I have been here more than 10 times. Their service and food was good in previous day. But now they have more and more customers. You can just expect wait for more than 30 mins for just one course, wait for picking up more than 30 mins when you already called for ordering 1 hour ago. Their service is not so good as before and their food also become worse than before.

It’s Father’s Day. Just me and my dad, wanted a simple dinner… Ordered two dishes, but sat here for an HOUR and all we got was peanuts, water, and«we’ll check on the order»… Finally 1 dish arrived, after an hour. Not the service I expected on Father’s Day…

The sweet sour crispy fish was drenched with a too sweet red sauce. While the portion was huge, the sauce was too overly sweet. Soup dumplings were okay. The skin was too thick. The Hong Kong style noodles were satisfying. The prices are on the high side but it beats driving to flushing. I think they must use msg because I have a headache after dinner. Nice space inside but food was just ok.

The food was delicious even by Chinese standard. I don’t generally eat spicy food so they made non spicy or mild versions for me and all were excellent. Will definitely come back.

Read so many good reviews that got me excited, and determined, to try it this place this past weekend… and so very glad I did!!! Was here Sunday evening. Ambiance was nice, clean and inviting. Parking was full but there was off-street parking that worked. We ordered the dumpling soup(little juicy pork buns) appetizers, salt/pepper prawns, fried beef w cumin, yang zhou fried rice, and Cheng du spicy fish and sautéed snow pea sprouts… ALLWEREJUSTAMAZING and did not disappoint my expectation. Regret was didnt come here sooner. They were 4 of us, all first timers and we definitely will be coming back. In fact, planning a dinner with a few of our friends already. Price was good, serving was just right. Spiciness was bearable and can’t wait to try other dishes. highly recommended!!! … cant find any negative to say —- probably, our new favorite place!

I’m not usually a chinese food fan, but I am a fan of this place and Schezuan food! Finally writing a review after 3 visits, one eat in and two take outs and tried different things on the menu each time, The appetizers could use some work, tried the calamari and the scallion pancakes were plentiful and filling. The Chongqing diced chicken with chili peppercorn, was good but I wish there was less chili and more chicken, and the schezuan peppercorn are no joke, crazy tongue numbing, but the flavor is different than anything else! The fried lamb with cumin was spicy and flavorful, but in my opinion not worth the cost. The one dish we’ve gotten time and again is the fried rice and ask for it spicy, they do a great job! Looks are deceiving, although it looks small outside, it’s quite spacious inside, roomy and quiet. Worth a visit for sure, nothing has disappointed us yet!

5÷22÷16. It becomes a tradition that any of my good friends visit me, Chef Wang would be the destination of our celebration. About 8PM on Saturday, four of the group arrived. The homey setting embraced me once I walked in. Linda recommended some off menu dishes and of course, she has not yet gone wrong once. We ordered dry braised whole fish, live shrimps in pickled mixture, beef with young Spring bamboo tips and Chinese water greens. All top notches. A night with good friends were picture perfect at Chef Wang! Thank you Linda for the Chinese dessert(the black sesame balls were my little boy s favorite). We shall be back soon. 5÷6÷16. Took my mother in law for her birthday. She is a rather snobbish Shanghai cuisine foodie. Lol. But I was confident Chef Wang will subvert her. As a tradition, birthday person must have noodles as a symbol of longevity. My favorite Linda(I have figure d by now. She s actual boss lady here I believe. A extremely smart, earnest n generous lady.) recommended a fresh n cool loofah egg soup noodles to serve the tradition. OMG. It was so refreshing both to eyes n stomach! Soon after the first scoop my mother in law had, she went:“I need to get their business card” which really means she will take her friends here. Lol. This is actually my way of telling if the place is truly good or not. I myself would come here every day if I don’t need to worry about my waistline goes too huge that I no longer be able doing burpees at my kickboxing class:))) simply good!!! Spicy n crispy peanuts fish was a new dish on our table. My husband s favorite. An awesome appetizer with beer! It definitely opens your taste buds in every possible way. I guarantee you that once you have a bite you cannot stop. How could we not order whole fish here! Whole fish or any fish are the signatures. I ordered Dou Ban Quan Yu. The perfect balanced salt, sugar, spice, sour were mingled in company with each other. It was like enjoy melody, blue, jazz n hip hop all at the same time. Amazing! I know I should stop. Stop. Stop. But there were really more. The service! Oh yes. When I saw my food was thoughtfully packed after getting home. I could say:“This place is something else!” Too much to say about the place and the group of people here. Than you Linda n Richard and every one made our night so pleasant n felt like visiting an old friends house. 4÷17÷2016. Every time when I have friends visiting this is a place I bring them for brunch. Home like service n cooking. Richard n Linda are the core of the team here. It s like visiting an old friends house. Fish is always my priority. Linda has not been wrong on recommending dishes. She can read my mind. So it’s a huge plus to me that I don’t need to think about what to order. Love it. 1÷29÷2016. Linda, my all time favorite lady at Chef Wang. Any recommendation she gives would not go wrong! Five of my family people went for my brothers birthday meal. My brother originally planned to Beijing House for his BD, but I finally persuaded everyone came to Chef Wang. We ordered: –Chef Wang grilled fish(mild spicy) –Pork Elbow(braised) –numbing n spicy mixed seafood pot –long green beans They were all amazingly uniquely different and delicious!!! The service is as good as you can get. Another pleasant dinner well spent at Chef Wang.

