Logan Inn

So as much as I hate writing this review, I feel as if I don’t have a choice. We are somewhat local and when we go to New Hope, The Logan Inn outside bar is our go to place to have a few drinks, an appetizer and to people watch. This Saturday was no exception and we decided to go this past Saturday afternoon to top off a great vacation week.
I ordered a glass of wine and my husband, a mojito. Only the brown thing floating in his drink wasn’t a piece of sugar cane, as I originally thought. It was, you got it… a roach. We flagged the bar tender who apologized, called the manager over (at least it seemed he was the manager), said the mojito was on the house, and gave my husband another one. Despite being totally grossed out, we stayed. We aren’t the kind of people who make a stink over things, so my husband drank Coronas the rest of the night (from the bottle), and we ordered an appetizer (which I scrutinized).
At the end of the afternoon, we got the bill, which was $ 67.96. I happened to notice that we were also being charged for the Mojito. My husband told me, let’s just go and not worry about it, and after leaving the tip, we left.
I was very disappointed that they didn’t consider their patrons, especially after something so gross. Shame on them for not making it right. But shame on us for not saying anything, but we really shouldn’t have had to. Needless to say, we won’t be going back.
For anyone who decides to go, please scrutinize your beverage/​food.
Because they won’t.

3:00 on a sweltering Saturday afternoon we ran inside to what we hoped was a cool bar and even cooler drinks. Not to be. There was a party in the room off the bar, so we were told we couldn’t sit in the bar it wasn’t open. Although the bartender was there,?? A kind hostess ushered us off to the porch which was indeed air conditioned. So, ok we’ll have some cocktails and some munchies.
We ordered two (as we later found out) rather overpriced, cocktails and decided to try the iced seafood for two, imperial I believe it was called, it was 110 $. But hey a whole lobster, shrimp, oysters, clams… iced and cold on a hot day. (Not to be)
What arrived was a 2tier platter of ice water with a shrimpy rock lobster tail sliced in half and schlepped atop a few lonely oysters and several rubbery old clams. A hastily dumped pile of semi-​submerged, crab was also there but you would have to ring it out to eat it.
We ate the oysters, because we were starving,(after pouring the water out of them) but the lobster halves and almost non-​existent shrimp were drowned in the water bath. Inedible.
The kid who waited on us was nice, but made no attempt to rectify the situation, had he any experience, he would never have delivered that shameful mess in the first place. Hey CHEF WERE YOU EVEN THERE?
We paid and couldn’t get out of there fast enough. Why bother to complain when your staff would be so inept as to serve such a disaster. Dropped a buck fifty… Last cash they’ll ever get from us! Yukkk! Don’t waste your time or cash. By the way we went on to have a great dinner and cocktails and spend our money elsewhere, on the other side of the river!

Horrible, horrible, horrible — from beginning to end. Travel 1 hour to meet friends at this restaurant. Called 3 days in advance to make a reservation for 6 people inside. Arrive and they don’t have a table for us. They have the reservation, but no table. They squeezed us around a table for 4! One person orders an appetizer — beet salad with goat cheese. We have to remind the waiter that we ordered the salad and when it finally appears it’s missing the cheese. Another orders the prime rib, medium-​rare. It arrives well-​done! Had to ask for bread for the table and for the water refills. It was a food and service nightmare. I used to visit this place often before the new owners and never experienced anything like this. I will never return nor will my friends!

Sunday brunch for some good jazz, mediocre service and pricey, usually good food.
Go here to waiter watch. There’s a ton of them milling and chilling while your plate sits waiting to be removed. You will want to order oysters, but won’t bc you are tired of waiting for them to acknowledge you. But they are having fun talking about important food bro things and watching the hockey game the 20-​something waiter bros fought a customer to watch. Yep. That’ll be $ 35. :)

Although the staff were very friendly, it wasn’t mentioned that they were under renovation. The water leaked randomly in shower and I just woke to the sound of construction starting at 715 am on a Saturday. For $ 250 a night… That is unacceptable. Afraid I won’t be visiting again.

Went in for the bar only, had a good time with my wife despite the bartenders thinking they are way cooler than they are, quick reminder you are there to serve drinks and you work for tips, you are a bartender! Tend the bar!

