The only cleaner in New Haven that doesn’t completely damage your clothing, or have totally unpleasant employees. Don’t know why Ted and Jet are so utterly incompetent. J&J does good work, but the lady who works there comes directly out of a Korean slasher movie; I feel lucky to escape with my life.

Of course there are a ton of dry cleaners closer to Yale but after researching them I decided I didn’t want to take the chance and instead drove to Sylvan and couldn’t have been happier. The employees were friendly, they have a fast turnaround on drycleaning(at no extra charge), their prices are a lot cheaper than anywhere else I found, and they do a quality job. What else can you ask for? Tips: –10% discount if you pre-pay –Minimum $ 10 charge on credit cards

Have used them for both dry cleaning and alterations and the service has been good for both. I haven’t done much comparison to other cleaners in the area so they might be on the pricey side.

If you can handle the attitude, they may do the best basic alterations in the area. I’ve been pretty frustrated elsewhere so I value them highly. Perhaps more highly than they value themselves… Once, when I brought in a pair of pants that needed a simple repair on a seam they were like, «Why are you even bringing this in?» Because I want it fixed. «Can’t you do this yourself?» Um, no. And certainly not as well as you can! Please, let me pay you $ 10 to make these hard to find, hard to fit, pants look nice and tidy and professional again. Please, Sylvan Cleaners, I beg you.
