I’m so disappointed in Locali. Firstly they have a ridiculously antiquated system of taking reservations only on the day of the reservation. Secondly, although we live in New Canaan and have been loyal customers to them, they often bump our reservations or make us wait for a table. Today was particularly irritating to me. Yesterday I called and asked for an important group reservation I had for 6:30 today. They told me to call back at 11:30. I did exactly at 11:30 and they told me that at 11:28 they took a reservation and now did not have room for my group!!! WTH?!? I asked how this could have happened and he told me that I SHOULD have called at 11 am!!! I cannot tell you how infuriating this is to me. We are going to Sole instead. Better pizza, better service and they take advance reservations. AND they treat customers with respect. Good bye And good luck Locali.

I agree with the others that say this place has very little customer loyalty. The pizza’s pretty good but not good enough to deal with a chef and sometimes others who are a nightmare. Won’t be going back.

Super tight. Chill music, good lighting, artisanal/​authentic pizza, attentive but relaxed staff. Nice small. DOPE.

This place is so good sometimes and a little off at times. 3 out of 5 times I’ve come, I’ve been very happy with the food. A few times the pizza was burned on the crust and raw in the middle. Kind of sad because I hardly ever eat pizza. So when I do eat it, I really look forward to it. All of the salads and sides are always delicious and unique though.

I so so want to give Locali a 5 based on the food. But as a regular since their opening and even touring the location as their custom pizza oven was installed, I feel like the service doesn’t match my loyalty and patronage. We’ve seen them through menu changes, removing the wine soda which was such a plus for me when I was pregnant, and management shifts and still come back expecting service at a decent level and it does not deliver. Sadly although the food is great we will likely take some of the other recommendations made for similar style food in the area. I will say the arugula salad, mushroom, and clam pizza are life changing and will miss them on my quest to be wined and dined.

Really good pizza. The dough is just now I like it and the cheeses, sauces and everything else is right on point. I’d highly recommend the margarita, while not as exciting as other things on the menu, it’s really as solid as pizza gets. Good prices and a decent wine selection too.
Can’t wait to go back.

What a fun little spot for lunch! I shared a small pizza and the artichoke appetizer with a friend and it was more than enough. The owner and his staff were very cordial and willingly answered our many questions about the menu and expertly provided advice for what to order – and we were certainly not disappointed. Our crispy artichokes were delicious (wow, that aioli) and the perfect size to start off the meal. We customized The Charred House pizza by adding arugula, truffles and prosciutto. Definitely the freshest artisanal pizza in New Canaan. Finally, I love what they’ve done with the décor inside the restaurant – so quaint and such a better layout than the previous restaurant.

I LOVE this place. I went for the first time last week with my boyfriend, who has been ordering lunch for them at least once if not twice a week at his job. We arrived around 6PM and got a table outside, no problem. We both ordered the Sangria– I got the red and he got the white. Both were absolutely delicious. About 15 minutes later our pizzas came out. He got the margherita and I got the pretty «kale» leopard. I’ve never had better thin crust pizza. It oozes with flavor, and the menu is so extensive that I can’t wait to go back and try everything else! Adrian was our server and he checked in at all the right moments and was super knowledgable about the menu. I would HIGHLY recommend this to everyone.

We went for lunch and had the zucchini fries, chopped chopped salad and the godfather pizza. It was so amazing one of the best pizzas I’ve had in a long time. The dough was perfect. The service staff we’re very nice. The only negative is that it took along time to get our food, but that wouldn’t stop me from going back. Definitely try it you won’t be disappointed.

The calamari, rigatoni bolognese, and chopped chopped salad are IMPECCABLE. This restaurant has a great atmosphere and try to sit outside if you can. It’s hip and the food is very good!

