Was a wonderful place to stop in and explore a few weeks back on a friday during the day. Several European treats to choose from. My husband and I adored the Linzer bars. fresh flaky and fruity.

A great local bakery well known for it’s Christmas stollen. They make excellent cakes — with excellent buttercream frosting. Other favorites include donuts, bars, nut horns, and cheesecakes. If you’re in New Glarus don’t miss the bakery!

Love this unpretentious popular bakery, located right next to the ever popular Glarner Stube. I was so delighted I got some treats to wade me through the long wait at Glarner Stube. There are treats for all ages, and everyone found things they liked. There’s usually a line, but the wait is not long at all. I personally really enjoy the original nut horn. It is coated with a nice sugar cover, but not too sweet. The pastry is rather thin, like a flaky pastry. And best of all, its filled with a nutty inside. A little like pecan pie, but not as sticky and sweet. I also tried the sticky bun. It is definitely a steal at $ 1.75! I like the pastry that is not too thick. Kinda like a cinnamon bun, but with nuts on top! My friend also liked the cookies and bought a pound to share with everyone! Great for party snacks! I definitely will stop by again if I pass by New Glarus. And, if you’re hungry at Glarner Stube, remember to get some tasty pastries!

I baked for many years, making bread, muffins, donuts and bagels from scratch, so I have a pretty good idea of what makes a great baked good. This place is pretty much as good as it gets. They have everything from bread to pastries, muffins, and cookies. Definitely highly recommended.

ABSOLUTELYDELICIOUS!!! Rock-bottom, bargain-basement prices! Cream cheese brownies were so good that we had to come back the next day and buy more! Nut horn – phenomenal! Strawberry/Rhubarb bars – to die for. Lucky we don’t live here – I’d weigh 400 pounds. PLEASEKEEPUPTHEGREATWORK! And please give these folks your business – they deserve it!

Cute little bakery in the middle of New Glarus — they have doughnuts, cakes & cookies as well as some Swiss/German specialties like aniseed cookies. We tried a cream horn(delicious flaky pastry with a sweet cream filling) and took home some M&M cookies. Ok, most of the cookies didn’t actually make it home because they were pretty tasty. If you don’t have a sweet tooth, they also bake fresh bread and even sell homemade pretzels.

My father has been a loyal customer of this bakery and would get each of his children a stollen every year. We got the stollen and looked foward to consuming it. Imagine our disappointment at the dried out stollen with none of the flavor of butter or kirsch… nothing like the stollen of years past. Truthfully I get a better stollen at Aldi’s or Trader Joe’s. For $ 20 I will get a Racine kringle before I take another chance on one of these dried out loaves of stollen. This is upsetting as in years past it was a go to WI made gift. Sad.

Stopped by before visiting the brewery. The apple slice, apple fritter and cookies were exceptional. Coffee satisfied, too. Nice selection of sweets and breads.

This is an update to a previous review in which I shared a bad experience I had at the NGB. The owner contacted me in regard to my review and whenever an owner takes the time to write it tells me that someone is listening and gets an improved rating. I have been assured that what I experienced was an issue for a short time but has been corrected. For this I am thankful because I have always liked the bakery here. My favorites are the croissants and unique cookies that you cannot find anywhere else nearby.

I visited this place after sampling all the New Glarus beer that the Beer, Bacon, and Cheese fest had to offer. I mean, come on, it’s hard not to sample the delicious beer of the same name as the town. About 92% sure that the beer didn’t cloud my judgement, but I’m thinking every item this bakery produces is tasty. We got a tub of chocolate cookie dough, and I’m telling you, it made some of the best goddamned cookies I’ve ever eaten. The dough rose upwards during the baking, and it was really freaking delicious. Can’t comment on prices because I don’t remember. I do remember, however, tasty cookies. And walking out like I just won the fire bet. Make sure to take a beer break and visit this bakery in the awesome little town of New Glarus.

Let me tell ya a little story about a boy named… Maurie! Maurie likes sugar. A lot. And although Marie is afraid to admit it in social settings, he secretly wishes everything he puts in his mouth is sweet. He’s gotten better over time, worked to recognize the importance of savory things as part of a complete diet, but places like New Glarus Bakery make Maurie return to old ways. On a recent trip to New Glarius Maurie had an apple cider donut before lunch. And an apple cider donut AFTER lunch. And a nut horn after lunch. And a Swiss desert made with pasty cream, honey and almonds too. Maurie also took home some sea turtles(super cute turtles covered in sea salt) with the idea that maybe his roommates might enjoy a lil something sweet, but Maurie had a hard time sharing. And ate most of them. Poor roommates. Everything is delicious. You should visit. Call ahead with large quantities or items they don’t stock routinely. And tell them Maurie sent you.

I can not remember a bakery who believe they are worth the prices they charge. Must have been that little mention on a tv show that swelled their heads! $ 2.50 apeice for a nuthorn?! They are so small. It might be different if they were bigger than 2 bites. Spend your money more wisely nextdoor at the sausage shop. This bakery isn“t worth the price you pay for what you get. NEVERAGAIN!!!

I liked this bakery. I was impressed at the wide variety of baked goods and the prices were lower than I expected. The pumpkiny items were not AS pumpkiny as we would have liked, but they were tasty. We had a pumpkin frycake(which, as far as I could tell, was a normal doughnut), a pumpkin cruller, a nut horn, and a caramel apple fritter(altogether, the total was $ 3.70). I think the caramel was not really necessary so I’d recommend getting the regular apple fritter. There were also a lot more specialty, Swiss? items that had decent descriptions, so if you’re looking for more specialized items, it’s worth looking here.

The best blueberry scone I’ve ever had came from the New Glarus Bakery. Most scones are really dry and thirst-inducing, but the scones here are soft and flaky, like a fresh biscuit, with tasty fruits and a light glaze on top. Not too sweet, either — just right. I also recommend the«frycakes»($ 6 for a container of 12, I think), the soft pretzels, and the breads — especially sourdough. My mom says the rye bread is really good. I hate rye bread in general, but I’ll take her word for it. To each his own, I suppose. Individual doughnuts are 60 – 85 cents each and are«buy one, get one free,» last time I checked. Check the shelves for day-old baked goods for an even better value. Come to think of it, I’ve never disliked something from the New Glarus Bakery.

This is a bakery if I’ve ever seen one… Worth the stop if you are within an hour radius. Things we tried: *Nut horn — really good *Honey Bar — like a graham cracker with frosting. yumm *Peanut bar — unique and tasty *Donuts — cheap and delicious

So if you’re driving through the area on a big south central Wisconsin road trip, you gotta stop here. This is a super cute bakery which sells many tempting goodies. Back in the day when all the kids graduated from high school your party was considered«cool» if your cake came from the New Glarus bakery. My brothers cake came from there, mine on the other hand was home made cupcakes, since I was a baker in the making. So if you want to be «cool», order a cake from the New Glarus bakery and be sure to get their raspberry filing to really impress everyone.