Love this place, I usually order here when I can’t get the chance to head out to flushin, see I live in long Island so unless my boyfriend can drive me there I can’t go. The only downside to this is that it is pricey even for hot pots. So I usually order from here when I really crave it and try to make the meals count, aside from that flushing is the way to go, cheaper food :)

Where do I even begin! Having moved out to Long Island from Manhattan I found myself in a sudden dearth of eats. I’ve found out the hard way that many of the restaurants rated 4 – 4.5 stars out here would be a 3 or less in Manhattan. Not the least of which is Chinese food! There are so few good asian restaurants out here! But Chef Wang came to my rescue. Big time. Chef Wang is my go to for authentic, well-made Chinese food that is consistent and reliable. And it’s reasonably priced too. The place is always packed with people, drawing both a large crowd of Chinese customers(always a good sign) and non-Chinese. It shows how they are able to adapt to both tastes. Not only are their regular dishes delicious, they even have hot pot. Today I tried their sushi — first time eating sushi side-by-side with authentic chinese food. It was not bad! So much do I like their food, when my family visited from China, we came here two days in a row. I’m serious. Lastly I have to say the service is good here. I have my favorites in terms of the waiters but they are down-to-earth and no frills. This place gets my whole-hearted recommendation!

I picked up General Tsos and oh wow, it really hit the spot. Not at all greasy and the sauce was the perfect combo of sweet, spicy and sour! I loved the warm rice too. Others have said this place is Americanized but I don’t really mind because my meal made me so darn happy!

This has been rated in Newsday as one of the top chinese restuarants in Long Island. I feel it deserves this honor. I had General Tso chicken and it was juicy not dry. The atmosphere was that of a typical big chinese restaurant. The waiter was very friendly and was very personable with us.

Been meaning to come here for nearly 2 years and finally got the chance. Being a fan of authentic Sichuan food and having read the rave reviews on Unilocal,I was looking forward to it. But honestly, I felt a bit let down. Don’t get me wrong, it’s good and it’s authentic, but it didn’t live up to my high expectations and I’ve had better. Didn’t order a whole lot, so maybe I missed out on some of their better menu options. Our order was limited the scallion pancakes, juicy pork buns, fried beef with cumin and Sichuan-style fried rice. We were especially looking forward to the scallion pancakes based on other Unilocalers’ reviews. They stood out from what you’d get from a typical take-out joint in that they weren’t super greasy. But they were a let down. They were on the bland side(not much scallion flavor). The inside was soft and doughy, which was nice, while the outside was fairly flaky similar to phyllo dough. If they had more flavor to them, then I could understand all the excitement. Instead, we had to drown them in the accompanying sauce. The juicy pork buns were indeed juicy, but were also on the bland side, and the dough seemed a little undercooked. The fried beef with cumin lived up expectations, although I’ve found that other Sichuan places manage to fry their meat without rendering it as dry. The heat didn’t come through as much as I expected, but it was there. Frankly, I thought the best part of the meal was the fried rice — which doesn’t say much and was probably because I’d never had«Sichuan-style» fried rice. There’s tiny(miniscule) pieces of beef in it, but the spices used, while not very hot, lent a very interesting and unique flavor. As for environment: it’s way more spacious than any Chinese restaurant I’ve been to in NY and if they needed to, they could even add more tables to the floor — unlikely given the number of tables seemed to far exceed the parking spaces in the lot and on the street. The ambiance was nice except for the two wide-screen TVs tuned to an NBA game. Service was average to slightly-below-average. Felt like two waitresses had split the entire restaurant down the middle while the host wouldn’t even leave his post to process our check. Oh yeah, beer wasn’t served cold. Ultimately, if I lived near NHP, I’d probably come here again and try more things, but I’m unlikely to go out of my way to return. Frankly, if you live in Suffolk or NYC, there are better Sichuan places that are closer to you.