Another outstanding dinner at Locali. The fried calamari might be the best I have ever tasted. The exterior was crisp and included a few secret ingredients to elevate the taste while the interior was buttery from its quick fry. We also shared the new stone fruit, spiny pear and tomato salad which was a tribute to the flavors of the season. The fruits were sweet and it was the first time I spiny pear was on my plate, it was delicious and what a great combo with the other fruits and the tomatoes. The next share appetizer was the fried Zucchi, which were baby-​sized, perfectly crispy and soft and moist throughout. It was a tough choice for our pies, and we chose the Queen Margherita and the French Border. The first was deliciously simple with great San Marzano sauce, Mozzarella and basil. The French Border included Fior di Latte, Brie, topped with Brie and Arugula. It was outstanding with the peppery arugula, sweet mozzarella, and creamy brie. It was outstanding. And let’s not forget the crust at Locali is one of the best in Fairfield County. Another great dinner.

Went here after glass house tour. Wood oven Pizza was great — chewy, bubbled crust. Nice salad too. Friendly service. Was just what we were looking for.

It comes in more of a bowl then a flat dish. On top is the fiori di latte, garlic and clams. Underneath a perfectly charred crust.
But wait there’s more; You rip out a slice, and in the bowl is a creamy clam sauce. Worried, but no the crust isn’t soggy,
A few big bite’s and now it’s time to dunk, into the sauce, can’t stop, there’s no turning back.
They call it the Clam Pie Brooklyn style, I just call it,
Bobby g style…

Fantastic pizza and small plates. We couldn’t decide what to get so we ordered the cauliflower small plate, which was tasty and unique, the asparagus plate, which was rich and flavorful — also unique and the roasted crispy potatoes, which were flat out amazing. For pizza, we ordered the New Englander pizza (mushroom) and clam pizza. Both were super, cooked perfectly, chewy and rich. Next time I’ll try a lighter salad with the pizza because by the end I was too full to enjoy (we took home leftovers).
The vibe is laid back and friendly. Wait staff was patient and lovely. It seems like a great date night place. I went for a girl’s lunch and will be back soon.

Service is great but there isn’t too much room to sit. The clam pizza was phenomenal but something as simple as the sausage pizza was bland. The crispy calamari was also delicious and light ! I would deff recommend this resturant to family and friends who are looking for a trendy pizza place to relax!

I have to say, the location, décor and ambiance are actually very nice.
The food. A bit bland. I won’t say this was the worst pizza ever, but in my search for close to authentic Neapolitan style pizza, I would recommend two other places:
Ribalta, in NYC and Brick & Wood in Fairfield.
I truly wanted to like Locali more, but it was only ever just mediocre. Funny thing is that I would give it another try. Maybe bump this review up to 4. But never anything more. They just aren’t THAT good.
Date nite, it’s almost a must. Family nite, do Betuccis. Pizza is almost on par but more space. Cool nite out with the dudes or girls, yes. Nice looking atmosphere, although VERY snug.
Def give it a shot. To be fair, it’s not bad at all.

In NYC we’re spoilt for choices of great Italian, but once you get out of town, there’s few that rate.
Locali has some great standards, but falls short of being excellent. I’ve never had a bad meal, but they don’t have a huge range of choices. Try the Spaghetti Bolognese and the Calamari though

Best thing about this place is outside seating. It’s great to sit outside on a nice day. There aren’t that many restaurants in New Canaan offer outside seating.
I ordered 2 small plates; meatballs and Shishito peppers. There were 3 big chicken meatballs, seasoning was slightly lacking. They were good, but not amazing. Peppers were interesting. Taste good for a first few bites, but then became slightly greasy. Both plates were just mediocre for me.
If you are looking for a place to sit outside to mingle and just want something to munch on, then this is a good place for you.

OK, so the last few times I went to Locali, I dined in. I would say that this is the best way to go with this restaurant. I don’t think their pizza travels too well!
I love the new seasonal menu, the fried peppers, the pizzas, I love it all! The service is excellent too. If I had one complaint it would be MORE CHEESE PLEASE. Otherwise, its perfect!

Terribly greasy and all-​around awful meal here… The raved about brussels sprouts dish, especially, drenched in oil. Could not even finish the meal and that just about never happens!
