The Mitchell branch of the New Haven Library system is quite small(though not as small as the Stetson branch). It’s a fairly typical community branch library, with an emphasis on providing community activities and resources for the Westville community, and an abbreviated selection of books, as compared with the Main branch. The staff here are quite helpful, and if this branch is missing something you want, they will not only offer to find out if another branch has it(which you could do by consulting the online catalog, obviously), but whether any of the other branches has or will be ordering any materials of that type. This is far more useful to a patron, but the librarians at the other branches don’t seem to be willing to put in this time. That said, the drawback of its small size can make it difficult to find space to sit, even on weekdays, and its collection is really quite limited. The Children’s section seems to be well-stocked, but I haven’t spent any time looking it over. If I do, I’ll update this review accordingly. No parking lot, but it’s relatively easy to find street parking nearby, some metered, and even some free parking on Harrison, on the other side of Whalley Its hours, current as of this review(10÷18÷11), are: Mon 12 – 8 Wed 10 – 6 Thu 10 – 6 Sat 12 – 5 Closed on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. –K