Tried this place for the first time. Ordered smoked tea duck, seafood pan fried noodle and scallion pancake. The purpose of pan frying noodles is to make them crispy which was not the case when my dish arrived, the noodles were soft and wet from soaking in the sauce, and the seafood in my dish wasn’t the freshest. The duck was ok, not very flavorful but it didn’t taste gamey. The best was the pancake, which was nice and crispy, not too oily. The bill was $ 50.89. I feel what I ate was not worth the price. I will not be making a second trip. I know too many excellent chinese restaurants in flushing and chinatown that serve top notch pan fried noodles and duck dishes. Two stars for service, clean quiet place, and a decent scallion pancake.

Chef Wang serves Sichuan food Chef Wang serves Sushi food Chef Wang serves Chinese food Chef Wang can do a lot of things. Came here on a Sunday night around 6pm. Half of the crowd were Asians and the rest were from around the neighborhood(They look like regulars here at the restaurant). Family style restaurant. Over 40 tables available to serve you. Plenty of staff to come around your table with a friendly smile and ready to take your order. Multiple pages on the menu that was combined with a la Carte Sushi, Chinese and Sichuan food(known for MALA Spicy numb food). So we ask the waiter about which one is popular in Sichuan food. He gave us couple of the list that my BF and I tried.(And they make sure if We wanted this in Spicy or Not to spicy, we told them the spicy level). — Dan Dan noodle(Appetizer) $ 7 — Pork Wonton on a Chilli sauce(Appetizer)* $ 5 — Cumin Lamb* $ 17 — Braised Tender Sliced beef in hot chilli oil** $ 17 — Boiled sliced fish with picked cabbage and chilli** $ 24 This was just for 2 adults. Kids weren’t able to eat that spicy so we order them a California roll($ 4.50) and a Shredded chicken noodle soup($ 9) Chef Wang’s Sichuan style is pretty legit, the Spiciness is to cater more to the American side(which is a little weaker). Comparing to other Sichuan places that I have been, Wang’s dishes does not involve a lot of Garlic in it. Is more of a Chilli pepper, oil and with the Aromatic ingredients makes it delicious. Peeking at other table’s order, I see couple tables ordering strictly Sicchuan food, Others were ordering simple Chinese food(Spring rolls, fried rice, general tso’s chicken, etc). Total we spent about $ 100 for 4 people, we had 3 huge pints of leftover. If you are in the Long Island Area and don’t want to go to Flushing or the City to have Sichuan, you should try this place, Recommend to bring more than 3 people to be able to get more than 2 dishes. Private parking lot available and they do take credit cards. * — Level of spiciness from one* is not that spicy to 4**** Very spicy.

Chef Wang has delicious fried rice and a bunch of other dishes! My family and I came here for my birthday dinner this year and we tried all kinds of dishes including some sushi. Everything was very tasty and we enjoyed it. Some of the key dishes we loved were the orange beef, fried rice, beef and broccoli, moo shoo, egg rolls and of course the sushi! Wait, don’t let me forget the steamed pork buns. Everyone was so friendly as well, so that won us over. We would definitely return to Chef Wangs and try a bunch of other dishes. There are so many on the menu so its hard to to pick just a few!

