Was excited to go here based on the reviews. Eager to eat some curry chicken. Some woman was standing in the doorway talking obnoxiously with another across the street. Lady didn’t even look me in my face just simply said were not open and mind you, it was 1230. I asked, I’m not able to get anything? She said, i just told you were not open still looking away. I never felt like kicking some one ass so bad. You lost a customer for sure. Rude, terrible customer service.

Have been here 4 times now over the past couple of years going to or coming from NY, but can say without a doubt it’s worth a trip from anywhere. This is the real thing — from the jerk chicken cooked on a grill on the street — to the oxtails, red beans and rice, cabbage, curried goat — it’s all expertly prepared, well seasoned and just plain effing awesome! The owner is always lovely and accommodating, and everyone is so welcoming. I crave this stuff and wish I didn’t live so far away, as there is nothing to compare in New London county. Do yourself a favor and check this place out. The clouds of aromatic smoke coming from the grill will grab you by the nostrils and drag you inside, and once you taste the food, your brains will fall right out. This place is definitely habit forming. It’s take-out, so it’s always a struggle to not dive into the containers on the trip home. Seriously, I have to put the food in the back seat where I know I can’t reach it. Please Caribbean Connection, don’t ever go away, and please consider opening a restaurant somewhere in Southeastern CT!

Wow! Best Jamaican food and we’re from Miami! We tried the curry goat, curry chicken, jerk chicken and oxtail and all were delicious. Best of all, they were about the friendliest group of people I’ve encountered in a long time.

The aroma of succulent jerk chicken wafting from this place is enough to beckon the dead back to life! Seriously, every time I drive past the place, all I can think is, «Damn! That chicken has to be delicious, smelling so blasted good!» Based on the smell, I was really hype about devouring this chicken. But alas, it was false representation in action. Sigh. The chicken is slathered with a thin layer of jerk seasonings, that upon first whiff promises to have a huge flavor payoff. But somehow the chicken is bland underneath. Also, make sure its cooked all the way through, I found some pink spots toward the bone in my chicken. The rice and peas, and cabbage are just okay. Nothing to get excited about. The ‘restaurant’ itself is more of a food stand, the space is tight(literally a hole in the wall). There is no way you can dine in. A disappointment all around.

Absolutely delicious Curry Chicken. I got it as soon as they opened and oh boy was it worth it. A small hole in the wall joint but absolutely amazing.

We stopped by for the Jerk Chicken yesterday, finally, after being tempted by their outdoor grill across from Edge of the Woods so many times. It was just as good as it looked. Juicy and delicious! Also, we didn’t feel like we were going to die of a heart attack, so that was a bonus. Highly recommended!

Being seriously tired of winter seeping into my bones, I decided today to seek out some Jamaican food to help cut through the haze of New Haven winter, and I thought I’d give Caribbean Connection, which I’d seen across from Edge of the Woods a shot. I’m really, really glad I did. I’ve only tried one dish, the stewed oxtail with butter(lima) beans, but it is SO good I can’t imagine that the other dishes offered can be anything less than great. Seriously, I’m actually picking at the cartilage left on the bones of the oxtail at this point. Heads up, this is a takeout place, and is even smaller than Gastronomique/Ay Salsa(somehow). There is a table outside, if the weather permits. The menu is small and hits the major areas of Jamaican food: oxtail, jerk chicken, goat, browned fish, etc. All dishes come with plantain, cabbage, and red beans and rice, all of which are excellent. The woman who was working the counter(who was obviously Jamaican, and, I would assume, the proprietor) was very nice, helpful, and gracious. I don’t really know what else to say, except to eat here as soon as you can.
