Excellent food, excellent service all at a great price. I’ve been to many different Hibachi places but can honestly say this is the best out of the ones I have been too. We came for my wife’s birthday(we love all the pictures on the walls, its a great touch and makes the restaurant feel very«homey») with our 2 kids and the service and food was great. The prices are reasonable and the kids meals are better than any other Hibachi restaurant I have been too. These kids meals come with the salad, soup, shrimp AND a choice of rice or noodle. On top of that, the kids portions are almost adult size. We really enjoy this place and have been here at least 5X now. When thinking of the money you spend at the other Hibachi places, there really is no comparison.

I went to Hibachi Sushi Ya for my brother’s 21st birthday dinner. 5 out of our 6-person group ordered hibachi, but I was craving food from the regular menu and went with that instead(they were super accommodating). The hibachi crowd started out with soup and salad before«the show.» While our hibachi master, Charlie, was cooking, I wolfed down my chicken dumplings, chicken skewers w/peanut sauce, and sweet potato tempura roll. I enjoyed each of my dishes, but was expecting the dumplings to be steamed not fried and the chicken skewers were a little more oily than I prefer. Watching the food being made was very entertaining. Charlie squirted sake into everyone’s mouth, took our picture for the wall, and even brought my brother a special fried ice cream dessert. For good food, friendly servers, and a fun experience, give Hibachi Sushi Ya a try!

Just left! Walked in at 7:30 on a Friday and although there was a short wait(which is obviously to be expected on a weekend), we were seated promptly and courteously. Sat down at our table and we were greeted by Kamby, who was one of the best servers i have ever had the pleasure of dealing with. Kind, engaging, and attentive without being overbearing. Wine selection was great for a sushi place. They have a wide array of styles and some great quality wines for fair prices. We ordered Edamame and the sushi love boat for 2. Food was incredibly fresh and delicious. I’m coming here every day and the folks at sushi ya are going to get sick of my ass real quick. Highly recommend, clearly.

Absolutely a +1 dining experience, not only was the food incredibly delicious for both the kids and us adults but the customer service was one we have not experienced in a very long time. The care, concern & smiles galore was a pleasure. We will most definitely return!

WARNING! I don’t usually do these kinds of posts, but I think everyone should be warned and told of my experience at Sushi Ya in New Hyde Park, the restaurant that I actually unfortunately go to a lot(but definitely not anymore). After ordering my sushi, I found a COCKROACH in it!!! It was crawling out of my plate. And when I screamed and showed the waitress and complained to the manager, all they had to say was«sorry, we can’t control it» — I’m sorry, but that’s not a valid enough of an excuse for this gross, unforgettable experience! After all this, the manager had the audacity to try and charge me for the sushi that was placed in front of me with a cockroach! So, be warned! Do not go to this restaurant anymore!

The service at sushi ya is amazing! Super kid friendly and the food comes very quick. They are always checking up on you asking if you need anything else. The only blah about sushi ya is the lighting. It is very bright in there. But all else over rides the lighting issue. We are regulars & will continue to be so. It’s our kids favorite place! Also, they gave the kids balloons and candy.

Guess these other reviewers never ate real sushi before. Been here a few times it’s mediocre at best for sushi. Drinks are good. Pretty sure the sushi chef should be checking sushi before its brought out. My friend saw something in her tuna picked it out. At first I thought it was nothing but when it started moving around it was obvious it was a worm. When we asked the waiter he quickly snatched it up and said oh no it’s just seaweed and took it away. Seaweed doesn’t have a head and moves around. The owner acted surprised and said no way saying he’s never heard of worms in fish. Really? Never setting foot in here again.

Not a bad place for sushi and hibachi dinner. Average price of around $ 30 per person if doing hibachi. Plenty of parking since it’s located inside a strip mall. Plenty of tables. Decent Japanese food.

My go-to sushi and hibachi place. Incredible service — they practically know what I am going to order when I go — and the food is great quality. May be a little pricier than other places but when you taste their food, you’ll understand why. Portions are generous, so don’t over order. Bathrooms are clean, and the drink menu is on point. The owner has become somewhat of a friend to our family, as we’ve been going there since it opened. It’s not hard to be his friend — he’s extremely nice and attentive. Try a Pomtini(if you’re into that sort of thing) and the Iron Tuna — no rice, just a ton of tuna goodness. Trust me.

My friend told me about this place, and how they have all-you-can-eat only on Sunday. We wanted sushi, and gave this a try. We noticed that the biggest difference was that all special rolls were an extra 2 dollars per roll. Usually special rolls are included but i assume they don’t cut quality. Another big thing is that they don’t have sashimi. So with the rolls and sushi, you’re consuming a lot of rice! But quality of sushi and the cooked food were above average and staff was extremely nice. Portions are a little on the generous side, so be cautious of ordering too much. Hibachi is part of the menu too. It’s not your typical AYCE sushi deal on Sundays, but it wasn’t as bad as i thought it would be.

The Quick: Owned by the same owners of sushi ya in garden city, the Classic go to sushi spot in the cute«Main Street» area of town, nothing outstanding but always good food. This location has a good all you can eat special on Sunday’s. Solid 3.5 stars. The Details: The food is always good, the owners are extremely friendly, and the all you can eat special on Sunday’s is pretty good. The venue is nothing extravagant or special, and the food is pricey, but we always enjoy it. The sushi is always good and the lunch special is very reasonable. Nothing extraordinary, but I always return every once in a while. The Damage: A little pricey especially for the fancy rolls, which is to expected for sushi. I prefer the other location.

Pretty good food. Not overly salty. Went to get hibachi with my family for my sisters high school graduation. A few in the group are vegetarian, and were very accommodating with us. We got a ton of sushi, and different entries. Everything was quite good. Staff was really great.

Okay food for hibachi. Overly oily and salty yet not much else going on with flavor. Service, however, was excellent. I was with a group of 7 for a birthday and my boyfriend and I shared one hibachi entrée and 2 sushi rolls. Somehow, my boyfriend still got the hibachi treatment with the soup, salad, noodles and a decent portion of scallops. Server was also very friendly and attentive, though the place was very empty on a Wednesday evening.