I almost feel bad for writing this because this inn is very cute and charming but ultimately, you are paying a BOATLOAD for what you end up getting. The inn is a historic building in the historic portion of New Hope. It has a rich history and pieces of the history are displayed in the lobby and front hallway of the building. The lobby is small and the front desk does not stay open 24 hours. The person at the desk made it very clear to us when we checked in. We came at 9:40PM after driving from NYC and stopping for dinner. The person at the desk was the owner of the restaurant. She told us, «We are not a 24 hour hotel. We close at 9PM. We open at 9AM. You will need the key FOB to get in and out of the building at those times. We are not a B&B. We do not offer breakfast.» It was a bit unpleasant. It was done in a jokey sort of manner but I feel like you probably don’t want to tell guests all of the things you don’t do…
We had to carry our own bags up to our room, which is not the end of the world. But again, another thing they don’t do.
The room itself was a bit small and shabby. Yes, it is an old inn and their going for that ambiance, but there is a difference between old and quaint and just shabby. This was more on the shabby side. The bathroom was especially outdated. Again, not old fashioned and lovely, just out of date. Think circa 1990. The mattress on the bed was incredibly uncomfortable. I had a very hard time getting to sleep and then staying asleep. I woke up with incredible back pain that last through the morning. This is not something I typically wake up with so I am blaming the mattress.
Overall, we just weren’t very impressed. We have stayed in historic inns for way less that do the historic décor and historic feeling MUCH better. For what you are paying, you just really aren’t getting much. The fact that there is no breakfast even served in the mornings is crazy. How hard/​expensive would it be to put out some muffins and cereal? I mean really. With the amount you pay a night, this should really be doable. If they updated their bathrooms, spring for some cereal in the morning/​a little coffee, this place could really be a gem. It is located right in the heart of New Hope so it has that going for it. We also did not encounter any ghosts while staying here. Bummer. Kinda was hoping to run into a spirit of two after reading about all the sightings! I will give them this: we did not hear a lot of noise from the street or the downstairs bar/​restaurant.

Bartender is a jerk. First told us that our drink request will take him forever to make, after I said it’s for my friend’s 30^th birthday, he reluctantly made the drink. Then, he told me and my birthday friend to «chill out» with the picture taking. Wow. Really? No pictures at a bar.

Every time I come to New Hope I stop here to have a beer and people watch while sitting outside looking over Main Street. This time, the service was absolutely TERRIBLE! It was a little busy on this particular Sunday, but not crazy. The waiter took forever to take our drink order and the food (sliders & fries) took 50 minutes! During this time the waiter didn’t even see if we wanted more drinks nor did he check on our food order. When I was finally able to flag him down, I told him I no longer wanted the food and to just give me the check for the drink. He apologized and blamed it on the slow kitchen. 10 minutes later he comes out with the food and asks if I still want it, it was sitting under the lights. Oh yeah, I definitely want those dried out sliders now. So we left and went to Havanas. Tip: have a drink here and get it yourself from the bar. Don’t bother eating here.
This is also the first time I stayed at the Logan Inn. It was nothing special. The room was big, but the bathroom was from the 1970’s. It was about $ 150 on a Sunday night. Weekends are double that and not worth it

Thank you for the lousy experience this weekend. I brought my friends into New Hope ave we decided to dine at Logan’s Inn. The place was packed so we had to sit outside in a section where there weren’t any heat lamps for some reason.
At first, service was good. We received our drinks and appetizers in a timely fashion. I ordered the calamari, which was not fresh, but satisfactory. Of my friends, they ordered the Mac n cheese and octopus, which were a better choice.
So, 1.5 hours pass by and with no updates from our waiter, I decide to take matters into my own hands. The place died down and it would have been nice to move us under a heat lamp. But instead, our table was neglected. I found a waitress inside who checked on our table, My description of where we sat, and the dinners we ordered. She came back and told me the chef had no record or recollection of our order.
Finally, I told the host who followed me back to our table so he could figure out who our waiter was and notify him that we didn’t receive our dinner. The host, not the waiter, came back and tells us a different story… he told us that someone brought OUR food to another table. So someone ordered the same exact food as us hmmmm. Liar.
I canceled the order. No manager ever came to fix the situation. So again, thanks for ruining the evening for us and doing NOTHING to apologize or provide an incentive to stay or come back again.

