Great food every time. Friendly staff and nice atmosphere. The sauce is delicious and I’ve tried a variety of items and always leave satisfied.

It’s just not that good. Bathrooms are dirty too. Staff didn’t seem to know what was going on either and the food was meh.

I was pleased with the food here. The bread that was brought out seemed store bought and not fresh. My girlfriends dish was covered in an inch of olive oil and butter. The dish itself had good flavors. My dish was good, I’d probably order it again. The portions are large and everyone had left overs. Presentation was a bit shabby but the food made up for it. Wait staff is kind and helpful. Is this place 100% Italian no, but for an American Italian restaurant it was good. The design and décor was light and airy, great atmosphere.

Went there for lunch and got the Italian cheese steak sandwich. I asked the waiter if I could replace the chips with fries and he said they do not do that. The steak sandwich came with chips and macaroni salad. I told the waiter to give me a side of fries and I’d pay the $ 2 for them. When I received my sandwich I was first astonished how tiny it was for about $ 9, seriously, I’m guessing it was a 3 inch sub. then I seen about 6 – 10 French fries in my plate, it was actually comical. then I sat there and thought, where’s my chips and macaroni salad? I figured maybe out of courtesy they swapped the chips and macaroni salad with fries. I get my tab and its $ 11. I asked the waiter(who was very annoyed btw) why i didn’t get my macaroni salad and chips. He stated to me «because you got fries». I said«so let me get this straight. my $ 93inch sub comes with chips and macaroni doesn’t it?» The waiter said«yes» I said«you refused to swap those out with fries, so I paid an addition $ 2 for fries as a side right?» the waiter said«yes» I said«so I’m to get macaroni salad and chips along with my side of fries, right?» the waiter says«well we really don’t give you chips and macaroni when you order fries». I’m at a loss for words here. so I got the menu, fries are clearly listed as a side for $ 2.so basically they want to steal from their customers. They won’t swap out sides but they’ll sure the hell charge you for a side and take other sides away that you already paid for. Be careful! Also the sandwich SUCKED! if you look at my review history it’s pretty much all positive, this was a terrible experience and I truly felt ripped off.

I live in Pittsburgh but every time I’m even near new castle my wife makes me stop here. I have to admit I fought hard to stay out of new castle having grown up there but this restaurant keeps me coming back. The service is above average and the food is amazing. The kids meals are even prepared exceptionally. ***sigh*** I guess you can take the kid out of new castle but you can’t take the new castle outta the kid…

The«House Burger» is outstanding. Prosciutto and a fried egg on it makes it great. Alexis the bartender is the best!

I was in town for a visit and went with friends to 2 Tomatoes for dinner. For a party of 8, we were seated quickly and the restaurant was rather busy for a week night. They had a good wine list and a varied menu. The décor is modern and clean. I had the chicken marsala, with alfredo pasta and it was great. The portion was large(leftover for lunch the next day!) and the chicken breasts were thick(not over pounded) and flavorful. I started with wedding soup, which was great. The service was a little slow, which is why I did not list it as five stars. Nothing horrible, but our waitress could have been more attentive.

The owner is extremely rude. We rented his restaurant for an event, everything that we agreed upon and paid for was not provided. The owner continually belittled his employees and was unprofessional to his customers.

Visited on a Friday night. Parking lot was packed but there was plenty of seating available inside. This was my first visit. Upon entering, I noticed that the restaurant was very clean and modern inside. We were greeted promptly and seated quickly. Our food was served at a very comfortable pace. If you are in a big hurry, you might want to go elsewhere… We were not in a hurry, and I found it very relaxing. Our appetizers and food were served hot and tasted very fresh… My bill for two adults was $ 38 including an appetizer… so I thought their prices were more than fair… Overall, I thought everything was very tasty, and I will look forward to going back…

