La Terrazza

Just a note of thanks to John and the awesome crew for another wonderful family event! We celebrated our daughter’s 8^th grade graduation — she had her choice of where to go — she said Mom — we’re going to La Terrazza — really! Staff, as always, was attentive and lovely, food was so good — I want the short ribs recipe!!! It was so amazing that my sister in law got an order to go for herself for tomorrow, John you are going to have to give up that recipe!!! Thank you for everything — as always you make a special event that much better!

Based upon its closeness to home and the quality of the food and service, this is one of my favorite places in Rockland County. I noticed another review that spoke of its being uneven in quality. I’ve never experienced that. To me, the food is consistently good; the menu is varied; the service is always polite, friendly, and efficient, and the prices are very reasonable.
My only caveat regarding this place is that they have become a very popular *catering venue. Therefore, you will want to check on what parties are booked for the night you wish to dine there because it can get noisy when there is a celebration going on near where you are trying to have a comfortable dinner. But aside from this one bit of advice, I can confidently say that La Terrazza is certainly worth a try if you’ve never been there before as well as being a place that is worthy of many return visits.
*Incidentally, we’ve had catered parties there too. They do an exceptional job

Food is okay. My husbands steak was huge and tasty, the pasta was very tasty. Service was incredibly horrible.

Not a big fan, food average at best, seems unorganized and loud. Did not get a welcoming feeling there.

I am a frequenter of this restaurant for over 10 years. The service and ambiance wavers depending on which owner is overseeing the place.
Tonight, for the last time I ordered take out and it was not even close. Happens frequently. Called bar tender to express my concerns and got an «Oh well». REALLY?
The management in this place is all overthe place. Probably why you willfinf it emty on most weekends.

Ordered a steak — rare. Perfectly prepared and tasted good. Party of 13 (2 children) and the service was excellent. Everyone except one enjoyed their meal, and I sampled the one meal not enjoyed, and I thought it was very good.
Desserts were good too. A lot of sharing so many got to enjoy many different desserts.

The owner could not have been any more rude. My party actually left instead of dining here. They misplaced our reservation and then were exceptionally rude about it. I will not be going back ever

Always loved this place and now I love it even more because they opened an outdoor terrace for warm weather. This family owned restaurant really makes you feel like family. I love their regular menu (try the penne vodka!) but I definitely recommend the specials. They are always amazing and keep bringing us back!

My husband and I had a fantastic dinner at La Terrazza last week. We both loved our dinners, and the dessert was to die for! I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

Kathy is the best bartender, great food great service, owner is so welcoming and nice. Feels like home. Would definitely return! Excellent!

This place feels like home for my family and me. Besides having the best food and service at a reasonable price, the owners really know how to satisfy their clientele and make them feel at home. I have been coming here for years and look forward to each and every dining experience I have. The food is prepared beautifully and served hot and the service is always great. My family has had many special occasions here and each has been handled in a most sensitive way. The owners John and Brett put their heart and soul into making this place a really great place to relax and have great food. We also have had many take out meals here and the same care is put into those meals as well.

My family and I decided to have a large family lunch here just after the holidays to get together and see each other. I believe there was 19 of us in the room off the lobby. We have had family functions here before. We had one waitress taking care of us, which was fine, but she was completely unfriendly, rude and simply awful. You could tell she was mad that we weren’t interested in appetizers, drinks and desserts (we had plans for dessert and there aren’t many drinkers). I ordered the eggplant parm and it was terrible. I couldn’t even eat it, because it tasted freezer burned. My partner had the tortellini carbonara and thankfully his was good because we basically ended up eating his entrée together. You can tell they use bland dried pasta in their dishes, but the bruschetta they provided was good (probably the only highlight of the meal). Other members of the family seemed to enjoy their dishes but we couldn’t get over the rude waitress. The rude waitress even received a 20+ percent tip from the family, even though she didn’t deserve it. I don’t know why they didn’t add the gratuity into our bill for such a large party but they didn’t. We will not be having family functions at this restaurant again. I’m sure you can find better Italian elsewhere with friendlier service in the area.

