These guys have great bread. My favorite is their roasted garlic stix, which I tried this past weekend at the Haven Free Clinic 5k. Gonna have to give their walk-​in storefront a try…

These guys are a joke. Bought their Wheat & Olive Oil bread at a Stop N Shop in Rhode Island. The following are some observations:
— Its supposed to be a wheat bread, but wheat flour is literally the last item in the ingredients list. There is more Olive Oil than wheat flour!
— The bread is marketed as ‘All Natural’, however the flour they use has been enriched. Im sorry, but those chemicals used to enrich bread dont sound very natural to me!
— They tout ‘Good Source of Protein’ on the packaging. The bread only has 5 grams per serving! Thats not even enough for them to have included a percentage of daily intake on the back.
— Bread is not cheap. 8oz loaf is more than 3 $.
Not very impressed.

These guys make some great bread! So happy that I work so close to the bakery and their cash-​only outlet! Their cranberry-​walnut bread is incredible and the prices are fantastic! Will definitely be going back!

Chabaso makes some great bread that you can get at most local supermarkets. but the cool thing to do is stop by their tiny cash only retail outlet store on James Street for $ 1 loaves of bread. I walked out with way too much bread for $ 5. this bread freezes and reheats well, so stock up! my favorite is the garlic stic, cranberry harvest rolls, ciabatta rolls. oh so many choices, so little time. On street parking was easy, quiet neighborhood, friendly staff here. If i don’t have time to bake my own bread, i go with Chabaso.

In my opinion, this is the best bread in the state. Any time I have gotten one of their loaves of ciabatta, their boule or various kinds of whole grain, it has been absolutely delicious. Best of all, it freezes very well. All you have to do is pop it into a warm oven and it tastes like it has just been baked.
You can get their bread at local supermarkets; however, if you make a pilgrimage to the bakery outlet on James Street, you can get the freshly made bread at a discount. They also have day-​old loaves for a dollar.
Another thing, the Chabaso company is very generous at supporting the New Haven community, especially education.

Great local bread. I love their ciabatta rolls. They have a factory store on James Street that sells discounted bread. The bread is the excess bread that didn’t sell for the day. The savings isn’t huge but it’s worth a stop if you’re ever in the neighborhood.
