This bar is awesome. I’ve never had the food so I can’t comment on that. It’s a college bar but also with a local New Haven and graduate student crowd so it’s a miss of everyone. Their tap selection is always quality and the space itself is an enormous upgrade from the old Rudy’s. It’s just a great place to come and hang out. Don’t expect to have a table and seats though, that’s a varity here.

Tried Rudy’s tonight based on the recommendations on Unilocal.I am glad I did! Had the New Haven Burger and it was delicious. It was a great burger that was made as I wanted and the flavor was perfect! Good beer selection. Would recommend to anyone looking for a great burger in New Haven.

Surprisingly good bar food. The frites are not to be missed. Don’t skimp on the aioli — choose a couple each and share. The smell of lemon cleaner is terribly overwhelming, though. Yalies love it so.

The coffee is pretty good but it could be better. The bartender who wants to be in Kiss has great taste in beer but plays a lot of weird records.

A lot of Yale students actually don’t know about this place so when I tried it out, I was very surprised with its good food and beer. I’ve been for lunch, dinner, and for late night. In terms of food, I really recommend the chicken sandwich. Probably the best chicken sandwich I’ve ever had. They also have very cheap but good beer! It can go pretty packed, so expect a little bit of a wait.

Went tonight with the lady for the first time(Monday 3⁄21). Great service, great atmosphere, great beer I had the Brooklyn Spring Ale and Ommegang Whit, food was great we had pirogies, fries, and pulled pork flatbread. This is a fantastic craft beer bar on the outskirts of downtown New Haven. Intimate setting, nice and attentive staff, if I lived closer this would be my go to bar. I’ll definitely be back.

The atmosphere is mellow, unpretentiously hipster. A place for good beer and good company. The interior has cozy diner seating, and the back patio is open for a smoke break. I don’t smoke but for those of you who do, you’re welcome. This is the best place to get fries in New Haven. The burgers are good, but I’d also pick Prime 16 as a prime suspect for such quality. It is really the fry seasoning and sauce selection that sets this fine establishment apart from the rest of diner fare out there in the world. I hate sauces, but I love Rudy’s sauces. They have virtually every kind you can imagine that would taste good on a fry, with a good variety of mayo vs. ketchup bases. This is a godsend as I can’t do dairy. My favorite is anything involving chipotle. Do yourself a favor and forsake the non-carb diet for a fry binge. The price increases as you demand more sauce-age(not sausage), but splurge. You deserve it.

Fried chicken burger. Get it! So damn good, my boyfriend had been raving about it for months and I finally tried it and damn is it good! Haven’t tried anything else on the menu, mainly cuz I keep going back for that fried chicken burger! The fries are decent, mainly I just like the variety of dipping sauces, makes me think of the belgian fry shops I used to go to. Sauces I’ve tried were ok, maybe I just chose the wrong ones. Seems like a decent beer selection, I tried a chocolate stout that was heavy on the chocolate, not so much on the stout. Not my favorite, won’t order again, but it’s cool they had a few porters and stouts, since a lot of places don’t really carry much selection on the darker side of the spectrum. Crowd seemed lively, atmosphere was laid back, overall I’d say 3 – 4 stars but the fried chicken burger pushes this to a 5!

Frites with samurai dipping sauce, buffalo wings(well done) and a goblet of Orval = AMAZING. It’s the only meal I ever order, even going back to Rudy’s days on Elm St. I’ve spent a countless number of nights at Rudy’s and I’ve enjoyed brunch there. Perfect margarita and stuffed French toast.

The service here for lunch recently was awful. The waitress/bartender working alone was rude, unfriendly, and off-putting. The food was just okay, and nowhere near good enough to offset the service. To add injury to insult, the table for our large party was laid out in a way that two of us bumped our heads on the unusually low light fixtures when getting up. I won’t be back.

Rudy’s is a low key bar famous for its frites(get the pesto mayo!). The staff has always been nice to me and my friends: they’re attentive and helpful. No one was ever rude to us here. I’m a big fan of the bistro burger with goat cheese and arugula.

Came here on a quiet Sunday(right before Thanksgiving break). They have a great beer selection(both local crafts as well as imported). They have a few TVs set to sports, and a considerable amount of seating, including the back room which was very, very dimly lit. They played some good jams, and while we didn’t get any food, we saw a lot of it come out and they looked/smelled delicious. But alas, we had a dinner reservation. Willpower is sometimes a character flaw.

Came here for lunch the other day with a few coworkers and I really enjoyed it. This place has great food. I ordered the Barnyard BBQ burger and it was delicious. A little overwhelming and you definitely want to make sure you have extra napkins, but nevertheless, very tasty. In addition, they also have a pretty good beer selection and a decent happy hour.

A New Haven classic that has gone through a pleasant transformation as it moved from its former seedy location to the new attractive chapel st corner. The restaurant /bar is a hopping spot for students and young professionals to frequent in the evenings. The selection of mayonnaise is large enough to make you question the possibility that you may be missing out on yet a better mayo. Their burgers are impressively sized but the time honored favorite is the mussels in white wine. People watching is fun if you sit at the street side of the bar.

This place should be renamed to just RUDE cos the staff there? really, really rude. The rudest of the rude ones is the bald guy, that guy is *unbelievably* rude. He is the king of rude. One time, he legit hurt my feelings. Also the place smells like a hospital, which for a bar, is unsettling.

My favorite hang out. All the patrons are friendly, and it’s a great mix of people. There are Yalies, hipsters, punks, preps, locals, and out-of-towners, ages 21 – 70. The bartenders are great, and I always sit at the bar when eating. I especially love Jeff. They make good, strong drinks at reasonable prices. There is always a good selection of beers, with a concentration of Belgian styles. The fries are fantastic, I highly recommend the maple sriacha and samurai sauces for dipping. Also, the burgers are really yummy, I always get the New Haven with avocado added. There is often a dj on the weekends, which is fun. There is not much of a dance scene here, it’s more like being at a party in someone’s living room.

Drinks, great fries with huge selections of sauces to dip and enjoy! Right along the parade route on St. Patty’s Day! Irish car bombs, cider, Guinness, and free Jameson tee shirts! Go and come back! I’ll be back. The burgers looked off the hook, we will be back.

Rudy’s is the quintessential modern, local bar. They have a fantastic beer selection, which always features a $ 4 beer after 9PM(it may start earlier, not sure). They have really good frites and enough sauces to keep you coking back to try them. The serving size on the frites is also well worth the price. I’ve tried the salmon burger(3⁄5), the shrimp Po’Boy(3.5÷5), and the BBQ wings(4⁄5). The karaōke on Thursday nights is also a good time. The bartenders are chill and attentive, and the atmosphere is very welcoming.
