This place is a horror show. You’re on camera 100% of the time, which they remind you of constantly by putting the CCTV screens in your face just like a check-cashing place. You may be watched the entire time you’re there, but not a single person in an orange apron is going to ask if you need anything. They’re content to willfully ignore most customers as they chat amongst themselves at the ends of the aisles. I tried to pay for my $ 200+ worth of bits and drivers, sockets and keys, which took me over an hour to get together because I was never asked if I needed help and when I finally asked, he didn’t have a clue what I was talking about. I tried to use the self checkout; the attendant canceled my order twice after I’d checked about half of the little bits. Extenders. Sockets. LOTS of little items. When she told me to start again for the THIRD time, I walked out. Never again.

I am a huge Home Depot fan. I DIY with the best of ‘em and consider spending hours in the orange mecca better therapy than a day at the spa. The New Castle location, however… No. By far, the worst Home Depot I’ve ever been to. Difficult to find things, priced noticeably higher than other locations, products out of stock, missing employees. Came to buy mulch, five gray paving stones(whoops! Under-estimated earlier in the day!), and paper lawn leaf bags. Found the higher priced, identical pavers as to what I purchased that morning at another local HD here on a dirty, dirty shelf. Sadly, they were no longer gray, but a rusty gray-brown. Sigh. Fine. It’s only five; I can mix them in with the rest and who will know? Right? The mulch: couldn’t find. Asked a grass seed vendor, as there were zero associates to be found. He said they were out of mulch. Out. As in none. Not just the variety that I wanted, but none. Sigh. Looked around for leaf bags. Zilch. Happened to notice the weedwhacker I purchased at the earlier HD. This location had it for $ 10 more. Why? Back to garden center to pay for the five pavers. Finally found an associate at the checkout. I asked about the leaf bags. She told me they were all the way across the store… at self-checkout. No thanks. That’s the last $ 3.05 I will be spending there. Thankfully, we live in a Depot-rich land. Choose wisely.

Your typical Home Depot. I just wish they had chairs for the ladies to sit in like they do for the guys when they go shopping with their ladies at Nordstrom! Everyone is really nice and helpful at this Home Depot.

Update: We had to go on Saturday to decide on custom entry and storm doors. Kimberley, again, in Millwork was a champ. She was helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly. We got our information and felt confident in the choices we made based on her expertise. Thanks, Home Depot.

This is a typical mega hardware store Home Depot. If there is a home improvement tool or supply that you can’t find here, you probably couldn’t find it anywhere else either. The store can be hard to navigate so I’ve had to ask the store staff for specific items a couple of times but generally, I’ve not had too much of a problem finding what I need. Parking is ample. It is in a big strip mall off US-13 and I’ve never seen the parking lot more than about half full.