Another fabulous meal at Chef Wang’s! The meal as follows: California Roll — Standard california roll with super fresh ingredients. Spare Ribs — Melt off the bone delicious Pan Fried Pork Dumplings — these were the biggest and best tasting dumplings i have ever had ANYWHERE! Dan Dan noodles — Warm and spicy and this was out second time ordering these. So good that you want to dance afterwards. The dinner. Crispy Duck– this is not on the menu, but they will make it for you. The duck is a smokey duck fried with a crispy topping. This is not your ordinary crispy duck. This is the extraordinary crispy duck. Wang’s chicken and broccoli — this dish has a very lovely taste of lemon. Sometimes when lemon is involved with a dish you can hardly tell there is lemon in the dish. You won’t be disappointed if you love chicken and broccoli. Sweet and Sour Chicken — I ordered this with a side of spicy garlic oil. Oh good gosh was it so good adding that spicy oil to the dish. The warmth of the oil was so good and not overbearing. This was G’s birthday so I was able to sneek the tiramisu cake in without him seeing it and it was a total surprise. If you enjoy spicy or not, this restaurant will cater to whatever your tastebuds desire. We are definite regulars here!

Third time visiting. They really reasonable people here. If you read my review below I whined about service, I came back the next day because I love the food here, and the service was stellar. Ordered the Chengdu Roast Duck. Deep spicy flavors but not overwhelming. Nicely balanced seasoning and spice. The soup/sauce in it was very very delicious. The cook on the duck was excellent and the flavors went straight through to the meat. Also, it was a gigantic bowl and large portion enough for at least two. Well this is the second time I’ve eaten here. I was craving some REAL Chinese food. You’ll find that here. But is seems every«authentic» Chinese restaurant I go service is usually less than stellar, makes you kind of feel like a chore to them. Not very welcoming. Kinda my fault since I got there at 9:10 and they close at 10pm. It was acceptable but could be improved. Anyway let’s talk about the food. It’s phenomenal. First thing ordered was the hot and sour soup. So flavorful makes everyone else’s in the neighborhood taste like dish water. Quality ingredients, rich flavor, and complex. I could eat multiple bowls of this soup. Next soup dumplings. Flavors were amazing. Savory and well seasoned meat inside. The broth was also complex and full of flavor. Nice umami note to the flavor profile. The entrée I ordered was the Numbing Chicken. No understatement. It’s very interesting in how it has a slight numbing effect on the tongue but not heat from spice. The flavor is subtle but rich I can usually identify spices and flavoring but this was not in my wheelhouse. I loved it. Looks like a simple dish visually but it will make your taste buds dance!

If you’re looking for an actual Chinese restaurant(not your American take out place), this is it! The flavors are on point and the food is tasty not greasy. I personally wasn’t a fan of the fried beef with cumin(thought it was just too overpowering) but the dishes I did enjoy are the Dan Dan Noodles(love it!), fish in hot oil, beef noodle soup, and general tso chicken. The meal portions are generous! Fish in hot oil and beef noodle soup are authentic and definitely worth a try. They’ll warm you right up!

This review concerns visits to the restaurant on 5÷8÷15 and 8÷2÷15: On 5÷8÷15 I hosted a dinner for my group at Chef Wang. The first thing I noticed was that the clientele was more than 50% Asian, suggesting the promise of authenticity. That promise was more than met. My group loved the Dan Dan Noodles, Grand Mariner Shrimp, Tea Smoked Duck, Double Cooked Pork with Chili Oil and Singapore Noodles. Richard, the owner, treated our group with great concern and insured that we received prompt and attentive service. He made us feel welcome. He seated us at a table which sat 14 comfortably, situated in a semi-private area adjacent to the bar. This was a great situation for a large group and putting us there illustrated his attention to detail. My members and I had a most enjoyable evening. I returned to Chef Wang on 8/2/15.My friend and I ordered the Spare Ribs(Boned), General Tso’s Shrimp, Young Chow Fried Rice and Cumin Lamb. The ribs were well seasoned, just a little bit sweet and arrived at the perfect balance between tender and falling off the bone. Excellent ribs! The shrimp was generously portioned, not too sweet with accompanying vegetables stir fried to a nice level of crispness. The rice was also a large portion. It was filled with shrimp, egg, chicken and peas. Very moist and tasty. The lamb was the highlight. Absolutely perfectly cooked and, to this reviewer, was a much better version of cumin lamb than the celebrated one served at Xian’s Famous Foods in NYC. Service was prompt and efficient. To sum up, there is no need to schlep to Flushing anymore for great, and most importantly, authentic, Chinese food. Quite worthy of five stars since I currently regard Chef Wang as one of the three best Chinese restaurants in Nassau County.