I stopped by here with my fiancé and 7 other members of her family for dinner this past Friday evening. We had made reservations for 7 PM and were seated at a large round table shortly after. The inside of this restaurant was pretty nice with white table clothes and some Doric columns near the back,
I decided to start off my meal with the buffalo calamari appetizer. This was your normal deep fried calamari but it was tossed in a buffalo sauce and came with a good amount blue cheese as well. Since I love hot sauce and buffalo wings I really enjoyed these with the calamari being cooked nicely, the buffalo sauce being slightly spicy which went perfectly against the pungent blue cheese. For my entrée I decided to go with the tortellini carbonara. It ended up coming with a salad. Whenever our table asked for a vinaigrette we told that the closest they had was a creamy Italian. I personally thought it tasted more like a caesar than anything else but since I love caesar dressing, I was happy with it. Whenever our entrees made it to the table the first thing that i noticed was that the portion size of the tortellini was absolutely huge. The sauce that it was in ended up being a nice tasting cream sauce with some prosciutto in it. Overall the service was pretty good through the night as was all of the food.
The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. I don’t know that it would be my first choice but we did get a lot of food for our money and everything that I had was pretty good.

The food was pretty good, but our waitress was definitely less than pleasant. When we were about to order we said something along the line of, «Take the birthday girl’s order first!» and the waitress didn’t smile, say happy birthday, or anything. She seemed less than enthused. Throughout the meal she seemed super grumpy. I may have given four stars if not for her. The only time she seemed nice was at the end of the meal when she gave us our check and said «Have a wonderful new year everyone!» with a big smile on her face.
About the meal: The drinks were strong and I definitely recommend the buffalo calamari — I never would have thought this would be good OR served at an Italian restaurant, but it was pretty awesome. I liked the crumbled blue cheese on top rather than gallons of blue cheese dressing (which most restaurants serve with buffalo wings).
Each entrée comes with soup or salad and I would definitely recommend the salad because the dressing was very tasty — a mixture of balsamic and mustard I think she said? I’m sure the soup may have been tasty — it was a meatball and escarole on the night we went but nobody at the table went with the soup option so I can’t comment on it.
I’m not a big fan of Italian restaurants in Rockland County — most are just average, and coming from an Italian family, I’d rather go to my mom’s for her Italian food. I think we’re seriously lacking in the good Italian restaurants here in Rockland. La Terrazza was decent. For 6 people, 2 apps, and one entrée and drink each, it came to about $ 50 per person including tap and 18% tip.

Delicious food, bad service. Me and my family came on a Saturday and we’re told that we needed a reservation because they had a big party coming in. We waited a bit to see if any tables opened up. That’s when the BIG PARTY came in. A couple that apparently were «The Party» say down and they finally game us out seats.

A group of ladies took our 90-​year old friend to celebrate a lunch a few weeks ago and we ordered individually off the menu. Although every one of the ladies was pleased with her selection the ones that ordered the Chilean Sea Bass were delighted with it, even though some had never tasted it before! Our waitress was delightful and helpful and helped to make the lunch even more festive.
I suppose I should write a separate review, but many of the local Red Had Ladies’ groups have also eaten here many times. My group is always offered a nice selection and from soup to nuts, everything is always great! And the cost is very reasonable! Can’t speak for the other groups, but I never hear any complaints so all of them must be happy, too.

Have been here many many times to eat dinner and for family events. This place is so plain to me, none of the food sticks out as wow. It’s the kind of food you expect from your average Joe Schmo pizza place that serves pasta dishes. Service has always been decent for us though. They have a bar when you walk in, and several rooms for dining and catering. Décor is so so, easy parking, average prices, again nothing special. Was very happy last time our family chose a different italian restaurant in congers to host a family event, so much better there. I would advice you to skip this place and try another italian restaurant on Main Street or the area. If you have grown up on home cooked italian food, the food here is a joke.

Can we give zero stars??? This place has the worst service. The food was like dog food — in appearance and taste. I don’t know why people like this place. They must not eat out very often.
