This place is nice. The people doing the tastings are nice and helpful. The tastings are $ 5. The cider is very good. I bought 2 bottles. They also have wine from Baldwin winery. They have moonshine and many other liquors also. It is small tasting room but it is made up by the service.

This place was absolutely cool… cider tasting is not something we get in California, but with apples being plentiful in New York this is the place to go for it. We had a flight of ciders for a $ 5 tasting fee and then after we could choose anything else they poured… I chose Absentith since I never had it… very different. We also bought a bottle of cider and sat outside and shared it… very good stuff.

So glad to have found this. World class ciders — which, to me, are so drinkable when they are this smooth. The Gold Label cider is like champagne only without the over-sweetness or tartness of anything other than the best champagnes. And the Ten66 has to be tastes to be appreciated — brandy but smoother and more drinkable. Can’t wait to try it with some good cheese at home!

Excellent Doc’s Draft hard cider. Not too sweet. A nice alternative to beer or wine. Goes well with lunch, casual dinner or on a hot day at the beach. A bit pricey at $ 6 for 22 oz but a definite higher quality than the syrupy wine cooler type hard ciders that are out there.

Located next to Soon’s market, this humble barn has a tasting bar, cider vats, and a selection of hard ciders made from Soon’s very own apples. They also have other locally distilled spirits like whiskeys and moonshine. The ciders vary from sweet to dry like champagne.

I’ve always loved Soon’s Orchard Cider. There is simply nothing else like it. So I guess it is not surprising that the Orchard Hill hard cider is absolutely amazing. I was there for a cocktail hour on Valentine’s Day where they introduced their new 1066 Pommeau(it’s like a Port made with apples — so amazing — absolutely unreal!). Not only that, they handed out tastings of the cider that they are working on now and that will be available in kegs. Really cool & authentic. Love it!

I’m not a big wine person, so it’s great to find a place that has other stuff for tastings — beer, spirits(try the moonshine!) and their namesake, the hard cider. It’s crisp and dry — not that syrupy sweet stuff you find everywhere else. The selection is great considering it’s a cozy place. Nice bonus if you’re hungry — soons orchards store/farm market is right next door!

Have been meaning to write a review of a few places that really stood out to me on my trip to NYC and theHudson river area. Went for a visit to my friends place in the Kingston area and we stopped off to check out the Soon’s family Orchard on our road trip from NYC. We drove up to buy a fresh baked apple pie as it was the end of apple season and I was tempted by the sign that mentioned«tastings» for local hard cider and New york state wine’s etc… Being a bartender I’m always curious to try new products and especially things that are locally made. We were super happy to find every kind of apple under the sun or it seemed so at their market and then cruised over to check out the tasting room. We were delighted with the service at the tasting room. We tried and bought their very own dry hard apple cider… We also tried several local bourbons including Hill rock mmm good from the hudson valley a taste of a bourbon made following George Washington’s very own recipe. They had cool stuff. My favorite was the local sugar wash moonshine that they mixed up with their own hard fresh pressed apple cider and their family farms hard cider. We bought several bottles of cider, wine and moonshine to bring back for our family and friends. … needless to say we were pretty happy. On the way out we ended up hanging out longer grabbing a fresh grilled burger cooked on apple wood chips! We made friends with the family farm dogs and I have to say it was an ideal afternoon. We’ll definitely be back!

My partner & I were on vacation in NYC& heading up to visit a friend upstate, which made the perfect opportunity to meet half way at one of the many apple orchards. With some advice from a friend ended up at Soons Orchard & the Orchard Hill cider mill. The whole place was super cute & homey with hay rides and pumkins(this was mid Oct.). We were totally taken in by the awesome people at the Orchard Hill tasting room with their clear passion for their own product, a really refined tasting dry hard cider, yumm. Also they offered free samples of most all the locally made hooch they carry. I mean, who doesn’t like expecting apples & pie, then ending up with free happy hour! WooHoo:) Anyway they carry some super amazing stuff, we left with a case of assorted amazing booze. A few bottles of their trademark cider, a jug of the sugar wash moon shine, some wine and a few other things. We also got a yummy pie from next door. The cider made great thanksgiving gifts to our families back in the NorCal Bay Area, great reviews all around, it was fabulous for toasting & general holiday cheer. I will definitely have it on my itinerary next time I visit NY, and will leave room in my check in bag to smuggle back some more bottles! Oh yeah, there’s also a guy outside the big barn grilling up fresh ground beef hamburgers that were soooo good. I love this place.
