bad. Way too may TVs all over the place that were distracting. Food was below average all around. The fried spring roll appetizer was not appealing. Entrees included vegetarian pasta, fried perch, an Asian salad and a beef sandwich. Nothing was memorable or tasty. The biggest drawback for me was their beer selection on tap. Although they probably had close to 20 beers on tap the vast majority were Michigan craft beers. Some people may think craft beer means better beer but I’m not one of those people. A selection of some German, Belgian or Austrian beers on tap would be nice but bars in Michigan don’t seem to take this approach.

Absolutely the worst service! Slow with the food then nothing was right. My mom liked her salad, but how hard is salad? Never offered refills and when another server even bumped into me I was seated at my table) and didn’t acknowledge it much less apologize. I could go on, but…

2 stars for the fact that the crab cakes were really good. Pulled pork mac n cheese: that was the mushiest pulled pork ever. Side of green beans sauteed in butter” were uncooked and cold on the inside. Beverages ordered: a coke and two waters. Never got the waters refilled. Coke refill came after we’d already eaten(what we could). Service? What service. Appetizer plate sat on the edge of the table for entirely too long. Our server didn’t even pick it up, another one did. Didn’t ask how the food was til we were ready for the check. No refills, no nothin’. Our server was too busy chatting up the table next to us. Nice one. Totally rare for me, but this time, after this experience, I felt completely justified in leaving no tip. And we won’t be back.

My husband and I spend quite a bit of time in New Buffalo and I love the ambience of Casey’s. Great old school bar, live music on the weekend and often a local crowd. Recently they opened up a second bar in the back off of their beer garden. The 2nd bar has a nice feel as well and multiple tv’s for sports. Food can be hit or miss. The flatbread needs work, the Boom Boom shrimp is good. My major issue with this place, and unfortunately it a long-standing one, is the service. I have never been to a place where there is less interest and/or enthusiasm to wait on you. The staff either ignores you, is completely indifferent or makes you wait so incredibly long that you have turned into a pile of bleached bones. It’s sad really. I love this place. The Stray Dog is ridiculously touristy and over priced This place feels much more local. If I am the owner, I clean house with my staff and find some people who actually want to work.

As I sit here at Stray Dog, we can say, whole heartedly, we will NOT patronize this establishment! Entering, we were invited to the«back bar» to experience the«twinkling lights»! Well, the only twinkle in the back bar was that of left over/drunk patrons and an EXTREMELY dismissive bar staff! Specifically, a brunette curly haired bartender that did not greet and/or meet my husband and I. We quickly left and are now sitting on the rooftop of Stray Dog! I highly recommend those reading this to heed the advise of others and MOVEALONG! Good luck, curly haired, brunette, bartender! Season’s ending soon!

average american restaurant located on the main tourist area of downtown new buffalo Michigan and walking distance to the beach… serving pretty good flatbreads(various types)…the seating inside is tight and limited… the outdoor backyard seating is good… friendly staff… the entrees are a bit on the expensive side, so i would recommend the burgers(especially the cowboy burger served with caramelized onions)…sorry but no cowgirls on the menu…

Went there last night hoping to have a fast dinner at the bar. Order buffalo wings. Wings were good but took over 30 minutes to receive them after ordering. Also only had one beer while there for over 45 mins. Bartender Kyle kept ignoring us, too busy filling in drink orders but kept walking past us and we couldn’t get his attention to order another beer. Basically had wings and only one beer in over 45 minutes. Other Customers also complaining about service. We decided to go somewhere else for dinner and When we finally were able to ask for our check, we told him service was bad, but not his fault since he needed help behind the bar, he got mad at us and complain that he was filling in for someone and«basically accused us of treating him like shit» his words. Wow we were surprised since we were being honest when asked how everything was. Don’t think we’ll return.

The food was great… Got the boom boom shrimp as an app, and it was delish, but spicy. I got the scallop pasta and my hubby got the seafood Alfredo. Both were top notch, but I actually did prefer the flavor of the Alfredo and I’m not an Alfredo fan. My only complaint is that the air conditioning was out, so it was extremely warm, as it was a very humid day! Our server was super friendly and helpful and very upbeat and even gave us suggestions for other local spots to dine. I would definitely go here again.

We stopped in Sunday night as the last stop on our Bachelorette party weekend. We knew we wanted to sit out back so we entered the restaurant and made our way out. The restaurant was pretty dead and smelled sort of weird. The bathrooms were very gross and someone in our group talked to a manager about cleaning them, but we did not check back to see if it was taken care of. Anyway, they were really accommodating for us on the patio. as soon as there was a big enough table we were seated and a waitress came over. We needed some more time to decide on drinks and then she never came back. We waited probably over 25 minutes and then flagged someone else down and asked them to send our waitress back. Service was decent but because she took so long between visits, our party ended up going to the bar themselves most of the time. Drinks were good, they were able to make a few things that we asked about. Separate tabs was a nice touch also. They played great music and had nice lights strung up all around the patio. It was probably one of our favorite stops and I would definitely go back.

Since they changed owners, I’m still on the bubble about the menu. The last time we had dinner was for a Stanley Cup playoff game. I had the Italian Rib Melt and my wife had the Casey’s burger. Both were good but I still like the Roasted Chicken on the old menu(but that’s what the previous owners were noted for). We still make this a frequent stop when we’re in town especially for drinks at the outdoor bar. Can’t wait ’til the new one is done. We’ll see you again soon.
