Lowe’s

Lowe’s seems to have what I’m looking for, more often than not. It’s the «looking for» part that costs a couple of stars, though.
I’m not sure who planned the layout of this particular store, but it makes very little sense to me. For instance, why would blue Loctite, used on screws, be eight aisles away in the middle of the paint department, instead of next to the screws?
The people in different departments always offer to help, and actually are quite helpful when you engage them. I’ll never forget the guy who shamed me in to fixing my leaky outdoor faucet when I came in looking for a cap to «winterize» it (read: prevent a massive icicle from forming on the side of my house… again…). I’d be lying if I said he wasn’t right.
More often than not, they have everything I’ve come for, which is pretty nice. They’ve never given me a hard time about returning things, and with the Lowe’s credit card, you get 5% back on everything. Since their prices are as good or better than many places (e.g. bottled water, fertilizer, salt for water softeners, some cleaning products), I’ve found that shifting some purchases over to Lowe’s is a nice way to maximize savings.

Conveniently located for me, pretty good return policy. One draw back is they close at 9PM, which is an hour earlier than Home Depot which is a 10 min expressway ride towards Novi.

It’s exactly what you would expect it to be. Nothing too miraculous about this particular Lowes. We have had a front door and carpet installed by them. Both projects were done in a very timely and professional manner, no complaints. We have also purchased several appliances and other household necessities here with no complaints. All the employees here are nice and seem to know their stuff. I would recommend them if you need certain projects done however, I didn’t have them put in my bathroom sink because installation costs WAY too much (more than the sink itself). Also, they are a bit pricey on garage doors and openers, Beckway down the road has better deals.