New Castle Pa was a stopover on our way home from vacation. We checked in to our hotel around Dinner time. We had never been to New Castle, the only restaurants near our hotel were the usual chains, nothing appealing. A Unilocal search later, we called for reservations. We set the GPS and headed out. First the negative. As we drove down the street that the restaurant is on we almost turned back. It took us through a pretty run down part of town. We chose to continue and things improved to the point that we had no concerns. We were welcomed warmly and sincerely by the hostess. She determined that we were from out of town. Our waitress(Breeze?) was quite young. I wasn’t expecting much in terms of service. We were very pleasantly surprised, she was very friendly yet professional. My wife had the flights of wine, something that we don’t get in Canada. She loved it. We had the Caprese Tower and the Antipasto as appetizers. Both were excellent. My wife chose the Penne with Vodka sauce, I had the Filet with Hot Peppers on Gnochetelli. Mine was very good, the steak was beautifully cooked. I tried some of my wife’s and it was outstanding. Our little guy enjoyed his spaghetti and Meatball. The Hostess came over to ask how everything was. My wife, who is usually quite reserved, raved about her meal. The hostess, who I am pretty sure was one of the owners, was very appreciative and said that they are very proud of their recipes and strive to make almost everything from Scratch. My wife is already planning a girl’s weekend to nearby Grove City for some ‘Retail Therapy so that she can get back to 2 Tomato.

I’ve known the owners for a very long time. I just had the chance to go back recently, and was blown away at how great their menu is! The wine selection was great, too! I had a chicken dish«caprese» style with pasta. I was SO full but I had to finish every last bite. I know you’re probably thinking this review is biased, but seriously, the food is amazing, with even better service. Do yourself a favor and go try it out!

…tried this place 3 times and didn’t enjoy it either time. After the last time I won’t go back again. Plus I have some friend that were treated incredibly rude by them. If you ordered a filet mignonette ordered medium… would you expect it to come out butterflied in 3 thin cuts instead of one thick piece? Well, without any kind of warning they ruined the cut of meat and then expected(demanded) payment for this. They said it looked like an old shoe sole that was falling apart. Most restaurants would try to at least offer a gift card, knock it off the check, offer it to be replaced with another entrée or something else… not here they threaten police involvement/law suits if payment for a terrible cooked meal is not made.

Was gonna go 3 ½ stars on this one, but obviously, you can’t do that. A good meal, decent ambiance, a viable wine list — all of which I understand are something of an anomaly for the immediate region. I had the filet and scampi, both of which were good — neither of which was amazing. My wife had pasta which I actually found to be a little less inspiring than the beef. Seems we had lingered a bit too long at a table that was booked for a second sitting, and the hostess(owner?) offered us a spot in the bar and a free drink if we were willing to relocate. We vacated and turned down what I thought to be a generous offer and a pretty classy way to solve a problem. Wasn’t quite ready to leave, but appreciated the counter offer. Would go again if I were in the area as the options seem limited, but it makes me glad I live in a region with a few more choices!

among the better italian restaurants in the new castle area. it’s a consistent favorite of mine and of my family. +1 for having some semblance of class(rare for the local area) +1 for above average red sauce(this is my gauge for how good an italian restaurant is) +1 for having an owner who is present often, if not always +1 for good atmosphere. +1 for above-average service(more professional than the local average) +1 for great salads, albeit a bit small. +1 for serving dishes made to order(not on the menu). my favorite dish here is the gnoccetelli sorrentina. recommended. i will return. my most recent experience was actually a 3-star experience: on mother’s day(and other holidays, as i understand it), the menu selection is cut in half, and entrées are 50% more expensive. my proportions were smaller than usual, and my food wasn’t as hot as i expect. aside from this one instance, i’ve only had 4-star experiences here.

Our first time there but went with others who go there alot. Found nothing negative at all, the food was excellent and the service was top notch. There was seven of us and six different meals. All were very good. Our waitress Leandra couldn’t have been better. Very friendly and pleasant and couldn’t do enough for us. The Smelts melted in your mouth and the Taramiso(SP ?) was the best I ever had. One of our favorites now.

Five of us walked in prime time last Sat. night. They were busy and the pleasant hostess asked if we had reservations. Nope, but she said she could take care of us shortly. 5 minutes later we were at a nice round table with appetizers and drinks ordered. Our waitress was equally pleasant(all staff were wearing Steeler jerseys) and efficiently took our orders. Food came in an orderly and well paced fashion. Mediterranean salmon was beautifully presented and delicious. My veal parm was real and real good. The others had pasta offerings and we all took something home. This was only our second time at 2 Tomato, and we are adding it to our list to frequent more often.

Saying 2 Tomato is just a pizza joint is like saying Elvis was an «OK» singer. They do have great brick oven pizza but this place has fabulous Italian food. I consider it to be one of the finest restaurants in the tri state are. I’m not even related, just like good food!