Bad Cathy. She kicked out my crippled uncle, aunt and I from the patio due to his little service dog who had lost its ID. She wouldn’t accept the lost property police report or online ID on the phone neither of which we are required under the law. Poor people who work under this unhappy woman. I’ll make sure no one I know ever steps foot in this establishment.

Stopped in for a quick drink and appetizer with friends before dinner. I had red sangria which was yummy. Service was a little slow. Had homemade hummus with pita and cucumbers., Calamari salad was bountiful and delicious. Outside was good seating.

The gentleman behind the outside bar was so unfriendly I felt uncomfortable from the moment I sat down. Hey, everybody has a bad day, but don’t take it out on your customers. I ordered a draft beer and asked for a menu. After throwing the menu at me, I ordered the moules frites with white wine, garlic and parsley.
What came out were inedible, way too old mussels with no sauce whatsoever. I immediately sent them back and asked for my check.
Any kitchen that would send those out to customers clearly doesn’t care. Combined with the sour demeanor of the bartender, I’ll never return.
As a new local to New Hope, this is not a place I can recommend. Avoid!

Been here twice now. Cute bar, service is fine, and the food is up to snuff. However, I find it shameful their beer prices – $ 6 for a pint of Yuengling… that’s a bit ridiculous.
There’s nothing about this place that stands out as either bad or outstanding. However I really like one thing – the outdoor dining out front. It’s great. This one aspect is what brings me back.
Other than that, it’s nothing more than just the same old same old.

Love the history of the inn & restaurant. Sat on the deck for lunch. Nice atmosphere. Started with the hummus platter and it was truly delicious. We cleaned the plate! The turkey panini was served on rosemary focaccia. I got it w/​out bacon and mayo and it was still a very tasty sandwich. Grilled seasonal veggies were very good as was the omelet, fries, and everything I sampled. Large portions.
Food took a while to come out but service was great.

This is an new update. They changed everything and its newly remodeled.
The new menu is limited, Its not the 4 course meal they had before that took forever to get service. I hope they change up the menu per season and bring back the Lobster Bisque please. (It was sooo good). I will say they have a lovely patio for outside dinning and the menu looks much more simple.
The downfall here is the parking situation.
**The parking lot in the back of the restaurant will cost $ 20.00 to park but is not owned by the establishment.
You can find parking near the Play house and on the street or just up the hill at the Police station, which is a short walk up the street if you don’t want to pay the parking fee.
Arrive early just in case you have to search for parking. If its a busy weekend (which it is almost always in the summer) it may take some time.

Highly recommend the grilled octopus. Very tasty and fresh. The Branzino grilled fish was disappointing though.

I am a huge Bruce Springsteen fan. Love his music and always will. Not so much Bön Jovi. I think that if Springsteen wasn’t from my native NJ, I would like Bön Jovi a lot more. While Springsteen penned such classics as Thunder Road & Jungleland, Bön Jovi came up with much more benign classics like, You Give Love A Bad Name and Have A Nice Day. Now, what does Springsteen/​Bön Jovi have to do with The Logan Inn you might ask? If New Hope didn’t have my absolute favorite B&B anywhere, Porches, I would probably like the Logan a hell of a lot more.
There is nothing wrong with it, per se. The rooms are nice enough, but on the small side. The location can’t be beat and the place is quite nice. The staff, on the other hand, is exceptional and quite friendly. Helpful too. But at well over $ 250/​weekend night there are much, much better choices in the surrounding area. Choices that offer more eclectic rooms and include gourmet breakfasts.
For me, the Logan Inn is the place to go when everything else in the downtown New Hope/​Lambertville is booked. I think a room there is worth about $ 150 and if it was, I would add another star, perhaps even 2 but for what they charge, it’s simply not worth it.

This review covers the outside bar only, as we just went for drinks on a gorgeous Saturday evening, after dining at Tastebuds. What I especially like about the Logan Inn is that despite its huge indoor and outdoor footprint, they have designed the dining and drinking spaces to be very cozy & intimate. This is not easy to do on a busy street in New Hope. So if you choose to sit at the outdoor bar, you’ll get well prepared drinks, served promptly & with a smile, while you watch the eclectic crowds of New Hope saunter past. It’s one of the nicest outdoor bars in the area, for sure. If you want a raucous good time, you might want to visit Havana’s — just down the road — which is a little wilder. But I think the folks at the Logan are to be commended for creating such an inviting & cozy (yes, even romantic) outdoor watering hole. I’ll definitely be back.
