Delicious pastries that cost an arm and a leg made by an extremely kind local family(read deferential and willing to graciously put up with a lot of crap.) Great for New Canaan people watching. There is almost always a guy in there wearing an actual ascot. If you listen to the interactions at the counter you gain great respect for the owners who can soothe the ruffled feathers of the Botox-and-blonde-bob crowd in the most dramatic of late-catered-cake situations. Have fun and keep your pinkies up!

Gingerbitz is home away from home in New Canaan. Beautiful décor and excellent food. It is a family run business and once you walk in there you feel like you are embraced by family. Oh, if only my home were decorated like Gingerbitz. Favorites are the Waldorf salad, crab cake salad and the apple tarts. Great selection of teas. My only complaint – they are not open for dinner or Sundays!

While I have only been here once for the Gingerbitz cookies(which made a great gift), the experience was great! There is beautiful décor with tasty desserts and really kind owners behind the counter. I stopped by the other day right as the shop was closing, and they stayed open for me and a few other customers.

So nice inside, worth a trip in just for that! Black forest ham with brie sandwich was an over-expensive let down. Ham was too salty and didn’t taste of good quality like expected and same with the brie. The worst part was the stale/too hard baguette it was on. Asked for a delicious looking ginger bread man but the guy forgot it, so didn’t get to try it. I’m guessing stick to the baked goods here?

We stopped in for a coffee and stayed to try the key lime pie and carrot cake which was fantastic. Amazing taste and texture. Coffee was outstanding. The owners are very friendly and have a passion for the business. I can’t wait to try a sandwich here. I highly recommend a visit.
