Today was the first time I stopped by this store. The location is convenient, and the sales representative was very friendly, mature, and attentive. She took time to explain the products to me, noting the pros and cons of each. I really appreciated the honesty and guidance! She even gave me some samples after I made my purchase. As a first-time customer, the good service definitely has an impact; I’m looking forward to coming back again!

I had a much needed afternoon in new haven today, and decided to hit up l’occitane for some Xmas gifts. The staff were fantastic, helping me pick out something for my sister in law who I wasn’t sure about what she liked scent-wise. While I was texting my husband, I realized I was getting nowhere. The girl who helped me(Victoria) suggested an almond scented body wash that seemed to be a crowd pleaser. I went ahead with that(and a gift receipt just in case) and she beautifully boxed it, and bagged it with scented tissue paper. She also threw in some samples of various creams and shampoo/conditioners. One less thing to wrap! The staff were extremely friendly and down to earth, and not pushy at all. The lotions I tested were fantastic, not greasy, and smelled wonderful. I will definitely be returning, at least for a my own personal splurge!

I had only recently tried L’Occitane products at hotels/airlines that I’ve used, and so I was very curious to come here and try some more things… And boy, am I so, so glad that there’s a L’Occitane in New Haven. I love this place. So far, I’ve tried their famous hand cream(w/shea). and some of their facial products(Angelica collection, really love the fragrance!), and am really enjoying all of them. The things that I value the most is that they just make great products, that you use daily. In other words, yes, their products can be on the expensive side, but they are made to actually address your needs, and are worth it. The other thing that I really like about L’Occitane is their customer service. The people who work here are very kind, helpful, and not pushy at all. They seem to be real people who use their products and will honestly tell you the pros and cons to all, so you can decide which are better for your needs. I guess the main thing that I felt, after visiting here twice, so far, was that despite L’Occitane being a chain company, this store manages to feel like a local, personable store. I even got a handwritten letter from one of the employees at the shop, thanking me for my purchase!

Great addition to The Shops At Yale — opened their doors in November 2013. Fully stocked location(despite itty bitty store floor) afforded me a much hunted bath salt and skin cream not always available at other locations. Two welcoming and pleasant staff chatted with me without pressuring me at all, which is important in these tight quarters. Unfortunately they didn’t offer me the exclusive gift set included for patrons who spent a certain amount of money, which is disappointing, and I didn’t see it in my email till after I’d left the store. Definitely check your email and around the register for gifts with purchase before you head out! Otherwise solid addition to the Chapel Street storefronts.
